What do YOU prefer? DRIVING or WORKING on your car? Let me know down in the comments.
For me it is a balance of the amount of time I am working on the 1969 Mustang against the amount of time I drive the car. Since I spend the majority of my work week in an office, I really like being able to just sit down, relax, and work on the car. I probably prefer working on it over driving it! Am I crazy? let me know.

It's typically a good idea to envision what kind of driving the car will be used for before you start working on it. If you want a race car (dominator carb, solid roller cam, quick change rear end, stuff like that), you'll be working on that thing a lot just to dial in the tune, and you'll quickly go down the rabbit hole of looking for more power wherever you can.

Yea. That is a great idea. Especially can help out your wallet longer term if you invest in what you want interchangeable early in the build/process rather than needing to buy new parts and replace things.

I used to enjoy working on my old cars just as much as driving them, but since I've gotten older I definitely enjoy driving them more!👍

What old cars do you have Mitch? I don’t think I’ve ever asked

@@SmackeysGarage at the moment I have a 1969 corvette and recently picked up a 2006 Pontiac solstice.

@musclecarmitch908 very cool! I like those older vettes and I remember wanting a solstice when it came out. Such a unique car!

I'm with you, I enjoy tinkering on the car more than driving it. :)

I’m curious to know goes many miles you’ll put on it. I probably won’t get much!

@@SmackeysGarage I was just looking at that the other day, I've put about 1200 miles on the car in the past 18 months(since I installed that 347). :)

That’s great! I’ll have to check mine tomorrow. I’m probably in the low 100s

I’m probably working on it 99% of the time. I drive it once and can’t help but think… “ah it would be so much better if I upgraded this on thing”… and then the one upgrade leads to 5 other modifications… that leads to … “well since it’s apart, I might as well upgrade this other thing”. Not a huge fan of crawling under the car but my favorite part of owning a classic car is shopping for new parts and doing the research.

You sound exactly like me! I'm not a massive fan of getting under the car either and really will only get under it if it is on ramps or wheel cribs. I use jack stands where necessary, but I prefer working on it from above.

Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. I prefer both working and driving it. I don't try to do major projects on the vehicle. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT

I like driving my cars and work on them because I'm not happy with something which is a constant. So I'm 50/50 drive and work

Im externalising a really complicated equation in my head. I dont have car Munchausen by Proxy, but I sure do like modifications and bringing a car back from the Dead. 🥝✔️

With my 65 fastback ,Truth is got mine in 98 I've been trying to get it road worthy, I think in that time I drove it maybe 25 miles on the road. I'd much rather enjoy it for once, now the rear frame rail came through the trunk floor, so I pulled out the engine and put it in my foxbody so I don't make the body worse collecting body parts for now

They definitely take time to get road worthy. Too bad about the rear frame rail. At least you get to enjoy the fox with the engine. A 65 fastback is a great car. Need to get one here one day

@@SmackeysGarage highly recommend lol I love your 69 but just something about the 65s,.. yes good 302 fox is solid and had a crappy 2.3 that wouldn't run, so why not,

Do you ever plan on Running drag tires? If so please let me knoe your rim and tire sizes. I have a 1969 sportroof and would benefit from your info. Thank you for sharing your mods they have truly helped me.

Yea. I think I do. I want to replace the Goodyears on my car right now. The T/As aren’t providing great traction anymore and the white letters have changed to brown. If I buy some this year, I’ll create a video about it. I’m running 15x8s in the rear right now.

I do like working on my car but I don't like to have it down for long periods of time. I like to go to the local cars and coffee and monthly 100 mile rallies. The car culture where I live is really active.
