If you'd have told me 20 years ago that Maven would turn out to be one of the most knowledgeable minds in wrestling, I wouldn't have believed you. But here we are, and this man is beyond interesting.
@@Journey24215 I guess from your perspective, maybe. But that's laughable to say a guy who didn't even last an entire decade in the WWE is one of the most knowledgeable minds in wrestling
Hogan had no problem putting other wrestlers over, so long as it meant something and there was a plan for what’s next. You may not like him but Hogan has one of the greatest minds in wrestling.
How about Stone Cold refusing to put Brock Lesnar over and walked out on a match he was advertised to be in?…Hogan never walked out or pulled a no show.
Hes still in great condition for it so id definitely bet money on it happening at some point in time. Ive seen worse returns. Like Cena, who despite his popularity really shouldnt have came back just to give a nudge to LA Knight, i like Knight but he couldve gotten over with the crowd without his help honestly, they were already screaming his name. But to come back just to help someone in promo’s and to then get rock bottom’d at Wrestlemania then never appear again? Bruh wtf was the point?
@@user-ln4gv2ly2e tf are you even talking about? Did my comment about cena hurt your feelings or somethin? Just cause i didnt like someones return means i dislike the company? Yeah ok bub☠️
@@fadethechannel talking about the script their handed of how the entire fight is going to go. there use to be a site that posted the script for the show and the fights followed them word for word action for action
Knew a guy whose father was a pro-wrestler, back in the territory days. When he got into his teens, he started working at some of the matches (setting up the ring, etc.) and got "smartened up." He would then find out the results of the matches, go into the audience and clean up on bets.
Is he though? I mean, I like watching him talk about the business and stuff but besides getting told by the undertaker to throw him out of the royal rumble, what else is this guy done?
@williamsmith666 when he slammed that big nasty giant in front of 300000 hulkamaniacs brother it scraped the paint off the roof and his hemmohroids brother
Maven please do a video or short on WWE catering. What did they feed you? Was it all-you-can-eat? Were portions strictly limited? did they allocate you extra money for a food fund? Was it all paid-for? Did you pay for your food out of your own pocket? So many questions. You know the old saying "Abs are made in the kitchen"
If it’s an all-you-can-eat then I wouldn’t mind being in catering 😅 Sure I won’t get tv time but having contracted pay while eating my favorite shit and playing 2k with the homies sounds fun 😅
@@TsikoMania thanks, just watched it. Although, it was more so about how he fed himself on the road. I didnt know WWE personally fed the talent and would like to know more about how they do that when they move venue to venue
@@Paulie705 seconded. Every now and then you see those interview clips with wrestlers talking abt their run in the big W and stuff....they always joke that the catering is phenomenal......and I srsly need to know more 😢
In small independent promotions everybody arrives one or two hours before the show and there's a booker that according to how many wrestlers show up, keeps the ongoing storylines upper in the card and fills the rest of the card with the wrestlers that showed up and when he figures out who's wrestling who and what kind of match, which usually takes up just a few minutes, then he puts the card on a visible place where the boys can see who they're wrestling and start talking business.
@@maaduece5132 on small independent promotions we mostly call the spots in the ring, but since we now who's over, we talk about how's it going to end because we can't do what other guys are doing for their finish, but it's all between wrestlers, we just inform the booker.
Maven easily wins for my favorite videos to watch lately. I wonder if he took Diction or Elocution lessons b/c he is so clear, concise, so easy to understand and oddly warm for a Pro Wrestler
I trained on a Local Promotion up in Ontario, and I always had so many questions about the business. If I went to Comic Con, I would always try to meet Guest Pro Wrestlers and ask questions about the business, this was one of the ones I haven't had answered yet. Thank you Maven!!!
I remember that episode very well, Team Orton defeated Team Triple H at SS and Bischoff was on hiatus for 4 weeks. Benoit, Orton, Maven and Y2J were the GMs for each week. Good ol'times.
He left the WWF in either 2004 or 2005, so it's been close to twenty years since he's worked for the WWE. He provides good insight into how things were back then, but let's not pretend that time has stood still and nothing has changed in the last twenty years.
You're not wrong. But you always have to leave room for an audible to be called mid match, or a storyline to adjust things. Like sure, you are basically guaranteed to be on the losing side of that match, but it's never 100% certain.
Well Maven was a mid-card guy. If you’re at the top, that’s the schedule you’re referring to. If Maven went against Triple H, of course he’d know he wasn’t winning lol
curious about the details of the match you go over with a producer. I imagine it's based on storylines and the experience of the guys involved. If it's a standard midcard match with veterans that's not part of a larger storyline then do they basically just let you guys figure it out? Im guessing if it's a main event match on a PPV where maybe they need to set up a new program or have a very specific ending in mind to move the story somewhere then the producer is more involved
Hopefully WWE (they) don’t get mad at you for sharing their secrets. Stay safe Maven you are very knowledgeable and appreciate the fascinating WWE info you share. This stuff you’re sharing is GOLD! 👍🏻
You know even the winning is great you win like the big prize you when maybe the championship you get the praise from everybody but I would say losing would slightly be better not financially more but more entertaining cuz you got all that emotion all that raw pent-up emotion
or it can be WCW where the agent's smoking a cig and says "we'll figure it out later" as the music is playing and you're about to be introduced for your match.
I feel like a question I'd have is how quickly/willing are the Producers and WWE to changing the results of a match, and how quickly can they change the storyline afterwards? Take for example this weekend's MitB, what if the actual person who was supposed to win gets hurt early in the match and can't continue, how would you determine who the new winner will be and what the future storyline will include? 🤔
Usually, for multi-people matches, they have backup winner(s) in the match. The intended winner can also have a say on who they might want to get over so they can get their moment that rarely happens. But usually, it's up to the producer(s) of the match and Vince/Triple H/ HBK on who wins the match in case the intended winner can't finish a match.
@rodo9813 ah okay thanks. I know it's pretty easy to change with a one-on-one match, but for multi man matches this was something I was always interested in. The same could be said for the Royal Rumble, what if the actual winner was accidentally eliminated, how would they recover from it
@pokeadam115 so with the royal rumble, the person that is intended to win and get accidentally eliminated will win the elimination chamber or have a way in the title match just so it can push the storyline. It's really hard for the person to win the royal rumble change since the winner is usually chosen between Summerslam and Halloween. So everyone in the locker room knows well in advance who is winning. Like I said, with multi-people matches, they have backups. Like each rumble, there's always a few finalists that look like anyone can win. The exception is the last 2 RR, where we knew way before Summerslam 2022 Cody was winning, but Royal Rumble 2017 and 2018 no one really knew who was gonna win. That's the reason I like big matches with multiple people that anyone can win if you have people who have a storyline that can work. Like this MitB and 2025 RR, you have so many people in the match to push each of their own storyline Drew with his chase for the World Title, LA Knight and Jey Uso trying to get their first Singles title, Gable been looking for a chance to win Gold after so long. Then you have Andrade and Carmelo, who are trying to prove themselves, and why they belong in the match and prove they're in the top and the best just like everyone before them.
Maven was the first celeb I ever met. I worked at Burger King in Manassas Va circa 2001-2003 when he was on tough enough. I was cashier. And he walks in orders just a whopper. And that’s it. He had on a white tough enough shirt. Eyebrows thick. I didn’t say anything because I was star struck I literally was obsessed with that show
Frfr… it’s like we’ve all been watching his influence on the business and we wouldn’t even notice unless someone told us that Arn has his hands all over WWE
Love the fact that Maven hasn't revealed anything about the business that wasn't already or at least being shown behind the curtains. He knows what he can ruin in the art with carelessness and he knows there is a right time and way to do it.
Maven, I was a huge WWE fan in the ruthless aggression era and remember many of your matches. Your RU-vid content is next level man. Great stuff, and I look forward to following your channel.
It’s cool how as a kid, wrestling seemed like a bunch of jacked up dudes just fighting. As I got older, you learn how it’s just like a regular job with procedures and roll calls
What kills me is how Maven didn’t get a bigger push smh. When he dropped kicked undertaker and eliminated him from the rumble I was like oh yea this dude is gonna be big. Not to mention his energy was great! Definitely a missed opportunity! Hopefully he’ll come back one of these for a special appearance or maybe even a royal rumble mystery contestant.
