My landlord dropped by and said he'd get someone out to look at this ASAP, they came and checked it out and said they'd be right back. That was a month ago. I found this video this morning and fixed the issue in 15 minutes before I left for work. Thanks, RepairClinic!

Great video. My interior panel cover (the black plastic backing) was significantly different than this one, but once I got that off, I found that it was my three-way (COM) switch on the top door latch (it didn't click). It isn't super easy to maneuver in there, but I got it out the way you showed. Photos are a great idea for remembering which wires go where. $5.00 part from Amazon arrived next day. Put it back together, and voila! I have my microwave back, and saved several hundred dollars since I didn't need to buy a new one. Thanks again!

Excellent video!!! I appreciate how clearly every aspect of this video is shown. It's nice to see complete instructions. I just watched another video whereas the person began to remove a microwave out of its housing (positioned over the stove), but he only showed where the screws were. In the next segment, the microwave was out (same video). I'm looking to find out how to remove a microwave (has air vents seemingly attached) from its outer housing so I can replace it with one that works. I'm going to check out your many other videos. Thank you!

Thanks from the far future year of 2021! Upper door switch actuator came dislodged (somehow) and I just needed to reassemble it, great instructions for removing the panels and locating the door switches. I formerly did analytical instrument repair and maintenance professionally and I only wish I had instructions this well-made most of the time. Tip for others: like other commenters have said, my specific model looks a little different, only needed to remove one screw on the top side of the control panel and it slid up (look down in there with a flashlight and use a magnetic-tip screwdriver to reach in and get the one screw). Whole process took me 10 minutes.

Thanks and thumbs up for this video. Saved me a ton of headache and cash. While my switch isn't completely bad, it's been flickering. So I pushed the plastic door switch in to see if I could determine whether the switch was going bad, but unlike a refrigerator light switch, where you just release and it goes back into place, this switch sticks in place until you pull the door open to pull open the switch. So the switch was permanently closed even when the door was open and the light stayed on and the turntable kept turning when I closed the door. Thanks again for the awesome instructional video!

Thank you. Almost a similar procedure on the amana over the range microwave. I accidentally lodged the plastic that pushes the switch with the screwdriver since I kept getting door error on the screen. I just opened everything and put it back together. Seems to be working ok for now.

Our microwave made a fluttering noise and then stopped cooking, no error codes, but lights and fan still worked. After unplugging and plugging back in it showed the Door Open error and refused to cook. This video really helped. The upper 3-way switch no longer clicked and the internal contacts were black and charred. The hardest part for me was disconnecting the wires from the micro-switches.

Very good video however the most important information missing if someone is replacing all the switches. The top and bottom switches though look similar are not similar in function the default open and close for them are different. So do ensure you can and replace only one at time to ensure you don't use the wrong one. It by mistake you switch them around it will cause the microwave fuse to go off or trip the line.

Maytag MMV 5208 WS-1 When he put in the cook time and push start, the interior light comes on and it makes a clicking sound like it is going to run. Immediately, the interior light goes out and the instruction panel reads to push start. Any suggestions?

For me the problem was not the switch, but rather just the mechanical function. The microwave would not work, because it showed the door open when it was closed. I tested the switches with a meter and they worked so I sprayed the cam with silicone and it's been two months with no problems. Worth a try. Good luck!

@@chanelrobinson4738 The Cam is the white plastic that moves back and forth as the door is open and closed and mechanically trips the switches. If you pause the video at 2:17, you can see there is the holder that holds the switch, but there is also the cam which is the moving part that trips the switches. I hope that helps and I would encourage everyone to try this first and or at least test the switches before assuming they don't work. Good Luck and let me know how you make out.

I replaced the door switches however as soon as I did. The fuse blew and so did the breaker now I have no power at all to the microwave. Did I do something incorrectly I have the same whirlpool model as shown.

If I give it a whack on the inside of the micro the switch will often release. This is after I get the error that it thinks the door is open. Is that more likely just the spring? Or should I try lubing it?

We had a door switch that was broken, and we replaced it. We put everything back together and plugged in the microwave. The microwave came on and then died. I flipped the main fuse on the fuse box. When I plugged the microwave back in there was a blue flash and it’s not coming in at all now. Any idea what happened and what I need to do now?

So my kid slammed my door and broke the door latches,also popping the fuse, I've replaced all three switches and the fuse and it reads "door" and if you open the door it pops the fuse again. Any ideas?

One of your door strikes is probably missing. If the top 2 switches are engaged and the bottom door switch is not then it will pop the 20amp fuse on the power board. Look at your bottom door stick on the microwave door to see if it is damaged.

How do you know the switch needs to be replaced? My microwave inside light stays on and tray rotates but screen states close door but the door is actually closed. Please help

That's probably because the door latch isn't pulling the switch back when you open the door. I had the same problem. Instead of replacing the switch, I followed the instructions to get the switch out and snap it back to its "door open" position.

@@repairclinic Got it figure out for the most part. It was helpful to just dig in and start disassembling. I decided it was the bottom switch. Got a new one in there now and it seems to be okay.

Easy , unplug the connector, the test. I figured it out , easy. It was the middle NO switch. Got all. 3 on e bay for $12.99.

Careful with the wiring. The video puts the wires back on the wrong terminal 🤣. Shorted my fuse following the way he replaced them.

@@shinewitme2 I wasn't paying attention when I took the connector of off the switch. I then wired them based on where the video showed. Don't recall exactly since its been awhile. Just my experience so I think it is a good idea to take a picture of the connector location before you unplug them.

HELP PLEASE. I have a Whirlpool microwave WMH53520cs when you open the door and close it and enter your time and push start it just beeps and doesnt begin heating anything up? Anyone had this same problem????????????????????????
