Personally, I think it's possible to make anything work in fiction. All that matters is how you execute it, mainly in how you have it impact the story. I really think that if UrbanSPOOK had gave the more extreme topics in his story both respect and relevance to the plot, he would not nearly be as controversial as he currently is.

I feel like premise of The Painter could've been better if it's a story about the portrait paintings get deteriorated as it started to affect people inside said painting. That's like the cosmic horror version of _The Picture of Dorian Grey._

Always felt like disturbing material in horror mostly works when handled with tackt. Like, just using with without care comes across as callous, epsecially when the horror is closer to reality. At least that's how I look at it.

The reason why the over the top violence works for terrifier is because terrifier doesn’t take its self seriously

I feel like The Painter went downhill when the series stopped focusing on tracking down the killer and just delved further and further into being more and more shocking. I was okay with it having taboo subjects, but the story was so much more interesting when we were finding out more of the mystery. Like when I first saw the implied action that there were two killers, it added a lot of intrigue. I love his artwork and I think he does a good job at setting a creepy atmosphere with visuals and sounds, it just doesn’t work as a story. It’s like the “A Serbian Film” of analog horror. An interesting concept with potential ruined by just revelling in disgusting and taboo shit for shock value. Also not a fan of selling shirts of some of the victims. Reminds me of how people were selling the uhh….ugh…the “newborn” prop from that disgusting movie on eBay. I think the idea of Terrifier 3’s trailer being “too far” is kinda ridiculous though. Art has made it very clear he has no issue killing kids in the past movies lol.
@dogd4ze
@dogd4ze 12 дней назад
Yeah you gotta look into the art thing, because its been stated a plethora of times that the art in all hallows eve is NOT the same as tf1 and 2. And in neither of those films is there any child death (caused by art) so i think its safe to say that, while idm him killing kids, i think if we just watch a little girl get hacked up with an axe by art for 5 minutes it’d be a bit much.

With Terrifier 3, the whole series is all about black comedy and splatter gore. @@VEZOK54 My issue with everyone saying its distasteful is that they ignore that most horror movies have kids (usually older kids or mid to late teens) who get killed in graphic ways in films like scream, halloween, friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street and sleep away camp, so I don't see why the terrifier 3 teaser made people mad, I get not wanting to watch certain films because of content in the films but its not even out yet and are already upset about the fact that a character who is a child could get killed is in my opinion really dumb because its not new and has been done before.

Let me preface this with, I am a massive horror fan. I grew up at the tail end of the 80's, slasher, horror, gorehound Troma movies were my bread and butter in middle and high school. But... The problem is, splatter gore isn't usually...well written. It's genuinely just shlock. The only time I have seen slasher type film really correctly use the whole "Child Death" thing well is, of all things, Halloween 3. That LITERALLY changes the stakes of the movie at the end and makes it all the more crushing when they can't stop the plan. Otherwise it's just literally there to be like "See! we are so edgy! We have no limits!" And I genuinely have a problem with that for multiple reasons. One of the foremost being, continued exposure to violent media does indeed start to desensitize people to violence. This doesn't make them killers outright obviously, but, it does start to soften people's shock to genuine violence. Now, child death is so shocking because it hits humans at a core, primal level. One of our strongest instincts is to protect our young. That's why you can see 2000 soldiers or adults explode on the news and no one bats an eye, but a maternity ward getting bombed will mortify everyone into demanding action. If we start to desensitize people to child death via "Mindless" violent media, who freaking knows what road that might go down. Children are already starting to become targets of more random, wanton acts of violence. I feel like maybe we as a society need to step back a bit and chill from shock horror and such so much. It might have been fun while it lasted, but it's starting to seem like society can't take it. Too many people with too many uncontrolled mental issues with access to too much media. And with the world being a massive ball of suck anymore, kids aren't safe anymore IRL, it really sort of sucks to see it becoming more prevalent in our fiction as well. Hard to escape reality when the death's of hundreds of Palestinian, Israeli, Ukrainian and Sudanese kids are all over the media and in the back of your head, coupled with this month's annual school shooting, and then you turn on a fictional movie and are slapped in the face with a kid getting killed.

Like people are so oblivious to whats going on in the world!

As a writer, I will use dark elements in order to further a plot or a characters growth. The thing about the Hero's Journey Ideal is that you can very easily warp it and bam you have a Villain that is not only synpathetic, but grounded and real, and vice versa. However, I am also very aware that in horror the best elements of it are those where YOU are the one conjuring your own conclusions as what's going on from clues presented to you. I hate in Horror movies when they feel the need to slap the Monster or Creature on screen as soon as possible. It removes... tension. It removes the gravitas about them. In fact I wrote a slasher villain persona type thing for a halloween costume idea. Part of what makes the costume design so unique is that 1 the outfit is all black completely removing the silhouette and warping the perception of his physique. He has a voice modulator that allows him to change his voice, even using his own becuase it again serves to cloud and warp the perception of him. His mask has component's to it. One where its completely dark, one where its got white in areas making certain parts visible and one completely white so the entire mask is visible. The idea for this is built around the idea that if he appeared before 6 people. What would they each see/hear and perceive and what would they tell the Police? Would they be seen as helpful or as unreliable? Playing with tension right. So even in my own fiction if im writing something dark I will feed you a small amount of information and then cut to black, allowing the reader to fill the gaps in themselves therefore allowing their own interpretation to be what the event was and how it looked to be the canon event that took place all the while remaining tactful about it all. Grim dark not grim stupid

If it fits the theme, if it foreshadows something, etc. Nothing is off limits, its just about what you DO with these topics. And the farther you go into them, the more respect they actually need. Interesting. I think another good example of going to far is the alien/predator franchise. In AvP2 there was the scene in the hospital with the woman in Labour. AvP2 isn’t anybody’s favorite film in the franchise but even those who enjoy the film struggle to list that moment as a highlight. That’s because the alien/predator films are equal parts fear and heroism and having a heavily pregnant woman, in Labour being further impregnated by the predation is far from heroic. Typically pregnant mothers and children are archetypes that are either saved or immune to the plot. That is why it is a huge shock when a child is killed in a film. The Blob (1988), Mutant (1984), Demon Knight (1995), Evil Dead Rise (2023) and the short story Rawhead Rex that got a feature film in 1986 all surprise you with the death of a child and the result almost always signifies that nobody is safe. Halloween 2018 is another good example after Michael kills a child (Kevin) making the scene with the babies cot a lot more tense. It confirmed that kids are not safe from Michael. Nobody is.

Yeah, just gonna regurgitate what... Well, everyone has said- The Painter was just made to shock. It has a really great premise, but it executes it poorly. I already am terrible at handling deaths of child characters, but I can acknowledge when it's a good story(Frankenstein is an absolute masterpiece, one of the greatest books of all time, but like hell am I reading it again. In something like The Prince of Egypt or even Five Nights at Freddie's, I can handle a bit better due to an afterlife being clearly set up and present in those stories), if a story is really good I can just skip over the scenes I can't take after I've already seen it. But this series is just mindless cruelty, it has no substance, there is only the bare minimum of a story, and it handles topics in the worst possible way. It really does cross the line a lot, and it's just uncomfortable. I have similar opinions to Terrifier, the first one especially just is too cruel for my taste, but at the very least they haven't shown kids getting killed in overly mean ways like the adults do(well, sorta... I think that one scene with the cereal was just a dream?). And I think it's really important to mention, if people enjoy this stuff, and see something in these types of media that I don't, good for them. I really feel bad when others paint(heh) people as monsters or downright evil for enjoying a piece of media, even if in my opinion that media crosses the line, like in The Painter.

The thing with stories involving children is you could do it if it’s done right for an example fnaf Scott Cawthon did a good job writing a story about children being murdered at a pizzeria and later on getting revenge on their killer and William after actually having some goals, unlike the person who made the fan game Dormitabis where the guy just fr made a game about himself because he’s an edp.

I’ve been reading some extreme horror and splatterpunk stories; while I’m certainly no expert, I feel like I can at least see the difference between horrific torture just to have really fucked up stuff happening (like Aron Beauregard’s works, or The Bighead) and something actually traumatizing like Matt Shaw or Wrath James White. There’s one book I found, Insane Bastards by Wade H. Garrett, which I couldn’t even finish. Not because it was too disturbing, but because it was basically just two depraved psychos doing fucked-up stuff to literally anyone with a shadow. There’s kind of a rule with drama and horror: you can only get so close to the top before it loops all the way back around into self-parody. Very rarely, like Aron Beauregard’s book Playground, have I ever seen it go back up to the top again but logic dictates that you can’t start at 10 and stay there.

I think early splatterpunk (80's/90's) could be great. Joe R. Lansdale, Clive Barker, Poppy Z. Brite, Michael Slade, etc. are authors that wrote shocking stories with style and ambition. Unfortunately, it's been taken over by lazy people who want to make a name for themselves without effort, and because splatterpunk fans are generally about critical as porno fans, they let 'em get away with it.

I think people are getting upset with Terrifier 3 for the same reasons the MPA is hard on certain movies with their ratings and not others. The measure of mainstream success is starting to be weighed alongside the content, which feels sort of unfair in the case of Terrifier. Art the Clown has always been depraved, even before his own feature films. He was just as vile in The 9th Circle and All Hallow's Eve, but they were very small scale indie flicks. Now, the creators managed to totally self fund (kickstart) and release an almost unprecedented success with Terrifier 2, and people are prepared to hold it to the standards as other movies that release and pull in those sorts of numbers in theaters. What made Terrifier 2's theatrical run a success seems like kind of a double edged sword in this way, even though it's still an indie film through and through. It's harder to brush it off as "underground" when it has a wide release that makes back the budget by a factor of fifty and the standards it is being measured by are starting to scale with the attention.

Just found this video, and your take on Terrifier 2 is a bit wild to me. The movie is a SLASHER film being a tribute the 80's horror icons while trying to go a bit farther with them. The little brother was absolutely injured, but why wouldn't he be? Theres NO stakes for that character if i dont know that Art is gonna actually try to get him. How many kid characters fly by in horror films? If Art gets a hold of him, that kid is boned. Full stop. Most people knew what they were getting into after the first one and enjoyed the movie immensely for what it was trying to do. Someone compared it to Hereditary here in the comments, and that's absolutely laughable. Not even close to the same caliber they were aiming for or wanted to be and that's a pretty disengenuous argument. The urbanspook guy created child characters with the soul purpose of being killed five seconds later. THAT'S garbage.
@kitkat6442

Yeah comparing hereditary to terrifier is laughable. That’s like comparing the paranormal activity series to the dahmer series, then complaining that paranormal is unrealistic like Bffr. I dislike when people claim to be horror fans then don’t know about the categories under horror. That being said, it’s fine to critique. Even the classics have issues. Being a hater just to hate is no fun tho. I will say that I dislike terrifier but I’m not going to judge people who do like it, just not the horror I’m into. Credit where credit is due though, they attempted a plot for the second movie. I give the first a pass because it was just an indie movie they didn’t expect to blow up plus it being a slasher, leniency in critique is a give in imo. Now they’ve done 2 and making a 3rd. I’m fine with gore but I want more plot for 3. If I wanted pointless violence I’d watch a true crime show. Unfortunately I think they’re going to focus all their attention on outdoing the last movie in gore that they lose the plot. I’ll still watch with my friends bc they like it but it won’t be free from my critique 😈

The Painter has the same edgy tone as Laughing Jack or Jeff the Killer and it's just terrible. It caters to edgy kids who think it's "realistic" because the antagonistic evil is not supernatural or cosmic like the vast majority of analog horror is. The Terrifer films are just throwbacks to the gore horror films of the 70s and 80s so it kinda gets a pass from me even though it's not my cup of tea.

This will be a really long comment since I have a lot of thoughts about this question a lot myself, but I hope some might agree with my takeaways. I like horror a lot in theory, but as I’ve been trying to get into it more recently, I’ve often found that much of it feels “too far,” and leaves a bad taste in my mouth - especially with gore and sexual violence. Now, one could say “wahh you’re too sensitive horror isn’t the genre for you”- except the thing is, I’m not that sensitive. There’s some media I find brilliant that includes both. Tetsuo: The Iron Man is an example that comes to mind. For those who haven’t seen it, it’s a cyberpunk body horror movie in which a guy is being turned into a scrap metal abomination. To give an example, at one point his dick turns into a giant drill, and another character commits suicide by - uh - inserting it into herself. It’s plenty gory and disturbing. Shutter and the Alien movies are other, albeit tamer examples. So why are they not “too far,” but stuff like this is? In my opinion, it basically comes down to: The Painter, Terrifier, and similar torture-porn-esque media punch down. They take vulnerable, innocent people and just put them through abject misery, and you, the viewer, are watching it from a position of safety and power. Therefore, the experience of viewing it isn’t scary - it’s objectively more similar to something like Mortal Kombat or John Wick. The difference being that in those works, the “victims” are more or less on equal footing. Reptile and Subzero are both badass roided out ninjas, so it’s not really a perpetrator/victim situation. The blood and gore is there to establish the power of the winner at having defeated their foe, not the suffering of the loser. But in something like Terrifier, the “winner” hasn’t defeated anyone. There are no stakes. The fate of Outworld doesn’t hang in the balance. It’s just fellating a murderer you have no reason to root for because he butchered a bunch of helpless schmucks who didn’t have any say in the matter. Therefore, there’s nothing for you to be invested in unless you’re a misanthrope or sadist. Because there’s no inherent reason to root for Art but there’s also little to no empathy or dignity afforded to the victims, and you already know going in that they’re going to meet gory deaths because that’s the only reason they exist at all. The movie is just nothing. It’s not scary, it’s not interesting, it’s not even really upsetting, because you know it’s fake - it’s just purposeless. Same goes for The Painter. Theres no reason to watch it unless you specifically are a fucked up person who gets off on it. However, things like Tetsuo, Shutter, and Alien put you in the shoes of the victim. Rather than just showing people getting brutally harmed, they respect the victims. They view them not as “victims,” but as PEOPLE first and foremost, in a situation where they are victimized. They acknowledge the inherent injustice being committed, and in doing so, get to the meat of WHY these atrocities are scary; because they fundamentally violate our human dignity. They saddle us with pain and affect our ability to connect to others, and sometimes they even shine lights on parts of ourselves that we’re ashamed of. The physical, material reality of flesh, skin, organs, and blood being torn apart isn’’t the scary part - that happens literally every single time any carnivorous animal eats another animal in nature. The scary part is our REACTION to that material reality when it happens to us or our fellow human beings. Fear. Grief. Violation. Suffering. In short, trauma. Trauma is the root of all horror. But addressing trauma is hard. It’s messy and uncomfortable, and inherently requires the work to treat its victims with respect and acknowledge their human dignity. So garbage like The Painter just doesn’t bother. It depicts the material reality of violent acts being committed, then stops before the actual “scary” part, which are the social and psychological issues these situations raise and the suffering experienced by the people affected. It’s lazy, disrespectful, and tasteless. It punches down. So really, my dislike of it has nothing to do with me being “sensitive,” and everything to do with the fact that it and works like it just suck. Not because they go “too far,” but because they don’t go far enough. They don’t put in the effort to address their subject matter.

I agree with everything you said. To add onto it, I personally find that if those kinds of media have a point(be it fighting against censorship and etc) I can at least respect it. I like the first Terrifier because it does have the feel of an 80s slasher(with more emphasis on gore but still). With The Painter I can’t really understand the point? I know Urban has said that he made the series to promote his art. It’s just like, why not make original and completely separate art for your merch? The point is lost on me and I can’t make a point for myself to justify the series. He also has a history of making light of these extremely serious traumas(if the old RU-vid channel found is believed to be his, I haven’t heard any updates on that). It’s all around confusing and conflicting for me.

@@lukacunty well said. I didn’t make it clear in my text wall, but I actually was contextually talking about the third one, since it’s what was being discussed in the video. I can definitely relate to the kind of portrayal you’re discussing in Terrifier 1 - again, Mortal Kombat is a great example because it’s capturing the feeling of an old school, over-the-top martial arts movie, just pushed to its logical extreme of over-the-top-ness. Even Tetsuo, for as disturbing as it is has a lot of “fun” parts - the final battle is practically a kaiju throwdown. While it does have all kinds of weird sexual imagery and moments of extreme graphic violence, they all contribute to its message - focusing on the aggression and insecurity that can be part of masculinity, and the dehumanizing aspects of being a salary worker in a Japan undergoing technological accelerationism. Like with Terrifier 1 (from what you’re describing, I haven’t seen it lel), the disturbing content is there to drive home the intent of the artist and convey what the movie “is” to the viewer. I think that’s a perfectly valid use. But as you say, that’s not what The Painter is doing. To be honest, I think the creator is probably doing it because he WANTS drama and controversy, which, in a fucked up way, is actually promoting his art now that I think about it. I mean, I certainly would never have seen it if not for this video essay. But exploiting real-life traumatic topics solely for self-gain like this is beyond shitty. Just admitting you’re doing something bad for attention doesn’t make it any less bad, it just means you care more about internet clout than respecting others, and you’re not self-aware enough to realize what a giant piece of shit that makes you. But may have to watch Terrifier 1 🤡 🔪 if it has that retro vibe you’re talking about Also, I just want to make clear that I’m not advocating for censorship - but there’s a difference between backlash and censorship. Censorship would be trying to force the creator to stop making it, or having them punished legally or financially for having made it. Trying to forcibly erase its existence. Shitting all over it, saying how terrible it is, and calling him a piece of shit, on the other hand, is not censorship. We have just as much right to shit on his “”art”” as he has to make it. Freedom of self-expression goes both ways.

@@kaijucobalt2064 Again, agreeing with everything you said. You couldn’t have put it any better. I also in general just feel this negative vibe around the series as a whole. It sounds crazy but it’s like I can sense Urban’s intentions if that makes sense? I’m not usually a spiritual or gut instinct kind of person, I usually give people the benefit of doubt. I just can’t with this series in particular. I don’t mind media having child exploitation in it. I like the Lacy Games series and There’s Children Under The House, both contain and alludes to CSA. I obviously don’t mind heavy gore and descriptions of it. It’s just an ick that was amplified by finding out what the creator thinks and does. About Terrifier 1, most of the movie is spent in the classic final girl cycle. They made the main character pretty likable considering they don’t give much to her character(or any of them for that matter lol). There’s also classic character tropes like the dumb drunk blonde, the clueless janitor, the crazy person, and the person who arrives at the end. I find the effects to be really cool and done well. Of course the actor for Art the Clown is the highlight of the films. As for warnings, gore(including body mutilation), there’s a weird poop joke at the beginning of the film, and nudity.

I wholeheartedly respect Urbanspook Urbanslug for how far he goes with the Painter. We like to think in writing and creativity, there are lines you can not cross. And that is 100% not real. I remember reading the Jurassic park book for the first time, and it opening with the tiny dinosaurs eating a newborn baby, and the describing the mother going to check on her infant only to see the flesh be eaten off of the baby's face. So I can respect how Urbanspook does not hold anything back, and I'll give you it does kinda get satirical how far he goes every video. I also respect how he will call out and cuss out people on Twitter/X. Because we've all seen content creators with massive following kinda submit to the flack their audience gives them because they don't want to lose their audience. There are plenty of horror movies discussing taboo subjects and they do it in a way that's still watchable: Giaglo films, Ari Aster flicks, movies like Talk to Me and Smile that came out recently. Hell, the Saw franchise is full of horrific gore and violence and is still one of the most successful horror movie franchises in the world. Just because it's not as violent as you'd like it to be doesn't mean that it's "weak" or that the "horror community is coddled".

In my opinion, I think the biggest flaw of _The Painter_ is not its controversial content, but its messy presentation. I definitely think there's an argument to be made about how it trivialises horrific subjects, but the mere presence of them is not necessarily bad in and of itself; from its inception, horror has had a history of being subversive and willing to tackle taboo subjects. The thing that disengages my sense of disbelief with it, funnily enough, is the fact that the series can't decide if it's meant to be in the form of case file tapes, or public service announcements. If it's the former, then why would you end it with a call for the public to call with information about the killers on a piece of media they wouldn't be allowed to see, and if it's the latter, why would you share all this important information on the case on a public channel, where the killers could potentially see it and adapt their strategy to become even harder to catch? It's just poor writing, something that could easily be fixed with a bit of closer oversight. That being said, there are some parts of this series which I can appreciate in spite of it not really being my cup of tea; the creator definitely does know their stuff when it comes to, well, _painting_ - each new piece is uncannily detailed and suitably ghoulish to match the killers' actions in universe, though I think we can all agree that the use of one particular example as a T-shirt with the context it has in the series wasn't the best idea. The 911 call in 'Family' is also really chilling; I think the voice actor used did an outstanding job. Finally, I can't help but give it some props for at least _trying_ to do something different in a genre which has become irreversibly oversaturated by highly formulaic, nigh-identical content. In short, its position within the Analog Horror subgenre is pretty complicated.

I think the criticism of the series are valid, The Painter is not really a good series, is a story that seems to go nowhere, I watched it as it came out so I didn't notice how repetitive it gets when binge watching it but I think people are overreacting a bit, there's instances where shock and gorey horror can be done and it doesn't needs a big narrative behind it I don't see this discourse when surrounding stuff like disaster movies or giant monster movies, millions dying in a catastrophe is also something horrible but it is fiction. FNaF literally tells us that murdered children corpses are inside the animatronics and I've never seen someone complain about it, there's merch about said animatronics, paraphrasing Into The Depths "Try and explain your shirt about a murdered child" We all agree that child murder and SA is something beyond evil and horrible to say the least This is a fictional story intended for mature audiences, people can like it and not like it and that's okay Maybe I am desensitized to gorey stuff bcs I consumed so many bad creepypasta back when I was a teen and I don't want to seem like I'm defending The Painter series as it was a masterful analog horror work of art cus I am not but I genuinely don't get the whole fuzz surrounding it, is fine if people criticize it, mock it and dislike it but like is not the worst thing ever The real issues lay with Slug not being able to take criticism (and his rambling when responding to someone trying to insult them without using a slur)

There seems to be a massive issue nowadays with people being unable to distinguish fiction from reality. It’s as if modern culture is reverting to the ideology of 1980’s Europe. Personally, I feel no one should be off limits to tragedy in horror. No woman, no child, no nothing. I’m just sick of the plot armor. If you can’t handle it, don’t watch it. Cause call me sadistic if you want, but I love horrific deaths and disturbing subject matter in fiction. I want to be disgusted and appalled, it makes things fun. People say it’s “insensitive” and “distasteful”, but to put it bluntly, I shouldn’t have to be considerate of the feelings and emotions of sensitive individuals who shouldn’t even be watching this sort of thing in the first place. I’m a simple man who despises censorship. I just don’t want to live in a world deprived of creativity. I guess people just don’t appreciate shock value anymore. They much prefer watch actual beheading videos to feel shocked. God save your souls if you ever read the opening scene to the Jurassic Park novel.

If the characters in "The Painter" were real people, then sure, there's something to be said about whether or not it's appropriate. But, it's all fictional. As for the story being "bad" - it seems to me that "The Painter" isn't really a narrative; but rather just lore for Urbanslug's art. To be clear: I have not watched "The Painter", nor have I watched any of the "Terrifier" movies; nor do I have any interest in doing so. But, I don't think there's anything wrong with either, and as long as there's nothing illegal then it's not really anyone's business.

Yes, it's very "meh" in general and the only thing it has going for it is the images are kinda cool. And yet, despite the painter being just a boring gore fest, I see video after vide o popping up in my recommended tab talking about how bad this horror series is. Why does it get so much attention? I also don't understand why does inclusion of children in a horror story requires some special treatment. It's like murder, SA, torture being there just for shock value is fine. Kids involved? Now murder, SA and torture have to be used to convey a deep message about childhood innocence or something.

Both extreme body horror and sa can work in a story when done right. DOOM’s gore and brutality, especially when it comes to Doomguy butchering demons, is to show his rage at the harm the demons cause to innocent people. In both Berserk and the movie Barbarian, sa is used to show how terrible people can be to eachother, especially women. Gore can also be used to establish a character and the threat they pose. It’s just edge for the sake of edge, and while I enjoy some things that are dark and fucked up pretty much just for the sake of being dark and fucked up, such as the death metal band Cannibal Corpse, at least there’s some passion that goes into the music, and I enjoy it. There’s no passion in the “story” of Urbanspook. It’s just Urbanslug coming up with demented ways to kill people because he thinks it makes him cool, and because he’s a spiteful bastard. I think with any art form, you do have to accept that it may not be for everyone. If his choice is to go crass, then that is a choice that he should accept isn't going to be for everyone, and he can defend it however he wants. However, there's crass, and then there's inconsistent. I dont think you can make a series about how horrible these crimes are and then throw up a merch plug for them like its nothing. At best, it kills the impact in the story as just a cheap reason to advertise a t-shirt, and, at worst, it's glorifying a try-hard serial killer. Sure, no one has a problem with Joker merchandise after everything he's done, but at that point conflating a random obscure internet series with one of the most iconic villains in pop history is just self-congratulatory.

The worst part about the painter is UrbanSpook in general. The minute he got any criticism he immediately proved everybody correct and showed his ass. Everybody was saying it was just shocked for the sake of shock value, and then all he did was immediately add another episode with more shock just for shock value. He was simultaneously claiming that they were wrong, while literally doing the exact same thing he was claiming not to be doing at all. His personality is garbage, and his insecurities about his work shows when he attacks everybody that criticizes it. He's a terrible creator, and to be honest I don't even think his paintings are that good. But at the end of the day, it's one thing to use something for shock value, it's another to like write stories and make paintings about it. I feel like people who spend their free time painting pictures about women being raped by animals and children being raped and mutilated, should probably be looked into by the authorities. The dude is off his rocker, this isn't just like shock value stuff, this is stuff that he spends hours painting and obsessing over and then decided to put it on the internet and claim it was an ARG.

Also, I believe in free speech, and sometimes free speech can take people to dark places and that should be allowed, despite popular belief, free speech is not infinite. You can’t say anything you want like shouting bomb on a crowded plane or drawing a painting of a nàked child. There’s actually a law against the latter, CP is illegal in any form, even written form like a story and honestly the F-boy painting based on an actual picture of an underaged boy might actually cross that line with some judges. But even if it doesn’t, I feel like graphic images or stories that go into detail or show detail of child murder or SA should be lumped into the same category as CP legally speaking, and made illegal. I’m not saying we can’t have stories like Stephen kings IT where a monster hunts or eats kids but we don’t see it, that’s different. But a graphics story detailing the disembowelment of two 11 year olds in order to make a pleasure doll should be considered inappropriate in the extreme, and considered a violation of youtube’s policies at the very least
