Hey Tony , we really enjoy your stuff you put out on the internet . I have a 89 sidekick and absolutley love it , its me and my dogs vehicle . Keeps me out of the wifes venza . lol anyhow keep these videos going .. im old and like watching videos that are like yours , light hearted and informational .
@@Hwy83SUZUKIrecently discovered your channel. I’m really digging it! We are currently looking at a sidekick and a tracker. My question is, has anyone ever done a different engine swap in these? Maybe something a tad bigger or newer?
Stumbled on your channel a day or so ago... I dig it! Good vibe and vids... I'm picking up a 95 sidekick tmw!!! In the past I had tracker, loved it but it was rusted bad 👎. This one I'm getting is overall nice, but not a gem... I'll be visiting your channel for entertainment, tips, knowledge and prob parts!!! Happy Collecting!!! Miller Time!!
I have a 1983 Jaoanese SJ410 with a 998CC engine, rubber matting, no rear window, seats or any luxuries, it a commercial vehicle, slow as anything, and it came with weird 165SR15 tyres which were thin looking, but I love it. US was lucky in that they got fuel injection etc.
As a kid I always loved the look of the Geo Tracker. I've got a daughter that's 9 now and all I wanna do is buy a tracker for her that I can work on a little bit for the next few years.
Hi Tony please tell me how to fix the fuel consumption problem on a 87 model samurai it is now wearing a weber carburettor ,thank you so much keep the good work ...
What up Tony!!! Question. Can you shed some light on what other vehicles motors are a good swap to the samurai 8v? Like what donor cars to swap in a 16v for my samurai? Love the videos brotha!
I am thinking of buying either a 1994 sidekick 2 door or a 1987 2 door samurai. I want to use it for camping and or exploring which body style will give me the most interior room? And which one out of those 2 would you go for. Both vehicles have been built and are almost the same price.
i have a 88.5 , fixing to rebuild the engine and transmission , in your opinion what cam would you buy for more horse power , im in hill country of texas and pulling a hill with 300 lbs of corn , not working so well
Hi my name is Daniel I’m about to buy a 1992 samurai and the check engine blink sometime is off but sometimes it turns on and then off almost blinks and the idle is like little high and goes down and up fast again
Bro help me please !! I have a 1999 suzuki vitara 2.0 4 banger no spark issue so I replaced the cam position sensor got a replacement ecm checked the fuse under drivers dash and it's still got no spark turn the key on I hear the fuel pump clicking away and I have fuel I have no idea why I have no spark at this point .
89 was great for me 200000 ,tires and brakes only . never even changed timing belt. If rear gear want so high I thank it could have went 400000. Spring broke in clutch at 187000 clutch was still good . I thought 2000 models metal was thinner. West Virginia mike says what's up 83 Suzuki
I also have a 96 4D, 161,000. 5 speed manual, I’ve had mine for over a year now, I’ve done a tranny swap, clutch and flywheel, I would be careful with the air vents because if you break them they are not cheap at all 😂, also changing axle seals isn’t fun on them either, if you have any questions on yours just let me know!
Year models 1996+ for OBD2 is this just a North American thing? I own a 1997 SV420 Vitara here in Australia but I'm fairly sure mine still has the OBD1 port still 🤔 I think it was 2005/2006 Australia mandated OBD2, but it didn't stop some manufacturers adding it earlier than that. I borrowed my friends cheap $150 OBD2 scan tool from Supercheap Auto and it works in my newer 2020 Suzuki Jimny, but not in my 1997 Vitara so I'm unsure if its OBD1? Or just a cheap scan tool that doesn't recognise the OBD2 Vitara port?
@@Hwy83SUZUKI interesting, were your USDM rebadged Vitaras aka Trackers/Sidekicks all built in Japan? My Vitara isn't JDM its ADM but built in Japan, thinking maybe if they're both built in the same place then my 1997 might have OBD2 too perhaps?
@Hwy83SUZUKI oh interesting! 🤔 Mines probably just OBD1 then. Is it still worth while buying a scan tool for that? If so do you recommend any particular brands/models of OBD1 scan tools?
Nice vid. I'm looking at a Geo on marketplace. A 94 for $4000 that looks almost rust free. My old man keeps giving me crap for wanting one. He says just get something more reliable and not something thats gonna turn into a money pit. But from everything I see online, it sounds like these cars are reliable, pretty straightforward to work on and parts are readily available. I know a few things but I'm not much of a mechanic so idk can anyone help me out?
Very reliable but they are 30 + years old. So you'll have oil leaks from dried up seals and wear and tear parts are going to need attention. The foundation of Japanese drivetrain is rock solid 👌
We restored and wrapped a tin top 1995 tracker in 2020 use as a daily around Los Angeles and people fucking love it, also owed a 95 tracker in Michigan. Dead reliable as Tony says they are older so on occasion something is gonna need attention for sure but easy to work on and not hard to get parts not as easy as some but not as hard as a mechanic will claim. Start with a good base and you’ll be fine. I had mine in Detroit in the 90’s and the GM engineer parents would all give me shit for it. Then one day in a massive snow ice storm they were all stuck couldn’t leave homes, several feet of snow. Here I come just bombing up a hill my skid plate cutting through snow. They still talk about it fondly today and that was the day they had proper respect for Japanese cars. Most of them after retiring went Japanese.
If you want a geo tracker 16 valves to fly or be stronger put a adapter and skunk manifold from a d16z6 honda engine or the d16z6 manifold with the p28 ECM send the geo tracker 16 valves distributor with the d16z6 honda one to Puerto Rico and they will take them apart and weld them in and bingo mostly junkyards parts and cheap put it together and take the geo tracker to tune and by the end of the day you will have a little monster plus you can turbo the geo tracker man man a lot of power cost 400 for the distributor to be made and 80 for the manifold adapter all together around 1000 dollar including the tune .Now with a 272 Delta cam regrind and header and lighter flywheel and free flow exhaust system you talking easy around 140 hp and with a ebay turbo set up a lot more around 6 to 8 pounds of boost stock parts. For samurai k20 or k24 engine transmission with turbo around 250 hp to 300 hp all stock parts .And in puerto rico for 2500 hundred you can get a d16z6 engine with 400 hp turbo and tune nothing special regular build and put it in a geo tracker easy build and simple and even the hell cat have to fight hard to see the lights in a Geo tracker higher rpm imagen bro is that simple nothing special streets knowledge old school and yes out here we have them call low riders spocky jjjjjj 😁
Hello 👋 so I have a very odd secret project going on with my 92 geo tracker that I plan to reveal on my channel in about two weeks if you're interested to come check out? ALSO im looking for a 2" trailer hitch receiver for my tracker to use as a spare tire carrier. I can't seem to find anything online? Would you know which one might fit? Thank you 🙏
Thank you. I feel like a NYC congestive pricing idiot Boss. My Suzy is 88 square dash which I've modified my dashboard to plug my phone into Samurai. Consumer report dude can't mention him without being put on internet blast. Crush them cans bro...
