Madison hut to Carter Mountain. Tried for another work for stay and didn’t get lucky this time. Started heading for the next shelter and had to take a nap on a rock. Good hike, beautiful weather, amazing day!

That was a lot of climbing for a day, whew! You scampered up those wildcats like a mountain goat, and still held onto the cell phone! Great filming, as always. Amazing trail footage, views, wind gusts, and the wizard of oz from the hut. Who could ask for more? Thanks for taking us along!

Amazing climb. That wind on Madison was something. Read a great book this winter called Where You’ll Find Me. Sad ending but a really interesting story about risk and choices and the call of the mountains really. Your video talent has grown as high as these mountains. Well done.

I’ve hiked a lot of the Whites. Washington many times, 3 via Huntington Ravine Trail. I’ve been atop Kahtadin at least 6 times, 3 via the Knife Edge Trail. I hiked Wildcat once. Once was enough.

At 17:37...to me it looks much like a Garter Snake - non-venomous. The word of the Day is "Scree." Man, you completed a lot of mountain and rock trekking this day...awesome job.

That's a lot of climbing you did that day!! There's a dispersed tent site part way up Carter Dome that I'm wondering if you found. Sunsets from the nearby lookout are awesome but it was too late for that! Happy Trails! ~Garmin AT'23

I had a great big windy day on Madison as well. It was sail hiking! Couldn't fall if you leaned into it.

From there on up it is no longer hiking. It’s rock climbing. Love the views and your shots of the flora and fauna. Might have been a garter snake? Definitely not a copperhead.

treat all snakes as if they are copperheads and all guns as if they are loaded and things work out better..

I have never seen a copper head in the Whites. I hike with my dog so I will be more aware. I did that hike going south bound and that down climb crushed me and I was pretty young then. I had an old external pack and it was not so fun. If your ever near Madison again and can’t get a work for stay there is a nice camp spot just down the Valley Way trail. Maybe.3 or so from the Madison hut. It where I always camp when doing the ridge. Take care

Definitely have those hiker calves!! you are a amazing hiker! Beautiful trail. What goes up must come down!!! I do not know how anyone can hike on a full tummy! Get some rest… ❤❤❤❤❤
