I think most people don’t understand the size of this. Dall-E 2 is incredible! A common misconception is that it combines photos. It does not! As Chris said, it’s like a giant brain. When you tell Dall-E 2 to create an image of a dog wearing a hat, it does NOT take a picture of a dog and one of a hat and combine it with AI into one picture. No, Dall-E 2 knows what a dog is, what its characteristics are and the same for the hat. Then it creates a completely new image based on its knowledge. It’s like when you read the phrase „dog wearing a hat“. You probably saw some sort of picture in your head. The AI does the exact same except its imagination is way more precise. Truly fascinating and a huge step in technology, one of the biggest perhaps.

@@hanleyk Ahhh, but setting a creative human mind loose on this program will be amazing. I'm not artistically creative, and if you give me a set of brushes and paint, I could do little with it. Yet if you give the same paint and brushes to a gifted artist, you get amazing art. Same materials, very different results. Also, this being a new creative medium, we will almost certainly get whole new categories of creative art, things we haven't even conceived of. Personally, I think tools like this will not stifle the creative mind, but set it on fire.
@Fermion.
@Fermion. 2 года назад
@@kencarpenter1363 The deathblow to digital artists is the speed at which this produces art. Even if the artist's quality is better, the fact that the AI can spit out dozens of "close enough" concepts in mere seconds is the main advantage. It's similar to why very few people carry, or even own a high quality digital camera anymore. Why, when your phone can take "close enough" pictures, and is way more convenient than hauling a studio quality camera around for just a relatively small increase in quality. There will still be a place for talented artists, but the demand for their services will plummet, just as the demand for stand-alone digital cameras has plummeted, because people will usually choose the quicker and easier route, even at the cost of a bit of quality.

@@LilBigHuge Nope. An AI will never be able to get composition, lighting, proper values, colors and anatomy just right. It will never be able to replicate what you are imagining in your mind on paper, just random suggestions based on that. At best, it will oversaturate the market with mediocre art that has no value because anyone can press a button to generate it. There is value in scarcity. "Random generation" does not belong in art. It takes over 10 years of drawing daily to learn how to perfect art into placing on paper WHAT YOU WANT TO THE SMALLEST DETAIL, not just generate mediocrities that look muddy or photobashed. And as a side point, tech bros are delusional, and this novelty will in the end serve as inspiration for the artists themselves. If you want to learn how to make art, do what the artists do and work your ass off doing the art yourself. Human creation will always be more appreciated than a soulless machine.

I loved watching this video, very profound, laid-back and also amusing. Of course these ideas don't come from nowhere, and they are "inspired" by what humans have already created along similar themes, but I found it really interesting to see, through this lens, what humans associate different concepts with. Having the AI create multiple similar, connected images really highlighted some of the strange assumptions and connections we make as humans, such as the pirate hat and the eyepatch, or the dinosaur being presented mostly as a toy. Thank you so much for making this and sharing it with us! 🧡 P.S. Oh wow, I knew it had to be better than the mini, but I didn't expect it to look THAT good. Man, I feel like they've bestowed technology from the future to us! That's incredible. Although, I have to wonder like with Artbreeder, how similar is the art produced to read-existing pictures? I'm interested to see the samples for each. I wonder if design is even possible with this or if it would just be stealing from other people's art and designs.

This AI, considering how mind blowing it is, it is that start of a world where AI does the imagination for us, a world where humans are the ones with limited thoughts, and AI with an endless imagination, when it should be the opposite. But for now, I am amazed by the amount of effort put into this project, and how it opens the gates for a future world.

Yeah it’s amazing, but when ai takeover human jobs, more human jobs are required afterwards… Just imagine a similar ai but instead of art it creates music or a type of made up melody or instrumental!!

@@OMGLittleB Wouldn't it be great if AI takes all the job and we can then actually live our life?
@OMGLittleB
@OMGLittleB 2 года назад
@@kiranojha8811 considering Ai itself are sentient, I'm positive that wont happen, we have no control over them after a couples years sadly, its like letting a genie out of a bottle, either the end of humanity or the next step for humanity.

@OMGLittleB
@OMGLittleB 2 года назад
@@kiranojha8811 well I'm hoping that will happen haha all depends on how humans treat them, for example ai creation is 200% going to start a WW3, but ai themselves also need rights and voting because they are sentient human like beings soo yeah kinda crazy.

Is this the beginning of the end of human creativity? When AI take over the process of creation, any creative fields are in jeopardy. A computer can integrate unlimited information into one in the matter of seconds. Human becoming obsolete is no longer a distant threat.

There’s a mini online version that is super cool too. It doesn’t seem to be very accurate but the results are eerily recognizable but still not quite right. It’s like looking into the brain of a robot.

Visualizations of the future or alien tech will be reflections of our own visualizations. This is a "collective" mirror. It's still the Chinese Room argument/experiment --- but a very very very functional and useful version. Not AGI -- but a really great AI for various use cases!

Yes it can. Google's Deepmind Artificial intelligence comes up with never before seen strategies for complex board games. It's creating new fascinating ideas out of thin air.

Imaging if you could output that jumping dog, to 3D printing, to duplicate the look of that 2d image, into a 3d sculpture.

I was so heartbroken when I found this video. I don’t think AI is the way to solve these problems. If you think about it ,everyone can already do all these things. We can all create whatever we want. We just have to put in the effort. Go through the process. Just like how you have a picture or an idea in your head when you type in these prompts. You can pick up literally anything else and create what you had in mind and even better you get to be part of every step of the process. See your idea come to life and feel fulfilment with your work. I hope this gets at least one person to start their new project🧡

Love this vid, also agree, ive been seeing a lot of people misrepresenting or not understanding Dall E 2…its not a photoshop system, its not a laptop, it’s something totally new…this is AI….something that has more experience than any human who ever existed. Something thats learning what to make and how to make it better….again, its AI….

In time to come this sort of technology could read a book, and then make a movie from it. Complete with dialogue, sound effects and different music to match the mood of particular scenes. I hope I live long enough to see that.
