One thing about Stevie, Whenever he was playing with another guitarist he would always give them their time and would play reserved as to not showboat. Especially when he was playing with some of his idols.

I got to see Jeff Healey play at a blues festival in Louisiana back in 1994. Kenny Wayne Shephard opened, BB King closed, one of the best shows that I’ve been to. This particular show features my two favorite guitarists.

Thank you so much for reacting to this awesome video! Healy's parents gave him a guitar when was little and he ended up figuring out how to best play it, which for him, was on his lap. When he got older, they signed him up for regular guitar lessons, but by then, he found he could do much more amazing things using his own way of playing. But what I don't get is how he can stand up and keep playing without the benefit of a guitar strap!! You should check out his video Jeff Healey - "See the Light" - Night Music 1988. Awesome performance backed up by some of the best in the business. You'll either run out of the room or feel the urge to throw your guitar away.♥♥♥♥

Jeff and Stevie -- two beautiful blues guitar and vocalists. So sad we lost them too soon. And you're right -- his body, head movements are different because he's never seen anyone play guitar, so he doesn't know how to move and be 'cool'. I love him and it gives me such joy to see him having fun.

@redindenver6666 3 месяца назад
@@peterfrost6507 Yes -- and I love Ray Charles too. I hadn't noticed him having the type of movements Jeff has. I assumed since Jeff was totally blind while he was still an infant, he never got to develop the facial expressions and body movements we all pick up on as we are going through our early childhood. I can't recall when Ray lost his sight, and whether he was as completely blind as Jeff (whose eyes had to be removed due to cancer) was.

Two amazing talents gone way,way before their time. The interesting thing about SRV not being able to read music but play like he could is the same as another great guitarist/musician EVH . He could not read music either . That just goes to show that some people just have it as Jeff Healy and Stevie Ray Vaughan did , no matter what they had it , the gift to make music .

SEBS WHEN YOU talked about how Jeff's solo n his emotions(standing up n shaking his head) n how he only reacted naturally to his body's response to the music bc he'd never seen anyone do that, I loved it! Being blind since age 1, Jeff's only way to show real emotion was thru music it seems. What an Angel we had in Jeff and the great SRV! Music is(IMHO) the greatest "conduit" with humanity! You can be from Tasmania, London, Egypt, or NY, and music speaks fluent! Thank u for music

I saw Jeff Healey in 1988 in Germany. It was in a bar that had a small concert hall that sat about 200. Germans aren't very loud like Americans. So in natural fashion, we screamed, whistled and clapped much louder than the 182 Germans in the concert!! I was in the Army then. 8 of us went and were standing 10 feet away from Jeff, just to the right of him! After a couple songs he introduced his band. After that, he pointed at us and said, "You guys must be Americans! You are louder than the rest of this whole place!" Boy, did we ever let loose then!! Love your channel, brother!

Jeff Healey loved Stevie. Stevie was a good friend to him. Jeff was devastated when Stevie died and was at his funeral. Albert Collins was one of Stevie’s heroes. He got famous in the rough blues bars in Houston in the 1950s, and helped Stevie when he was starting out. He was known as the Iceman and Master of the Telecaster, had a unique sound, and he and Stevie always played hard together and brought the best out of each other. Albert always had a long guitar cord and would go walking through the audience. This link is to the two of them playing together Albert’s signature song “Frosty”, an old Texas blues shuffle. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_E6gsuek-5g.html

I saw Jeff in Germany 🇩🇪 in 1987. There were 8 of us, Army tank commanders, Cavalry scouts etc. We were all stationed nearby Nuremberg. We were privileged to be able to attend many, many concerts all through the 1980s. Jeff was playing in a large club that happened to have a small concert hall attached to one side of the building. It had 3 levels of balconies and plenty of standing room after all the seats had been filled. Jeff was sitting to the left hand part of the stage. We were standing about 10 ft. away from Jeff, close enough that he could hear us loud and clear, especially after a song ended! You see, German concert goers aren't a 10th as loud and rambunctious!! When Jeff was introducing his band mates after a couple songs, he thenked the crowd directly in front then turned in his chair to face us, he pointed and said, "You guys down there are Americans!! I instantly knew you guys were probably G.I.s because yuore the loudest section of this crowd! Thank you for your Service and thank you for coming to the show." Once I came out of shock from being spoken to by one of my guitar heroes...lol...we all turned it up notch! Shoot, even the rest of the crowd started to make more noise! It was an amazing experience to witness this man play his guitar. I tried to play like Jeff once I got home. Complete failure lol

Sebs, don't compare yourself to two of the greatest electric guitarists ever. They are who they were. You are Sebs Duran and you have the skill set God gave _you!_ I like to write and sometimes things really soar and I wonder, "Where did that sentence or paragraph or page come from?" Other times it isn't that good at all. But just be yourself Sebs and do your best and that will be good enough. Over time things get much better because your brain will pick up what makes something good, or great, or incomparable! Your muscle memory will kick in and you will fly! Good luck! 👌💖😉

I've read and seen interviews on Stevie, and he said he would make sounds vocally, and shape with his mouth, then try to mimic those sounds on the guitar. It's especially cool bc you can sometimes actually see it in his performances (Little Wing at El Mocambo, he mouths wa-wa-wa-wa ). He also said he would tape record new music or draw chord configurations to show band members or collaborating artists where to start or what it sounds like. He said he didn't know what the chords were called so he communicated it in his own way. Like you said...just feel it & play it

hey Seb, just a line or two on my experiences & SRV: I first heard him at a friends house, must’ve been ‘bout ‘79. he wasn’t ready when I went to pick him up one Fri. nite, so I got out and went in while he finished up. I immediately heard this super funky “boogie woogie” tune, and then it stepped into a fantastic lead run; I said “Wow, …ma-an!” friend says, “what’s that?” I hadn’t even realized, I said that out loud. “Who’s this playin mad guitar on u’r turntable?” “Stevie.”. he shouted, slamming his palm into the door as he came out, and entered into his LR. I just stood there, stoopid. he didn’t interrupt, and after the song ended, I glanced up, noticing he was watching me, and he said, “crazy, huh?” I said again, “ma-an… who’d u say?” “SRV” “who’s SRV?”. “u mean u’ve never heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan?” “apparently not; so, I need to borrow u’r album,” as I took it off the turntable, and started to look at the tunes, and credits on the center label. “huh-nn” he grunted, and snatched it from me. “aww, come-on! I’ll return it. u know I always do, and in same condition I got it!” “Nope, just got it, ain’t even listened to the b-side.” “next week?” “u got a doobie?” “aww man, I’s savin it for Sheila!”. “no doobie, no next week.”. “oh, alright! so, I’ll stop by Sun. mornin to pick it up.” “nope… Mon., no-way Sun., u can get it on Mon.” he said, holdin out his hand. I took off my hat, took the J outta the inside band, and laid it in his hand. the next week, I got the album, and then submerged myself in SRV- for the next three weeks. it was a good J, and even he said so, and I asked, “good enuf for two weeks?” I can’t play as well as Stevie did, but Lordy knows, it wasn’t for lack of trying, and the endless hours I tried,… ohhh, how I tried. SRV was just one of “those” ppl. that’s what I call’em; u know, the ones that just got God-given talent, or whatever u choose to refer to “it” as. and Jeff Healey?! aww ma-an! he was another’n. great vid, and reaction too, later!

There is a video out there. I think it's the one with this band members. They went to Germany twice to a festival. They booed him at the first one and he was so gentlemenly in the clip.. There was one of his heroes on the stage that he played with. I think it was in the second one. CV goes up to the guy because the guy is lost. Tells him don't look at my fingers. We're playing in B and then he caught up. Exactly what you said about him not being professionally. Trained he's doing one thing and it looks like another.

But you didn't comment did you see the shit eating grin that stevie had. It was like a proud father. That's where the emotion comes from. That's why you wanna cry because of the way Jeff just goes with it. And how proud and the smile on stevie's face. Jeff will never know that look but he feels it in the music.
