J 24 i was in Italy, on an MSC cruise full of European tourists (most of whom spoke no English) and one day we met another American family and it was great
Yea I'm from St. Louis and I'm trying to go to college in LA. My family lives there and every time I visit, I hold open the door(one of those midwestern manners i guess) and everyone asks where I'm from. I love LA honestly the weather, the culture, but the midwest is pretty cool too.
@@James_008 California had the most millionaires, billionaires, the tech industry, Hollywood, the music industry, the biggest ag economy in the country and the 7th biggest economy in the entire world overall. In short, some of the most effective and thriving capitalism the world has ever seen. What were you saying about communism again?
@One Cpt Obvious California contributes by far the most money to the federal government. It's literally one of the few states that actually gives more money to the feds than it receives. Go back to the drawing board with that terrible embarrassment of an argument.
Wasn't born in CA, but grew up here. Parents NOT from here. So I learned stuff from my parents more than other californians. Must be why I don't feel like I fit in here. I went to Mexico for vacation, met a couple from Canada and we become good friends. Nice to speak English with people. Went to a bar one night, under a thatched roof. The other woman asked me what is that? pointing at my arm. I looked and it was a huge cockroach. I about jumped out of my skin. They grow them huge over there.
MrSteelermania Okay, I’ve been to Canada, eaten the Poutine, but never heard of a “meat raffle,” is it what it sounds like, or is that a euphemism for something else?
I had the inverse experience. I'm from one of the slivers of the Midwest that say soda, so when I made friends at college from the coasts I would have experiences like this: "Hey, can you grab me a soda?" I say "What?" because I couldn't hear them. "Oh, I'm sorry. I mean 'Can you grab me a *_pop_* ?'" "Oh, you want a soda? No problem. Also, to me it's soda, not pop."
“People are animals here” - Midwest is such a bubble. Try making conversations with people throughout your day anywhere else and it’s just not the same. “Hi how are ya?” Everyone:
The difference is rarely is that person a stranger. Hell strangers cant even exist because everyone knows someone that someone else is related to or friends with
people act the same everywhere, you just don't realize it because people act like they are on a higher level purely based off the region they live. Its this competition factor that has taken over how we view regions. The generalization that people act differently, or have a different personality, than one of that in a different region, is probably the most bull shit lie I've ever seen.
@@dinnerroll8704 this is the second video I've watched today and people commented the ope. I haven't noticed it yet, until looking back. Hits way to close to home.
Minnesota traffic is nothing on the other states despite construction. After driving in Chicago’s 94 (ft construction) and (Miami and Orlando) Florida I realized I have it really good here in Minneapolis.
Straws banned and 10 cents for plastic grocery bags, yup, that CA. I had to buy a reusable straw. It's telescoping, metal, comes with a brush to clean it and all fits in a carry case. I only use straws when I'm out so that'll work. Went to Costco last week and they gave me a cardboard straw. Some places even ban the plastic lids. They must like cleaning up. Last time I went to a movie, they wouldn't even let me take my water bottle inside. Wanted me to buy a plastic water bottle. I save landfills by NOT getting single use plastic water bottles and carry my own reusable one. I was born in Ohio, mom from Wisconsin, Dad from Illinois, but his mom buried in MO. I say soda or soda pop. My folks called the couch a davenport. Maybe that's why I can't stand the traffic, the rudeness, the crowds of CA. Never really felt like I fit in here. Now that my parents have passed....doesn't feel like home anymore.
Straws aren't actually banned. You can still buy them at stores. Restaurants and Fast Food places can't give you one, if you don't ask. Just ask for one, I always do. You may have to ask for the lid too but they should have them. Many places are using paper straws to be more environmentally friendly. Weird about the water bottle at the movie. I see almost EVERYONE now carrying some type of reusable water bottle (hydroflask, thermos) and they have let me in the movies with them. Bottled water definitely is less popular than it used to be.
In FL🌊, plastic straws are banned generally in restaurants. They have the flimsy kind made from corn that is biodegradable. In one grocery store when you bring your own bag, you get a 10¢ credit deducted from your bill or a donation token to drop into a depository - a choice of three local non-profit organizations. I'm from IA with siblings living in S.D., so I can imagine hearing some of these comments coming from them & their sheltered existence.
I didnt get some some of the jokes because Ive never left the midwest in my life, so Ive never heard of Coach Ella or in and out (thats what she said) burger
@@mattwodziak1750 Just had In-n-Out for the first time this weekend on a work trip. Really wasn't any better than any other fastfood resturant. Waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy overhyped.
Nate Mehl the best part about in and out is the prices. I would say they are just above average burgers, which you can find anywhere. But you can’t find a double cheeseburger for 4$, or a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato for 2$. You can get 2 double cheeseburgers for the price of one cheeseburger at five guys. Agreed tho, its overhyped
@@bradsailer7739 I worked at circle k, most of the time we didnt change the hotdogs because no one bought them so they could be on there for days. Hope I didnt ruin it for ya 🤣
“I have yet to see a cloud...” As a Californian who regularly travels to snowy lands (I’m in Berlin right now and the forecast for tomorrow is snow), it’s the complete opposite. As soon as the snow falls, I run outside and twirl around in it with the joy of a child seeing snow for the first time. It both bewilders and mildly sickens locals who have been over the weather for at least 6 months.
Haha love your channel man! Started traveling to the Midwest with work a few years back, from North Carolina, and you guys are awesome up there! Met some really great people and CULVERS IS THE SH*T! 👌🏼
Pocahontas 2020 Don’t worry we’re not about to move over there. Far too much snow for most of us. I can hunt birds all season in a pair of brush pants and a short sleeve shirt. In two hours from the ocean the mountains the desert and the mountains. Our political leaders may suck and the taxes are high, but if you do what most of us do and just ignore the unconstitutional gun laws they attempt to enforce then it’s not so bad. I know you guys think that everyone in California thinks like San Francisco but it’s not really that way.
Exactly this is America I’ll go wherever the fuck I want haha not everyone in California is the same bro we are all different we all don’t think like San Francisco as most people say we all have different views ... and you can find cheese curds in California as well! Hello world ☺️ and have a great day😁
You know he is Midwest if he asks is there walleye in there! My favorite fish hands down little golden fried nuggets of walleye can make anyone’s day!!!
