buster sales just popped out of the screen and beat the shit out of me

Turns out this wasn’t a training video, but just a 90s movie about a woman suffering from severe schizophrenia, after some childhood trauma at the hands of uncle buster

I've been trapped in that TV for 30 years...

I can imagine Buster Sales in a horror movie, being revealed towards the end to be a maniacal serial killer that says his catch phrase "now thats an opportunity" whenever he is alone with his victims.

i worked at blockbuster back in 2007 and i can confirm this is real. i remember my manager warning me about this video before watching it like "its kind of creepy, but its supposed to be funny"

the funniest part about the video is when they heard 20 hours and assumed that meant every 20 hours in the day, not every 20 hours of movie footage you watch.

So this came out in 1990, which means it was likely written and filmed in 1989...the first episode of The Simpsons wasn't until December of 1989, so it's likely that the woman being named Marge Simpson is just a gigantic coincidence!

As a former 90s Blockbuster employee I just wanted to let you know that “cleaning your VCR heads every 20 hours” means every 20 hours of VCR use (which is still absolutely ridiculous). I’m sure a hundred other former Blockbuster employees have mentioned this already. Anyway, it was glorious to watch this video again.

I think Buster Sales was an employee 1 day from a promotion due to his amazing sales experience but one tragic night the shelves containing all the Looney Tunes collapsed on him and killed him, leaving his soul to forever haunt the screens with all the cartoon props from the covers that killed him, driving him insane and into a cartoon ghost himself, who can only rest once he has a prodigy who can finally earn the promotion he so desperately wanted in his name.

I've never been so uncomfortable to be named Marie

Buster needs some training himself. He could have had her pushing candy and snacks for the baby sitter too! I worked for Black Buster for 3 months in 2006. The newer training videos were not any better. At that point they were starting to lose money to online services and were coming up with all kinds of new ways to try keeping business coming in. The basic training for employees "Make them spend far more money than they planned to when they came in!". As for cleaning the VCR every 20 hours, they are not talking about 20 hours in a day, but 20 hours of after 20 hours of using the VCR. So basically after watching 18, or 19 movies, depending on how long they played. That one I remember as a friend took a class on cleaning VCRs and she would clean them after every 20 movies.
