You have to figure it’s been at least an hour between the time the officers arrived, and she made it to the station, and was blood alcohol checked. So you know her blood alcohol was even higher than that when she caused the accident. There is no excuse.

My mother was a county officer and she made sure us kids understood that she wasn't going to help us if we did stupid stuff. Getting a lawyer excluded, of course. The point is, she only used her position once. She was on the way home, I think she was sick or had to use the restroom, and she was going about 10mph over the speed limit. Got pulled over, showed her badge, explained, and was let go... quickly. She barely made it. haha. She never used her position for anything more serious than that because she said she wanted to set the example of doing the right thing. I think she also got a ticket after that, too. She paid it. End of story

The last one is without a doubt a bad arrest, but the unlawful search thing is likely going to be thrown out since he gave them permission to search the vehicle before the dog was even brought out. Doesnt make the rest of the arrest any better though, Georgia really living up to the southern stereotypes there.

I'm Canadian and my brother was a provincial officer. Unfortunately, his oldest son had some issues and was self medicating with alcohol. He lost his licence and totalled a couple of vehicles. Every time they called my brother he would go and get him when the arresting police were done. My nephew's mental health issues sadly won and he's been gone almost six years now. 😔

I saw the same reaction video from earlier and it completely makes sense with the last case about the dog smelling narcotics. If you are not aware within the states of America, people roll up dollar bills to snort drugs. So every dollar bill you might have there is a possibility of there being drug residue on it. So the dog might have smelt dollar bills from someone else who had the dollar bill to do drugs.

Well, there goes this guys squeaky clean future l He’s practically in tears talking to his father, a judge. He’s in law school. There are quite a few paths that will be blocked by having an arrest. Yes, we call it “driving while black”. It puts you at risk of being stopped and considered for any and all, possibly bogus reason. Yes people get shot if they do something that’s a bad idea, like panic and start to run. I personally think that dying because you didn’t comply with an order to stand still is overkill, unless you’ve been identified as an armed criminal, but not because someone pulled you over. I’ve been pulled over for doing “California stops” where I didn’t come to a full stop at a stop sign, and speeding once. nothing interesting. Sometimes I’ve been driving in the fast lane and a motorcycle cop pulls up alongside my left, leans over and peers inside my window. then leaves. I think he’s bringing my attention to my rate of speed, so I back off the accelerator. My cousins say, they’re trying to see if I’m black, to decide whether to pull me over. 🤔 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am mixed ethnically. Just to be safe during any traffic stops, i clip my title and registration to the outside of my glove box

the last video of this compilation finally got settled a week ago: A June settlement payment of $267,500 has ended a Black lawyer's federal lawsuit against an Arkansas State Police trooper accused of racial bias during a 2020 traffic stop, court records show. Lawyers for Marion Humphrey Jr. and state attorneys representing Trooper Steven Payton reached the agreement to dismiss Humphrey's 2-year-old lawsuit after mediation conducted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joe Volpe. The arrangement includes State Police paying $35,000 in legal fees for Humphrey with no admission of wrongdoing by the agency.

They have to have reasonable suspicion or consent. A dog can sniff around the vehicle without either, but laws vary on how long they can keep you on the side of the road waiting for the dog. For reasonable suspicion, they still have to get a warrant that states what they're looking for and where they believe it to be. if they do a search without any of these things and find something, it can be thrown out in court. Fourth Amendment: 'The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. @Kirinketsu_
@Kirinketsu_ 11 месяцев назад
Well the thing is based on the area and department, cops can be trained to find a reason to give you a ticket or arrested you, a rule among cops is you do not use these tactics on on another or their families. The fact once she told them her dad was a cop and worked for the sheriff, and they didn't tell her okay do not say another word so you do not incriminate yourself and wait for your dad to get here, would likely cross that line with many police officers. Based on how the system is setup in the area, a sheriff office can do a lot of harm to a departments funding, and you do not want to be the person reasonable for losing funding which can cause officers to be laidoff. Another part of that is doing a field sobriety test on her. These test have been proven to be BS. There are so many small actions that can cause you to fail, and when the test has been given to sober athletes in controlled environments for testing the failure rate is around 50%....the fact she is crying, upset, etc is already an issue and they should had no given her a test...also the fact her father didn't tell them no do a breathalizer or take her to the station for a blood test is crazy.

I've got mixed feelings about the last one with the dog. I know drug sniffing dogs can be a useful tool but it feels like an unverifiable way to force a search. Similar to an officer saying they smell weed during the initial stop. Even if the dog was not encouraged by the handler, there are so many things that can cause a dog to give an alert. It is not like the handler can ask the dog did you smell drugs, food, an animal, doe urine, etc.

Narcotics dogs should not constitute probable cause, they're unreliable. They are simply a way for cops to search vehicles when they have no other evidence of a crime. 17:00 I'm not black so I can't say what that's like and there's definitely been some really bad shootings/borderline murders of blacks by white cops so I can definitely feel for the guy but I will say that when that stuff happens to a black guy and it was a white cop it gets far more media attention than any other race combo which also always makes it seem like its about race when in reality it happens to every race at the hands of every race its just that those involving white on white or mexican on mexican etc get very little media attention because it can't be turned into a race debate so that also factors into it sadly and in situations like this it seems to just result in making everything needlessly worse. It also differs or at least seems to differ a lot by area too, in part because there's so many different law enforcement agencies throughout each state that there obviously going to be plenty of them all across the spectrum of good to bad and you usually only ever see the extremes in the media, I've had cops that could've thrown the book at me but let me go and I've also had cops that showed zero respect and flat out lied on the police reports which resulted in me having to go through a several month long court battle in which the prosecutor threatened to add on felony charges if I fought it/sued the city. The last case was heart-pumping. Driving/walking/running while black is a thing here. The 1st case has been resolved. Being the child of a cop did help with the resolution--misdemeanor, no jail time. Given he father forced her into the vehicle and stated why she was being charged drove home the point, no get-out-of-jail card for you. After her parents forked out the money to hire the atty to seek the reduced charges, no doubt, she got quite the earful at home. In her case, I suspect there will not be a repeat. The 2nd guy--a grown a** man in middle age--with that kind of record--his daddy has been enabling him his whole life long. The fact the warrant was withdrawn AFTER this jerk turned in his paperwork--that is HIS responsibility---not his daddy, not the cops, no one else but his own dumb a** self. He just felt too entitled to follow the directions b/c of who his father was.

Used to get pulled over all the time. It was just a daily part of life where I live and grew up. The key was to just do what the cop asked. Never get combative or talk back. It was almost like a game. Get pulled over, cop says some lame ass reason why I got pulled over. I just played along and after the cops ran my license with no wants or warrants, and the fact that I was being completely cooperative, they would just let me go. I even used to get stopped just walking down the street in my neighborhood. I'd hear the siren and out pops the cop, grabbing me and slamming me against the hood of their car. They used to love to do that. During the heat of a summer day, the hood of the cop car would be like putting your hands on an oven door. But they loved to make you put your hands on said hood while getting searched and no matter how much it burned. The cop would say.. Don't you take your hands off the hood, or I will arrest you. Just an FYI that Sheriff's department isn't technically a local department - they're a local agency. They typically don't do patrol - they mainly do court process , process serving as well as emergency services and security. It's a bit convoluted but the way it works is local pd has the city to deal with, sheriff has the entire county, state police have the entire state as their jurisdiction. The deputy seems to have handled it well, although he shouldn't have gone to the scene - but he might have prevented it from getting worse for his daughter because she was becoming resistant.

Depends on the county. In many counties, Sheriffs serve as standard law enforcement. In many places the Sheriffs department is the only local police. They are where I live.

It depends on the state. In NJ the SD mainly handles court and jail. Don't try to tell me how my state is run when you don't know. @@bigdaddyc4471
