This is a very good topic to bring up. Im already into this offense in my 6 months of self-learning Pickleball. I tested myself and done this kind of offense during the Spring Fling 3 Tournament in Tustin, Ca. last Sunday. I was aggressive in my offense playing at the net...and not giving opportunity for the opponents to slow down the game into dinking. It is either they pop up the ball, beat reaction time, or passing the shots, of me defending and pushing in the ball at them. Im happy with the 3rd place on my debut at 4.0. In coming months ill improve for more to become better.

Very helpful lesson for intermediate ((3.5) players like me who too often try to attack a lower than net ball (because we see pros do it). Thank you for helping me improve!

Here is the net game where my badminton skills come into play... i provoke opponents by returning controlled shots faster and harder(may also target the body) causing to react in hitting back the ball with late reaction response, with ruined rhythm, and with to come back to me/or my partner as pop ups to attack for an easy put away point.

Great video! Which balls are you using? Most so called "good" players do not use Onix Pure 2 because they "bounce" too much.

I know you did a video on how to dink volley and getting familiar with grip pressure but how do you volley dinks without getting them to pop up high? I notice your paddle face is slight open, is that the key to keep dink volleys from popping up?... btw great video as always!
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 5 лет назад
Yes it’s a combination of adjusting grip pressure and paddle angle (face of the paddle). Keep drilling and you’ll get the feel soon!

About the open paddle face: a good thing to remember is that the more energy the ball expends going UP, the less energy the ball expends going FORWARD. So basically, opening your paddle face (in addition to softening your grip) can help you keep the ball from flying too far and becoming attackable. The same principle applies to direction. If you find a lot of your straight-ahead volleys are going too deep, you can try angling them and going cross-court. With a simple change in direction, a shot that normally would have been attackable now is not, even if you hit it with the same level of power.

@@TakeOffYourBoots oh thank you. Thats great advice. I will be sure to implement these techniques next time I play and see what happens for me. Thx!

5:54 So that was a slow easy ball that you volley dinked. But what if it was a ball that wasn't a dink, but rather you were in a volley exchange with your opponent, and the ball was sent to you at that mid-height but at a much faster pace? Would you counterattack volley? If you try to block it, I think you wouldn't be able to drop it in the kitchen since it came at you with too much pace. You would probably risk elevating it and giving a meatball to your opponent if you tried to volley dink a fastball attack, even if the ball reached you below the net.
