Indira Gandhi, the PM, once asked Sam Manekshaw if he was planning a military coup. Sam Manekshaw responded to Indira Gandhi that he is not interested in her dirty job and that he is more than happy with his own job as Army Chief. (He wasn't yet given the title of Field Marshal wen this incident happened.) This man had a great attitude.

Late CDS is nowhere near this legendary officer. Sam is famous for never having punished a single soldier. Late CDS went around making statements in media defaming and humiliating and calling his own disabled soldiers who got disabled in the line of duty thieves for receiving disability pension worth which government only entitled them. No comparison, my friend. One was a god, the other…. Nothing like it.
