Stevie always kept it relatively chill when he had guests on stage. He wanted them to shine. He was a truly kind, humble, gracious man. And Jeff Healey was a monster in his own right.
This is the truth. This was a wonderful blessing to be able to see this video. Stevie Ray Vaughan in Jeff Healey were two great guitarist and I bet they would have recorded together. I miss them so much. Stevie Ray Vaughan is my favorite guitarists always loved watching him play and Jeff Healey was amazing to see him play with so much passion. R.I.P Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey God Bless there families.
Glenn, I’m so glad that you noted that he doesn’t have a guitar strap--That alone makes everything that he does standing up 100 times more incredible!!! I feel like that is a sadly overlooked accomplishment that deserves a great noteworthy praise and appreciation!
Surprised those two guitars didn’t burst into flames after this. Both those guitar slingers were equally impressed and inspired by each other in this I truly believe. One of your best reactions and a great choice.
You're Jeff Healy. You're already a legend. Then you come out and play with Stevie Ray Vaughn, and he says after the song "Let's hear it for Jeff Healy!" Level up!
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow 1977 hmm seems you take facts not in evidence to form some argument and then pretend your musical knowledge is somehow superior. Go away troll and then don’t come back
You want to hear something mindblowing? SRV could not read one note of music. When he was asked about it, he said "I just play what's in my soul." This brother had a soul made of solid gold, baby!
I did PR for this show and was there for this taping. I knew I was witnessing something very, very special. There were maybe 100 people in that studio. I'm so grateful to have witnessed this performance.
Props to SRV in his willingness to step back and let the young guy shine. Saw Jeff play at the peak of his fame (in Canada) in Ottawa - a fantastic show.
That Jeff Beck/SRV tour came within an hour and a half of my house TWICE in 1989. I said to myself, "Well, I'm trying to save money for college next year, and now that Stevie Ray is clean and sober, I'm sure I'll have another chance." Missing it is perhaps my all-time greatest musical regret. Children, heed the words of a regretful old man. Always go to the show. Always. Damn it, I mean always. Whatever else you are doing is not as important as seeing your favorite musician perform live. For all you know, he may die in a helicopter crash before you ever have another chance.
Joe Day I had the exact same experience, except I was in grad school. Had the opportunity to see him on that tour and thought “eh, I need to save money, and anyway I have a ton of work to do, so I’ll catch him on the next tour.” The morning I heard about his death will be etched in my mind forever. And the opportunity to see him in person was lost forever ...
I was 10 feet from Jeff Healy watching him jam in the 2001 Long Beach Blues festival with Jimmy Vaughan and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. I was just watching them with my mouth wide open in awe! Bad Ass!!!
Frank Gonzales I’ve seen many Reactions ask “how is the crown so calm”. I saw Stevie is dive bars...You can’t help but just stare are listen, its all an experience and so moving.
I saw Jeff on the Hell To Pay tour in Hollywood, Florida in 1990. The Button South. After the show I bumped into his drummer, Tom Stephen, in the back of the club. I saw him come out of the club and asked him to get me Jeff's autograph. He went on the bus and there was Jeff sitting near a window. He went inside the bus and I saw him give the paper to Jeff and then when he came off he gave it back to me. It happened so fast. He then went back on the bus and that was it. I waved goodbye and felt as if I had caught them at the exact moment I needed to get an autograph. I was one of the only one who waited for them in the back. I knew I was staring at greatness. The show was so damn good.
The best blues guitar player ever, next to BB King himself. Sitting on the bluff of the Mississippi River in Memphis watching and listening to this man play his guitar is one of the great joys of my life. Thank you Jamal. 🎹🎼🎤🎷🎺
Man, I wish I had been able to see Stevie Ray live. I saw his brother Jimmie live, awesome concert and I saw Jeff Healy live twice. I'll never forget it, amazing. Real talent, real musicians!
I imagine there are many Canadian artists you have never heard of besides Jeff Healy(RIP). A lot of great talent has come from Canada. Bands like TRIUMPH, BTO (BachmanTurnerOverdrive), APRIL WINE, NEIL YOUNG, JONI MITHCELL, THE GUESS WHO, BRUCE COCKBURN, THE TRAGICALLY HIP....lotta good talent has come from Canada, people just dont realize it. All they think of Canada is Justin Beiber and Drake.
LOVED this reaction AND this entire performance. Perfection. I love the way SRV shares the spotlight and can enjoy the talent of other musicians.. as well. 🔥 📛 👨🚒 🚒 🧯 🎆. R.I.P. Guys.
You talk about him getting out of his chair, I saw him at a club in Stuttgart, Germany early in his career. He jumped out of his chair, kicked it over and ran to across the stage, sliding to a stop with his toes right at the edge. We talked to one of the stage hands who told us he paced out the stage before every show so he would know how much room he had.
I need you to react to Robert Johnson. He's the king of the blues and the father of rock and roll. I recommend doing some background on him first. It'll make his songs more impactful. I like to listen to Crossroad first, then Hellhound On My Trail, then Me And The Devil, then finally Preachin'. You should also watch the video Robert Johnson Exposed.
It's called having respect for one another, sharing the love that music can give to everyone. You, sir are a good man and I love your videos. Have a blessed and wonderful day.
Yes! when talent meets eachother. It can be explosive and the feeling is difficult to explain. Even after so long this clip gives you that moment back like many others. Thank god for audio and video.
I saw Jeff not to long before he passed…in a small club up here in Canada…even though you could tell he wasn’t feeling up to par, he still gave everything he had. He was a joy to see and so wonderful to talk to, joking and laughing. I feel so blessed to have been there.🙏 Sweet, sweet man. Peace
What an event, 2 of the best ever at one go, beautiful. Short aside, I saw Jeff Healey's first show in Montreal and I saw Stevie Ray and Joe Cocker 2 weeks before he died, both incredible performances.
Randy Snodgrass What? Anyone with ears can agree that this song is 100% influenced from Pride and Joy. Idc if it’s from another album that’s irrelevant. Like I said in my comment, i’m not hating, I like it cause it sounds like Pride and Joy...
These cats were the best at what they did, and I truly wish I’d had the chance to see them jam out like this. you’re right, man, the music just goes through you. It puts you on a whole ‘nother level of consciousness.
"Willy the Wimp" by Stevie Ray...a (basically) true story of a low-level mobster who had an OUTLANDISH funeral (in Chicago) who was buried in a mini Cadillac!
If someone slaps you on the back while you’re making tha stank face, I hear it gets stuck there...but is that really a bad thing if you’re listening to a couple of guys burning the place down like this??? 🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸
Jeff was a personal friend of mine.. I met him in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada while I was a bouncer at an Irish pub in Port Credit.. he was visiting a friend of his who was a singer in a band called the meteors...
Wonderful! I posted a link to this yesterday. I'm glad you put it up so everyone can see and enjoy it. Kudos, my man! To see Jeff jump up and start jamming like that with Stevie with a huge smile on his face was such a treat. Keep resting in peace, guitar guys. Peace, bro. Thanks again. You're awesome.
SRV played in Toronto, Canada just before he died and I was at that show. He "opened" for Robert Plant and he blew the roof off. Plant was great but Stevie was just out of this world.
Ooh, I had forgotten about this classic ! Normally I don't like blues, but Stevie Ray Vaughn has a very special place in my heart. I find myself enjoying more bluesy tunes as I age, though !
Ok cool, I had mentioned this video but I couldn’t remember which song they done. I just ran upon this and I’m so glad you found it. Warms my heart to watch these two. Very special footage. Notice how Jeff really gets into it when he jumps out of his seat. I love it. Can’t believe i couldn’t remember the name of this. Only heard from Stevie seems like a million times. ❤❤❤❤❤ what a collaboration 🤟⭐️🍸🧂🇺🇸good ole American blues and I love it.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥pure fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jeff Healey was brilliant. We saw him at a small jazz bar in Montreal playing classic jazz trumpet. A completely different side of him, but equally talented. Both of these performing legends have to be a part of the best heavenly band ever
wow I never saw those two together thank you that was awesome .. I mean I loved Stevie Ray and Jeff Healey I never knew they played together you made my day 😃
i love the way stevie ray vaughan and jeff healy INSPIRE EACH OTHER,FEED OFF ONE ANOTHER and more importantly ENJOY playing guitar with each other !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rewatched roadhouse lastnight out of nowhere and felt great, but tonight i feel better cuz you got to know them just like i did. Respect man, honestly.
Yes Jamal!!! This is what we came here for!!! The Cat in the Hat With a Strat and Jeff Healy..how the hell did Jeff safely make it back to his chair??? Lol Thank God he did🎸🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏💞💞
Tonight for the first time in my life at the age fortysumthin I believe i made a stank face when the Jeff Healy solo started around the 3 minute mark. Sweat lord have mercy i thought i was about to leave my body and just ascend to the afterlife. it's tragic the world lost these two talents so young.
My girlfriend saw SRV live & she bawled. She said He was singing right to ME!! I said I know Honey, been there with Bruce Springsteen so may times. THAT is what makes a GREAT artist!
That night Stevie was saying to Jeff ,,,,,you can play on stage with me any time son, honour was Jeff's.HalleluYAH!!! That boy has the Holy Spirit in him.Amein.
