@@danbluedeer I am just in awe of people who have musical talent. And especially those that think outside the box and make it happen. Seriously. Who looks at a baroque lute and thinks,"White Room" would sound great on this? Only a mad creative genius. That's who.
Well, I certainly didn't start my day expecting to hear anything like this! It's astounding that anyone in the world would conceive of the notion to arrange White Room for an ancient lute, and then be able to achieve such sublime finish. Bravo!
I agree; I think Daft Punk's "Around the World" is one of the worst songs ever but I like it in a medieval version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-woVgbVM2k0k.html
Fantastic, couldn't get any better. For all those that put a thumbs down, if you don't like it then don't listen to it, I myself loved this composition. I'm sure that there are things that you like and I may not. It doesn't mean that it's bad. Best wishes to everyone. 😁😁😁🍀👏👏👏👏👏👏🤔🤔🎸🎶🎸🎶
I am an organist, woodwind player, and vocalist and although I adore pipe organs, can truly say that there is nothing more beautiful and heavenly than the lute. I may have difficulty playing it with my tiny hands but want to purchase one very soon. Your playing is amazing and all your videos are excellent and incredibly enjoyable. The English language is limited in describing such heavenly lute playing.
No music exists in a vacuum. It's all derived from some form of music in the past. This is an excellent arrangement, and shows the beauty of the instrument, with remarkable playing. I appreciate you sharing these tunes with us from time to time. Well done, indeed.
Well said! We all borrow from each other, especially in the arts. Those who create copyright laws don't seem to understand the creative process very well.
@@danbluedeer Perhaps not, but they do understand profit extremely well. Nevertheless, artists of all ilks deserve not to have their works purloined by others without due payment and acknowledgement. The situation is now pretty complicated.
Cream played with classic phrasing and baroque tone. Like being in a time machine and going back hundreds of years. Very nice and inspiring to hear. A good choice of opus.
Thanks Graham! - it would be nice for the luthiers if there was a surge in popularity like we've seen for the ukulele. Too bad there's such a huge cost difference.
@@danbluedeer I should imagine there's a scarcity of lute makers, rather a niche market I suppose. What would be a ball-park figure for a decent lute these days, either new or used?
Wonderful as always Daniel. I'm old enough to have spent my teenage years listening to Cream. Combined with my being a lutenist and general Renaissance and Baroque nerd, and you have me hooked. Thank you so much.
I've been listening to a whole array of your compositions, magical. I only hope that I may be able too experience your live shows one day, sorry as many shows as I can. Best wishes and hopes for the future. 😁😁😁🍀👋👋👋
@@danbluedeer May I ask if you are playing the piece with lute tuning or do you use guitar tuning on your lute, I can´t quite make it out just from looking. If it is standard ren lute tuning, did you convert the tablature yourself?
Omg. I love covers because they often elevate a piece of the original work for new appreciation. Yes, the psychedelic nature of the song is toned down, but the melancholy can star in this version. Always love your work. Thank you!
Awesome. Really awesome. I presume youtube took me to this as White Room is one of my favourite songs in the canon (and I've never looked up a baroque lute before!). In any case, not only is your arrangement impeccable... but... it also drew out a structural similarity with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (around the 2.45 mark) which I'd never noticed before! Thank you Mr Estrem.
