this thing flies like an actual brick when stock. It's impossible to do anything without losing massive amount of energy and altitude. Every turn will cost you at least 500m loss. Not that it can climb back either. The gun is trollish and misses at the worst time. It becomes death, the destroyer of worlds when spaded though.

As with several other German „second line“ aircraft it was severely hampered by its underpowered engines. If Henschel would have been able to use BMW 801‘s, it would have been a formidable tankbuster IMHO. However operating under some kind of protection by friendly fighters would have helped too. As engine production never was satisfying the needs, all aircraft not being bombers or fighters had to use second line engines. A Hs 129 E with 2x BMW 801‘s would have had more than double the power than the versions equipped with Gnome & Rhônes. A significant difference. It would be interesting to see its performance if one could swap the engines in this game as a what if scenario. Cheers, Michael.
I read elsewhere that one of the design requirements was to not use engines that were in high demand for other aircraft. The BMW engine you mentioned were mostly used for the FW 190, I believe. The HS-129 used French built engines that the Germans plundered from France.

I read once that they were originally supposed to get the same engines as the FW190, but the Germans didn't have enough for both. I imagine the Duck would be so much better with two of those powerplants instead.
"Engines weak as desk fans" It's not a secret that Hs 129 had weak engines. bUt DiD yOu KnOw, this plane was originally intended to use even weaker engines?
I let the Duck go a couple of times in my Spitfire:) It just feels wrong to shoot down a Duck using an dedicated fighter plane:) On the other hand, I did hunt down some Ducks because they love to wreck Cromwells:)
The Duck is basicly outdated when the new Swedish 57mm attacker (that has more speed but still the same br) comes out even tho this plane pens more armor with an obvious attack to a tanks roof the 57 can still pen and devastate targets especially if you need more than one shot for a given target hopefully they address this atleast that plane is part of the swedish tree
especially the A/u4 🦅 that thing is just Resourceful every situation ++ the B2 duck🦆 also can be really good attacking and agenst enemy divers with stoke 2x 20mm and 30mm MG103 its a dream
I unlocked the mighty duck yesterday and have so much fun with it. You can play it when you have taken 1 flag or killed one other tank. So I rush at the beginning of the game to a capture point and then rush like a crazy person because nobody expects it. When I die what certainly happens you are almost all the time the only plane in the sky to take down a few tanks before you have to land or taken down yourself. I find it hard to manoeuvre and yes straight up after a diving run is the best. Enemy planes will take you down in 80%+ most of the time. But the feeling when you see a tank and knowing your gun is OP is just amazing. Remember pull up because i certainly don't do that in time most of my dive ducking sprees.
Any idea how to actually survive in it my enemy isn't aircraft its actual ground units like tanks that just manage to blow my wing off and then i always crash cause my plane cant seem to make a turn after it takea a hit. I survive aircraft atyacks which is kind of a shocker.
because they couldn't make them in any meaningful numbers, the B3 is a late war variant that only saw production numbers in the 20s also they would have to cram the autoloader into the tank (which would take time to redesign, not something Germany can afford to do this late in the war) and the gun is based on the PaK 40, it's been on tanks already
Remember, it was an aircraft heavily underpowered. It could barely fly, and was next to uncontrollable. It proved to be useless. This aircraft killed more crew members than enemies. It was very soon retired, as a failure.
I managed to get back to my airfield with 1 almost dead engine at around 500m of altitude without any flight performance upgrades, but I just barely made it. Its possible, just really hard to do
Everyone saying that this plane isn't good have no idea what they're talking about. It oneshots every allied tank up to 4.x reliably, and I even oneshot a Tiger 2 i in a custom match. If you're skilled, you can even destroy modern MBTs. The energy loss in turnes is only a problem for inexperienced players.
Nope I’m not a duck there’s a premium plane called the ax something or other with two very good defensive duel 12.7mm controlled by one guy that is amazing as there rotation speeds great and have great angles it has 2 12.7mm offensive mgs and a 75mm auto cannon with 105mm of pen
I just started grinding tanks after playing only planes in war thunder for years. The hs 129 pisses me off so much I almost feel like quitting tanks because of it. Its always the level 100 try hards that play this plane and then they equip one or two other really strong tanks just to get enough points to spawn the hs 129. Then when they get shot down they just leave the game and do it again. It's so toxic. All at 2.3 br which us basically bottom tier tanks full of noobs getting shit on when they're just trying to grind the tech tree.
XA-38 is a lot better than this. Fast and maneuverable. Well its 75mm cannon has slightly worse shells, but it has more ammo plus can carry 4 500lbs bombs. Plus it has gunner with 2 turrets with 2 .50 cals in each one.
I would be happy if they gave you the option to jettison the 75mm gun when under attack like the real-life plane did. Keeping the 20mm cannons would be nice as well.
