Nice video, Bruce. Got a chance to try it on at a boutique in L.A. this weekend. Loved it! As advertised! Already a waitlist of about 40-plus folks as of that day for that store.
I just got my 3861 Sapphire in December, and love it. Love the white dial as well. What really sets this one off is the hands and indices, it would have looked washed out otherwise. Well executed, and maybe years down the road, I will have it in black and white.
Phenomenal video on the philosophies and strategies of acquiring this Moonwatch variant…Rob is spot on …would like to see similar videos like this on other topics …like 3 watch collections…I think we watch nerds are getting tired of the same diamond dozen watch reviews and would like to watch alternatives of deep discussions that concern this hobby 👍😎
I think this is a beautiful watch and in a few years may even be collectable depending on how many they make. However, if I was to buy one and only one it would be the black. Not for resale or collectability, just for the resemblance or the original. I just purchased the the sapphire 3861 with the new clasp and I love it. I know it is not the Hesalite version, but I thought that the sapphire for me would be more resistance to scratches and that polished links give it that modern day pop. However, If I was to buy another one it would be the white. It is a beautiful watch.
Why did they wait so long? The white dial smp 300 diver has endured after the hype died down and is still a very popular choice, so I think the speedy will too.
My AD called to offer me one. He said it would be about 6 months for me to get it. But I've also seen quite a few kicking around watch groups so who knows. Lol
Since this one strayed from the ‘original’, they very well should have made some better upgrades to it. To go along with new applied indices. A ceramic bezel for sure, with a new/different movement to make it an automatic. Just like they made it standard with the sapphire.
nice but am saving for the planet ocean 43.5mm all sedna gold blue dial blue leather strap gold clasp $31k for this Nov23 my b-day. Now i have the blk dial sedna gold seamaster300pro blk rubber with gold buckle. my wife has the red 41mm globemaster red leather strap with sedna gold my daughter 10yr old a casio. we were gona go all rolex but after doing research OMEGA just offers more to the custumers for your money on luxury watches. and no waitlist. if i was to buy a speedmaster i would get the moonphase brown ceramic dial with sedna gold my neightboor has it and omg its a tank.
I don't think it's perfect. I've seen many photos where from a certain angle the indices and hands look very shiny, not super legible. They went with a gunmetal grey pvd coating, in my opinion they should have opted for matte black or blasted black look so it's equally legible from any angle, but it might just be me. This way it's the more elegant Speedy vs the tooly black one, which probably is the reasoning behind it.
Sorry but i think it’s just some silly hype. What’s next? Tiffany blue Moonwatch? The way i see it, it’s just another color. I’d prefer the classic black dial
