I had grand visions of success and cracking high 11's during drag week, this car has gone bottom 12's with the auto on street tires. What actually happened, was I took a car that I hadn't raced in 6 years, put it on slicks (which I've never done), and raced it in temps over 55 degrees (which I've also never done, it was mid 80's to mid 90's this event). On top of that I dropped from a 3.73 rear gear from the prior 4.10's on a 100% fresh rear end. Didn't pan out as I had hoped, between the 28" tall tires and 3.73's I bogged off the line virtually every run, I also had bad heat soak and IAT issues. But I managed to at least finish the event without any major issues, barely got back into the 12's with a 12.9 on day 5, and got to watch my friends in the black car take home the class win. The black car is a very dialed car thats gone 9.80's before, they know every inch of that thing. On the live stream footage at the very last race against the 1st gen Camaro, you can see my co-driver and I talking to Tony Angelo after I was yelling with joy that the black car won the class. I'd like to return in a few years once I have enough power to overcome anything else I overlook, I've got a MMR 850 5.0 stroker sitting here now ready for "we're not fucking around" mode. In the end though, I'm not building a drag car or a race car, it's just a weirdo project.
