when they add the whole industry chain in december, you could open a new world to see exactly where they spawn, and manually place them down in this map so you dont lose all this progress

I recommend getting the Highside gondola wagon, Its significantly cheeper then a hopper can & holds 6 units while the hopper holds 10 and is alot lighter, better for the hill in & out of the iron mine

Since they added that clock, it would be fascinating if they added passenger trains that will get you a lot more passengers and therefore more money at different times of day. Then, different locations could have people wanting to leave at different times, depending on what the industry is. (leaving towns in the morning to go to an industry, and leaving the industry in the evening, for example.)

Use the tiny hoppers, they're probably lighter than the big thiccums ones. You might be able to get just a little bit more ore to the smelter at a time that way. And yes, you might want to tie a few car brakes on the way down with lumber and beams, otherwise you're going to be peeing in a lot of cups!

Problem with starting at the wheat farm is twofold: First up you need boxcars to make decent money with it. While the seeds from the freight depot can be transported with other cars as well, only the old boxcar can hold grain, which pays way better than seeds and bales. Second issue is that everything there only works with single loading stations, so that's all very slow while that industry needs high volumes of supplies.

I would recommend having a look at the ‘H’ menu, it opens the i game wiki and gives you details on all the cars (capacity weight, etc), engines (speed, weight, tractive effort, etc), etc

It'd probably just be easier to place the new industry's down rather then starting again, would be a waste to have to relay all that track

Buy a porter 2 for extra fuel and run them back to back so the cabs are kinda shared, you can keep one in neutral until you need the both!

Great name, and thanks for being a real trooper about keeping up this series despite the game's frequent changes & 'quirks.' Really looking forward to a potential "for real, this time" series once the production chains are fully released. Maybe just let the rest of this series just be more experimental? You should use the high wall cars (the smallest cars for iron ore) for the iron. the cars are superlight so you can haul more cargo for the weight. They hold 6 unit of ore, which is more then the weight of the car. cargo to car weight ratio being 2.5 while other hopper cars being less than 1.

For the bulkhead flats you're going to want to get the regular ones for the cord wood as the Plantation ones only hold 2 cord wood. You'll want the high Plantation hoppers as they hold the most product.

You could place the farm industry on the map that your saves on pretty easily you know and then you don't need to worry about losing all your progress

Eventually when you make the server multiplayer the members of the server could make towns and role play as passenger trains so it won’t just be cargo trains

To be fair, Shay's mainstay was hauling logs and lumber. I'll reiterate that their ridiculously slow speed (as long as they're not going down hill or being thrown off a cliff) make them great for multi tasking. Load up a Shay at the lumber camp, have all the switches flipped to your saw mill, fill 'er up with fuel and let her go full speed. You can then warp to like the coal mine or iron mine, load up a few cars there and send the train to the iron works, park that train, warp to the saw mill and be there a little before the Shay comes bumbling around the corner with the logs. They're just slow, but that allows you to move multiple things at once. A more extensive industry line would be wheat grain to a mill which becomes flour and that goes to a bakery, becomes bread, you sell that at the freight depot. The hay either goes to cattle or sheep. Those ranches gives you beef and milk or mutton and wool which can also go to additional industries. Maybe wheat grain also goes to a chicken farm, take eggs, milk, and flour to the bakery to get a cake???? Who knows. There's just a possibility of ranch products and food goods in general with that kind of industry. I also think they'll keep on doing the split of 1 input to 2 outputs, next is 2 inputs to 2-3 outputs, final ones will be 3 inputs to 1 output; because of 19th century capitalism.

I would also expect that it will be a flower mill, cattle farm and a stock yard. edit And the smaller cars seem to have a higher rolling resistance.

wow !! funny as always. always liked watching you and Hyce doing things. Although I must say the track percentages you were using seem Very extreme ! I have track going up to almost all the good spots in the mountains and nothing on my layout is greater than 2 and a half percent. and that is without ( or mostly ) any unrealistically big sky bridges. But keep up the good work. it's still all about having fun .. ;- }

If you look closely at the 3-way switch, it’s not a typical design with a Frog and rigid moving rails. It actively bends the rail from the opposite direction. Hyce shows off a switch of this design in his “Switching 101” video. It is a much older design, and due to certain issues was outlawed by the 1890s on Class 1 and 2 railroads, so you only see them anymore at museums, scenic railroads, historic railroads, narrow gauge lines, or tourist lines. Also, the “harpe” is actually correct on the 3-way, since it’s a lever. The harpe will point opposite the direction of the rails, and is actually how narrow gauge harpes worked until the modern rotation switch stand was invented.

you could use a shay with a black porter back to back it makes for a good little loco who can pull a lot and go fast on flat terrain its a little more maintenance but it works great

I agree about the game needing animals to transport. They've shown chickens (well, a Rooster), I would love sheep.

Hay KAH, you should ask the devs to make tunnels The tunnels would be really simple. You placed one of the tunnel on one side of the hill and then you place the other n on the other side in the tunnel spawns in between the two points

I went straight for the big trucks for coal and iron, as far as I could tell the capacity theory seemed to make sense im guessing its 2,4 and 6. Then was able to afford my Juliana (Tenmile) with the rustic paint and antlers, etc and just hauled bigish trains everywhere no problem

Kan, did you see the speed increase for the little zoomy boy and eureka? Montezuma is up to like 22 mph and eureka is one of the fastest at 30+ mph

Hey kAN, if you ever wanna change the variable on the degrees for track, you can go into your controls in setting and look for the "Edit Construction Grid" and make a key bind for it. I have mine as 0, since it's right there with the other numbers on my number pad, but you can then change the variable between 1, 10, 50, and 100, making it faster to switch degrees instead of doing 10 all the time

IMO when they get all the new industries, unless they actually change the map, just place them into the current world. I think that the organic nature of building out from existing lines to meet new builds will make things more interesting than having a whole network planned from the start. That basically never happened IRL.

Maybe put a straight uphill track at the bottom of that crazy hill for runaway trains? They have those on the interstates near where I live for runaway 18-wheelers.

If they do add passenger transport, there should be a penalty for derailing your passenger cars, and a heftier penalty for flipping your passenger cars.

With a farm in agriculture and animals im expecting it to effect the chains like a food factory, rum wiksy-esk distillerys, and possibly a leathery/skiner location

12:30 It sounds like you're saying "exetra" or something like that, so I just thought I'd bring up that it comes from latin and is "et cetera", meaning "and the rest" or "and so forth". There are just so many things we just pick up without knowing the origin of. Extra fun with the things we misspeak because we've never heard them spoken, only read them. Like "respite" being pronounced more like "ress-pit"(although I still think it should be pronounced akin to "despite," and there is apparently a bit of a 50-50 on it), and "boatswain" apparently being "bo-sun". Or even "tomb"...

You can get a 3% line from the sawmill to the iron mine if you follow the coast then into the hills.

kan, do you remember the Porter Toss from the RRO Olympics? i built a gravity run 'ski jump' that launches stuff at over 100 mph

Hey kan if you hit the "H" key on your key board you can see a helpfull wiki menue that tels you info about alot of the cars and the locos like how fast they go in game and what loads cars carry

you should have a runaway train track at the bottom of the 10% that is just a straight incline so you can safely slow down lol

Just so you know when the log cars unload the logs go back into the normal size and sometimes they don't load, so you would have to unload one at a time

If you can place industries, you could just put down the weat farm where it should be on the map so you dont have to restart a save.

You know what would be very helpful in the game is you know they did make it better but I think one more Improvement you know on the map you can see where all the industries are well imagine as you build the train tracks your tracks will show up on the map that way you can tell which ones where and which ones going where just by looking at your map is that would be cool if I don't want to go down that track it's really swervy for Hillary Waco update two

I tried going around the lake to the smelter, it can be harder than the way you have it now

i kinda like them adding a different goods types

If it was me i'd end up making a line that goes from the sawmill and the iron mine into a continuous loop because the iron mine requires both things from the sawmill also it won't fowl up your other lines from moving goods if you ever decide to take run alot of trains. But again, that's what I would do.

I suggest geting teh eureka Due to it being both faster and stronger it can pull 1 small car up a 10 % plus its alot faster

Guys, some of you is having the issue where some texture are blurry like they're set on the lowest level of setting after the update, as well the inability to change and save your weather setup?

So when example you placed one side of the tunnel and then you run to the other side in the tunnel shows where it’s going to be and you can see the status of the tunnel

I still say that even tho banking tracks would be overly over kill, it would still be fun to see how overkill you could make a track.

i think they should add employees so that you can multiple trains running at the same time without you needing to worry about it cause the are part of the game and not just your freinds but you can also run tains with yourself and freinds ps love your vids

You should start a new save with Heise for both of you guys and use this one for a separate one for your viewers.

What if at the end of the 10% grade, you put a runaway ramp similar to trucks on a hill. No rerailing and good enough reduction of speed.

You should just check where the industries are and place them manually, it will be so much easier than restarting.

kAN don’t you have an 8% line leading into the iron mine? If you do it backwards you get the 8% on the way out and the shay can do that.

You should add a ""Run off ramp" at the end of the 10%

I think for me to buy this game I'd want some sort of GPS that tells me position and altitude so I can calculate the grades needed. I don't think I'd enjoy just guessing routes and having to backtrack when I get things wrong. I think it would be great for realism too. You start by surveying the land and the route you are going to take. The GPS should also be able to save location data, maybe even tell you the angle to another waypoint so you know if you can get your desired grade.

I wonder if they're ever going to do a bot or AI that can drive the trains on a predetermined path so that you can just have it running automatically and getting money

there currently is a bug where the brake is ether on or off and is not variable "due to unreal 5 limitations"

Hey KAN when you for throttled in the other direction, trying to stop, you actually speeding up because you were removing all friction from your train wheels to the tracks that your brakes did nothing you’re not slowing down the train you’re speeding up the train

Just letting you know, the small cordwood car is the worst thing ever, it only holds 2 cordwood, compared to the 8 of the big car, and it's just so incredibly painful to work with. Genuinely not worth bothering with it.
