Theory: The hunter escaped the "pale city" and now lives on that island. He put a bag over his head so he doesn't get drawn to the signal and to cover up his distorted face. He now does taxidermy to avenge his dead loved one.
There’s a reason he wears a bag over his face is because he cannot afford a mask made by the doctor I have found out this information to do the ending explain vid
My guess is that the hunter escaped from the city, and the signal man sent people to his forest to kill him, so he became completely isolated and shoots everyone on sight.
And maybe there was a good reason he kept 6 locked up instead of killing and stuffing her? Lets say he did escape the city; so he would know the evils of the city and how the transmission changes people. Lets also say that he was the one who carved that heart into the tree. If so then i can imagine him having enough of a heart to try and save six from the evils of the city and its tower transmission, perhaps he saw her as like a daughter? And the best way he thought to protect her was locking her in the basement? Cause he obviously stuffed, killed, and/or trapped everyone else that stepped foot on the island, he had six locked up for many days, obvious from the tallies on the wall. he also never once attempted to shoot 6 during that chapter, only mono. Maybe that heart represents his love for a daughter he lost and so he held some type of sentimemt towards six, viewing her as somewhat of a daughter. All this is speculation obviously, but its food for thought. Edit: thinking more into it, he even allowed her to have a toy music box in there. What real prisoners get toys from their captor
If you’re theory with that he shot himself and didn’t die does that mean that the hunter isn’t dead after six and mono shot him but he just got more messed up I don’t know just thought about it
@@General_Tozen or the doc is just too scary, and the hunter has no boat. The doc mutilates and just messes up people at taxidermy, and they're kept alive by giving them hideous manequin bodies.
theory: Hunter is still normal, but his sack on his head makes him see half of the place, but he gets insane day by day, so he traps and kill children, he does taxidermy so he wont be lonely after his family died.
He reminds me of Elmer Fudd from Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes. Hunter: "Shh! Be vewy vewy quiet! I'm hunting chiwdwen! Huh-huh-huh-huh!" I can't wait to get that game early next year! Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Six casually munching a dead af rat on top of the Hunter's held rifle: _Ehhh... what's up, doc?_ Mono: It's _Six_ Season! Six: _Mono_ Season! Mono: _SIX_ Season! Six ... *_SIX_* Season! Mono: *_MONO SEASON, FIRE!_* **BANG!** ... Mono: **Adjusts ashy bag** _You're desthscthpicable..._
In 2:56 the hunter has stuffing coming out of his jacket now this could just it being ripped or he is reincarnated from death was stuffed and placed in the woods and that is his dead family his wife son and daughter. But he breathes which could mean that he was reincarnated but failed to remove some organs. My last theory is that he lost parts of his limbs (his shoulder and thigh) but this theory doesn’t make sense so I think that it’s his jacket and had suffered from depression after his family died and drove him mad and after stuffing his family’s body’s goes on to continue this to other beings . I have no clue why his has a bag over his head.
At the same time stamp on the right there is a drawing of a person falling maybe six knows the time loop and drew mono falling but his face is scribbled for different hats
I thought hunter was a part taxidermy that died but was revived later, he taxidermied his loved ones after they died in hopes they would be revived as well, and possibly saw six as a child he once had
I’d have to say I think the doctor is the real mask-maker. He has a whole display at the hospital. But the capturing children for export makes a lot of sense because of how small the cages are
My theory is that the hunter could be one of the run away kids, specifically the kid with the sheet over his head. One reason being that he his arm is sewn on and the kid is missing his arm. The other reason being the sack could be replacing the sheet. I feel like the run away kids grow up to be the enemy in the Pale City and the Maw. Just a thought, could be wrong, but it sort of makes sense.
Mini Theory: What if the Hunter Works with the doctor. Maybe the Hunter supplies the Doctor with the wooden prosthetic's. Makes sense since the Hunter lives in the woods. You can also see the prosthetics in the Attic ( 9:32 )
If the hunter is what makes the mask then what if the lady WAS the hunters wife? What if the hunter made the mask for the lady? In the end of Little Nightmares Six eats the lady’s neck. Maybe that’s why he is a prisoner. Maybe all of those marks were just from six?
Maybe the hunter hunts people for the twin chefs to prepare for the people or guests that enter the ship and yes this was made before he said it if he did say it
I have a theory, The Lady is trying to do good, let me explain and oyu may see my side too, The Ladys bio states "With Grateful Restraint, The Lady casts a hypnotic spell to keep the engine running. Amidst the chaos of the world outside, The Maw is the only place that makes sense. and now this rumour of an escaped child threatens everything. Nothing can be allowed to interfere. The Guests must eat. the maw must survive." What I've gathered from this is the following She is trying to create a Paradise, she is killing kids to prevent them from suffering, and using their meat to satifsy the guests, and the workers are given a purpose in this chaos. This explains why she puts so much effort in making sure the Maw is not going to die, and she turns kids into nomes because she thinks that they would be happier, i cant really find a reason fir the nomes
Due to the heart in the tree, it seems he may have been in love once. I wonder, due to him being a taxidermist, if his love died, and he stuffed them or they lost feelings and he killed and stuffed them. Perhaps then that would've left him down the trail of stuffing and killing.
Also maybe six knows how to reverse time of course cuz her name a number and she probably already shot the hunter man in escape with somebody else escape but it repeats itself and still leaves Mark's and clues
I think that the hunter is someway related to six because from what I have seen he is shooting mono not six because maybe you are taking some one he loves?
“It seems the hunter is the one making them” Then the doctor has a thing of masks from everyone in the hospital so it’s probably not the hunter making the masks, but maybe making them more realistic if the doctor and the hunter work together
I think the hunter just had a distorted face already and made the bag because he had no time to make himself a mask and was focusing on making others masks and he uses that hole in his mask to see and the breathing is because I think the air looks thin and he could have trouble breathing.
The bag on his head...might be to protect his face from the TV sending that possesses people...or he has used his own face for the taxidermy. His family might have gotten possessed by the tv. The stuffed people might be there, because he feels lonely. He might look for more children to send to the maw. Edit: like he said. The janitor seems to take care of the children
Wait. Did you mean the hung man on little nightmares 1 is the thin man who got to the moah and voudlbt stand it so hung him self? But since you showed that heres another theory: the hunter kidnapped six who was the thin man and the ladys daughter and the reason sixs coat is in the middle of the city is because when the hunter was carrying her she lost it but not quite sure.
okay, haven't looked at the video yet, b u t hear me out so we know six was trapped by the hunter, correct? and that the hunter loved, and eventually lost, someone he loved dearly. my theory is that six remined the hunter of his lover who passed away, which would explain why he was so desperate to keep them alive and trapped rather than just stuffing them like he's done before
So, every theory I've seen so far is in agreement that the Hunter is probably a tragic figure who went insane from grief, is trying to recreate his dead family through taxidermy and might be at least partially dead/taxidermied, himself. Alrighty, then!
In Little Nightmares 1 during the DLC the girl using the flashlight is seen to be the same size as Six and The Runaway Boy but when lowering and using the blanket rope she grows in size So maybe the children are normal size but in gameplay they look really small
But mono in the true ending ends up as the Thin Man so seemingly he would be the same height as probably a tall human male but is very short in his youth
The hunter has a walk and presence, that makes me think only partially in control. He has a movement like a puppet/marionette (its slight...I almost missed it), but snaps back after a short while... almost like his backstory/grief wont let him forget (cant be fully controlled) maybe that's why he didnt kill six...just a thought, just my personal theory.
I associate a bag over the head with execution. Maybe that's where he was shot intentionally non-fatally to intimidate him. Or maybe they shot him fatally, he survived and he's just wearing the bag so he can see out of the bullet hole.
About the theory that the Hunter is helping The Maw collect children... *it might be possible that the Hunter **_doesn't know_** what happens to those children* after the Ferryman whisks them away. Look to the comics; all of the children that the Ferrymen took to The Maw (the one who escaped the North Wind, the girl who defeated the Mirror Monster), they were all convinced to go _willingly_ with the Ferryman... because they thought that The Maw would provide safety from the evils of the outside world (North Wind, Mirror Monster, Broadcaster, etc). It's only after they got there that they realized that The Maw really wasn't any better. What if the Hunter _also doesn't know_ that The Maw isn't any better than the mainland? From what we can tell, the Hunter is only a loose associate of The Maw at best; while he may provide services such as skin-made masks, he obviously isn't anywhere near as tethered to The Maw as the Janitor or Chefs. Therefore, it's highly likely that the Hunter has never actually been to The Maw himself (especially considering that The Maw's official bio literally states that nobody who has entered has ever left alive). So, how could he be working for The Maw without actually knowing what it's like? Well... he could if _someone told him_ what it's like. And there's only one person fit to give an explanation to the Hunter about a place like The Maw: _The Ferryman._ We know the Hunter most likely had a family who he lost tragically 10:53 as the taxidermied man, woman and larger kid sitting at a table demonstrate, they most likely represent the family he lost. Given the Hunter likely had a child himself, why would he want to send more children to their deaths aboard The Maw? The answer is simple: _he wouldn't._ However, _that's NOT what the Ferryman told him._ Just like how the Ferryman told the lost children that The Maw would protect them from the outside world's dangers, it's likely that the Ferryman tricked the Hunter into trapping kids for The Maw by telling him that The Maw would ensure the kids would be protected from the outside world's perils. He's trapping kids and then handing them off to the Ferryman thinking that they'll be taken somewhere better, not knowing he's handing them off to the belly of the beast.
The "monster" children as in the hunter are not brought to the maw because they are like the other inhabitants the small children like six and mono they are described as animals of insects, dirty rats that everyone wants to see dead
But then why would he start firing his rifle at Mono and Six when they’re escaping? If he really believes he’s saving the kids then he wouldn’t be firing at them Unless he targeting Mono specifically
@@awesomedude2556 I'm pretty sure he was aiming mono specifically since if mono does have connection to the broadcaster then I am sure he would order others to capture him since the broadcaster is kind of the leader and it also showed that six was captured(well maybe)
@@awesomedude2556 Like Nathaneil said, the Hunter seems like he's only targeting Mono specifically, which would make sense given the Hunter could probably infer that Mono was the one who set Six free. Also, the Hunter obviously isn't the sanest dude around :| there are tons of stories (fictional _and_ IRL) of wackadoodles harming the very ones they wanted to protect just because they disobeyed/disappointed them, wouldn't put it past a psycho like the Hunter.
As for the back story, it seem the heart with the arrow was carve by a child. look at how mono and six compare to the heart. Its right near the head line. I don't it would be so practical for the hunter to get down low in order to draw the heart with an arrow.
@@JaCk-vh7yv that might make this even sadder ... often hearts with arrows through them mean lovestruck, like cupid's bow. If the hunter carved that when he was a child then that could mean he was in love with someone ever since he was a child.
@@navzee831 Maybe the hunter is still trying to find his love. He is trying to kill Mono and Six because he thinks there in love. And the hunter envies their love. Note: yeah I know this comment totally contradicts my previous
@@5harp8165 yeah. There’s nothing wrong with having multiple theories. Just means you’re more likely to be right about one of them. Also I like your second theory personally
I have an entirely different theory...the hunter was a young adult and his love eventually married him...but when the screens appeared his wife left...he thought it was because of looks so he put a bag over his head and now he seeks those who look normal and make them abnormal through his taxidermy
@@nullsnaggle5198 A small kid kills several stuff and a grown lady The same young child eats a human/transformed gnome Kids who want to escape get trapped forever as a monster. @@JoeMama-yf8dd there’s a secret ending that shadow six and normal six looks at a picture of the maw, which is theorized to be why six went to the maw, also, six starts to get hungry in the secret ending.
The hunter is such an interesting character and I really do want to learn more about him. I'm just so freaking excited for Little Nightmares 2, can't wait to see how the story continues. Edit: didn't wanna leave him a chance huh?
She drew it because she was already attracted to it I believe. She was always going to be a monster it was pretty much her destiny so the signal tower was calling to her already I believe
we know that mono is the thin man and most people think six is the governess, maybe they are so small because they turn into monsters later on, runaway kid, raincoat girl, and hospital girl where going to become monsters but they died
My theory is that the hunter is directly inspired by the serial killer Ed Gein, who was famous for killing his preys, living with human remains and the arranged body of his mother in his house. He was actually wearing the same outfits as the hunter, which is very accurate for me.
@@zanemob1429 K- I see what you're getting at with the first part- But if it is an execution hood and he either A: couldn't take it off or B: just didn't wanna for some reason, more reason to make a hole to see. 10:38 A heart with an arrow suggests heartbreak? Since when? It's a direct representation of *love* - Cupid's Arrow - rather than just a symbolic blood pump...
This is probably a complicated theory but I’m going to say it anyway. I think The Hunter was once one of the citizens who just stare at the TV in some of the trailers and was one of them to break control of the TV and hid in the woods now living as a hermit and the reason he’s wearing a sack on his head is to not see what The Signal Mans TV’s had done to him and could explain his breathing issue and now POSSIBLY The Signal Man is sending his now controlled people after him and possibly others too and is why they are dead bodies in the traps he hung cause he found out they were coming and if any who had not been trapped yet are shot by him and he’s become so paranoid that he just kills anything living human thing he can see and is why he hunts down Mono and Six. Now I believe we might see this later but I think the reason for the taxidermy is that what I can assume is that he’s trying to give him a proper burial but appears to be going crazy and propping them up like that “Family Dinner” we seen earlier. Now why is The Signal Man sending his mind controlled people after him well he’s probably not the only one and is probably hunting for others too but I don’t have a good explanation for it yet at least not until the game is out. Also sorry if the grammar is bad I’m not really good at it.
Is it just me, or would the hunter be MUCH more terrifying if he didn't make a sound at all, like a verbal sound you only hear his shotgun and boots, and this silent thing. Id find that terrifying

This is a weird theory, but what if the Hunter is Six’s father. After she was kidnapped by the Pretender, when Six got home and reunited with her father, she was locked up because he was afraid she’d be taken away from him. That’s why he doesn’t kill her as we see in the comic. The Hunter only shoots at Mono, but not at Six. He tries to kill Mono because he’s afraid he’ll take his daughter away from him. And while and while Six was away, the Hunter build his own family (the taxidermies).
@@audrinasalsabila9785 yes I now have a theory based on that : The Hunter shot himself in the face because he lost his wife , the teacher , ya know because if the pictures , and he lost her to the statics of pale city And that’s why he lives on an island far Away , and only shoots at mono , so the time loop ends
Same At this timestamp 11:37 I found it creepy at first but then i found it hearbreaking and sad. Can u imagine? You are alone and eating with a dead bodies from your victims.
Good news in the game six and mono were able to end his suffering by killing him of with a spare shotgun If there even is an actuall heaven in the little nightmares 2 universe
Maybe he's someone from the city who escaped and left the transmission's influences. It'd be why he wear's a single opening on his mask, on account of how his face would've caved in, andd his jerkish movements could've come after having his life force drained for a good amount of time. He reminds me of a hermit, living in the recluses of society.
The theory is pretty solid but since the release of the demo a couple days ago we see that the masks are probably made by another boss called 'the doctor' since he has the molds of the janitors masks along with the guests and possible chefs. Great vid tho.
The Thin man: i teleport through televisons. The Teacher: Attack my porcelain students! The Doctor: I am spooder + freaky dolls. The Hunter: I need a gun to solve this problem.
We have to admire the dedication that's put into this videos like seriously, all this little details can't be easy to find and it must take a lot of time to put all of the information and details together!
This is a very wild suggestion, but remember how the chefs were supposed to have a third brother? What if the hunter was the third brother and had escaped from The Maw and went to work on the mainland. This could explain why he looks and acts so similar to the chefs.
I don't think he Escaped, he probably was moved to the mainland to catch children to give to the Ferryman, however the Ferryman died and the Hunter doesn't know so he just holds the kids. Hence is why Six was still alive. I believe that the older boy sitting at the table is one of the first kids he caught after the Ferryman's death, but since he kept him for so long he grew to big, so he killed him and stuffed him so that he could finish his family at the table.
