Puzzles just want the best or perfect answer, and they don't give any credit for 2nd or 3rd best continuations. Very frustrating and discouraging, which is not the way to teach.
I completely disagree. I’ve won a lot of games simply by using patterns I learned from puzzles. All kinds of patterns… checkmate types, pushing pawns, easy 2move traps, etc. eventually you just see them pop out at you when you analyze the board during a game, and you can skip 80% of the calculation before making decisive moves.
You completely miss the point. A puzzle is trying to teach you to recognize patterns and go for the best move. If you capture a queen but miss mate in one at the same time then your move is simply worse. You might end up with a +6 advantage, yes. But with that kind of mindset you will never improve at the game. The puzzle was designed with ways to distract you from the real goal, Wich is to maximize your advantage and recognize the patterns. If you always play the 2nd or 3rd best move you'll always lose to a player who sees the pattern and plays the winning one that crushes
Hey Alex just wanted to say thank you. I’ve just picked up chess within these past couple of months and your videos have been very helpful to me. I went from 100 elo to nearly 700.
As someone who plays the vienna almost exclusively, these videos are such a treat to watch!! Thanks Alex for posting, hoping your channel reaches new heights soon!
Thanks for more vienna content. I really do appreciate it alongside the caro kann because the vienna seems to end up a far more tactical game. So playing both gives practice at each style.
Hi Alex! Recently got back to chess and found your channel (I am a Caro-Kann player). Great content for all levels, very clear and simple, easy to follow. Thank you very much!
Day 4 watching his E4 rating climb Playlist,my fav part gotta be the the first game where sacrificed every pieces and still getting winning position..I might try like that risky move as well
Around 23:14 couldn't u Qc8+ after queen blocks , bishop f7 and if he moves king up knight to d5 winning the queen after king moves edit: if he does move king and doesnt take bishop u have mate in one with the queen xD
31:37 - after ...Nfd7, I was considering Bb5, pinning the second Knight to the King so the black knights no longer mutually protect each other and allowing Qxb8+. I didn't have a full continuation although ...Ke7 appears forced and Nd5+ might be strong. Obviously need to watch out for not leaving the white queen hanging to the Knight, but I usually would keep it on the back rank pinning the Bishop to the rook for as long as possible. I welcome any refutations to help me learn.
Kasparow played a famous game in the 1990 Match vs. Karpow, where he sacced a knight on h6 in a rather complicated position. It turned out that all resulting lines would lead to a win for White and everyone was like "What a great calculator Kasparow is!" And afterwards Kasparow said, I didn't make deep calculations, l just felt the sacrifice will work because my pieces were placed perfectly.
"It is like a third nipple. It serves no purpose." This implies that the other two nipples have a purpose. What exactly is the purpose of nipples on guys?
The second game should be called "the Good the Bad and the PonZi". B knight G knight and the pawn into the other man's territory (the Ponziani push). yes you should move your good knight first when learning, IF you make the move he made with the Bad Knight you must say the magic word as you move it to yourself. Jo ba va.
25 seconds into the video Alex tells you exactly how it must be done. Not many of the other chess channels would be so honest. I don't hear Levy being that honest and direct. But then, I also suspect Levy has somebody paying RU-vid for a viewer count amplification service.
@@jacksondill11 Who is that? Bill Gates for creating hysteria over a comparatively minor illness and forcing everyone to stay at home with nothing to do but watch chess videos on RU-vid?
@@astronemir Lol you can watch his interviews on RU-vid. I was just stating facts. 2020 he says scary scary illness! 2022 he says yeah, no it really wasn't a big scary illness, sorry my mistake. And his net worth tripled.
your videos are dope...try playing these games more like the rating of your opponent. Dont play all the gangster trappy 4-5 move combos a 1500 player is never going to find
