@@HillsAliveYT I hope the Black bias in the last season is a fakeout so they don’t pull punches when they turn Rhaenyra into a monster. I’ve only read a few blurbs on the wiki about Fire and Blood and it sounds like it’s got a potential to get extremely nasty. I really like how the Green faction isn’t just these evil cackling schemers. They’re just as much victims of Viserys’s boneheaded decisions and neglect. As much as I like her side, I felt much for the Greens. Like Aemond. After a certain point? As much as I felt for the Strongs being targeted for their looks, I didn’t really feel bad for Rhaenyra’s children because they alongside Aegon did bully Aemond and later couldn’t back up their fighting words with their strength or wits against their uncles. Paraphrasing a quote from Akemi’s advisor Seki from the show Blue Eye Samurai? Rhaenyra prepared them for a world she wished existed rather than the cutthroat world they actually lived in. Not sure if you’ve seen that show? But I recommend it highly since you love House of the Dragon. Like her father, who caused all this by not having the newer generation of Lords swearing to his chosen heir? Rhaenyra neglected her duties as queen by leaving them weak in mind and body. They didn’t even know Valyrian or even tried to put on those airs. Though I still don’t understand how their appearance isn’t rationalized as them being Baratheon descendants instead of bastards. Rhaenyra should have had Lucerys or Jacaerys sent to Storm’s End to serve under the Baratheon lords as cupbearer in their youth and wed to a Baratheon to further establish their ties. And maybe send one either to Oldtower, Lannisport or Winterfell. It’s ironic how the Green Targaryen clan actually put up a much better effort in political decision-making up until Aemond allowed his hatred for his nephew to fuel Vhagar’s decisions. Forgetting that dragons aren’t just mindless tools. Even then? They shored up alliances while Rhaenyra insulated her chess pieces to only one family constantly by her side. It really shows how messed up that sort of system was.

Nah, he doesn’t do the grooming, he gets groomed 😅 (if she truly is 40 to 80 years old, but covers it up similarly to how Melissandre did in GoT)

We don’t need a lower class perspective. This is about the downfall of a dynasty from the inside out. The perspective of said dynasty is way more important.

@@jjh2456 definitely disagree - we need to see the consequences when the high lords play the game of thrones, and a large part of those consequences are felt by the lower classes. Plus (um, not sure if you've read F&B; if you haven't I won't spoil it) but the opinions of the lower classes are very important. Not saying every perspective has to be downtrodden, but a single perspective like Arya in season 2 would go a long way.

Does Arya's pov really count in showing the peasant class though? Yes she hangs out with them mostly in the books but she's not a lower class girl herself. She was raised privileged and of noble blood. And sometimes she showed classism.

@@Emma88178 During book/season 2, almost no one around Arya knows she's highborn; she's afforded no special privileges or protection for being highborn. For our purposes, I would say that counts? Amory Lorch, the Mountain, the Tickler or the Brave Companions could easily have hurt or killed her, not knowing that she could've been a super valuable highborn hostage. She's reduced to eating acorns and bugs just like the lowborn people around her, deals with trauma, faces the same threat of being put in the stocks like poor Pia if the castle changes hands again. Putting Alys in a kinda similar situation could really help show this perspective? The audience cheers when their favorite team captures Harrenhal, then there's the cold realization that the smallfolk who cooperated with the other team for the sake of their own survival are going to get executed. And inevitably, when the castle changes hands again, anyone who cooperated with the other side will also be executed. Lose-lose situation for the smallfolk. Its these quotes in a nutshell: "why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones?"; "everywhere the dragons danced the people died."

LOL I tend to be optimistic about the prospects in general, but given that they had nothing for so many characters and built out some great characterization in season 1, I have a fair bit of faith that they won't risk making her a Melisandre 2.0, and I hope the lack of inspiration material will be a good thing rather than a bad one.

Aemond seems like a very serious and dutiful person. He probably sees romance and sexuality (especially with how overly sexual Aegon is) as a weakness, and probably tries to suppress those feels. I’m can’t wait to see him struggle with his feelings for Alys.

@@DarkKing009 One of her several mistakes. I still believe Joffrey and so on are legitimate, but they have the luck of favoring their mother. And since there’s no DNA testing and a ton of infidelity (which I can’t blame her for given how bad Robert is) creates too much shade to know either way, she screwed herself and her children’s lives either way. Kinda funny though how Targaryens and Starks can have non-Valyrian/Riverlands looking offspring throughout the story, but Cersei can’t have Baratheons who are blond.
