This. This is why love Shira's segment. It's a slightly more wholesome take on generally "unhealthy" meals. To the people who are bitchin, if you want a legit healthy recipes, just go to those bodybuilders/health gurus channel. I'm sure they have some good alternate gluten free whatchanacallit recipes that fit your macros or something. But over here, it's still a real waffle. All the calories but at least it's now a wholefood. And that's why I love it.

I put together a dry mix of numerous whole grain flours then add eggs, oil and dairy products in moderation. And only enough sugar to cut the savoriness of the waffle and help it take on some color.

I tried the recipe the same way as you did it and it came well - but not as crispy and crusty as your result it was tasty though - but it was more like pancake - maybe it depends on the waffle maker itself or the time I wait or maybe adding bit more flour? May I try the same with corn flour? when i try baking cake for example with it the result is crispier with corn wheat flour

Looks good, but I’m not sure I would use olive oil. It tends to alter the flavor.

i really wish people would stop equating healthy food to no fat salt or sugar. ya healthy means less of that stuff but its called reading and comprehending. MORE healthy. more being the operative word. it isnt 100% health and fitness, its a more healthy alternative.

"The sugar brings out the sweetness of the berrys" if you want to bring out the natural sweetness of the berrys you should put them into a pan to reduce the water content and the acidics which are resolved in the water. ^^

Shinrak you are correct, but a touch of sugar is still helpful and extra tasty. I reduce fruit as well for sauces and fillings.

i know that im right. her argument was like "putting sugar at something to bring the natural sweetness out of it" and thats completly ... ofc the sugar adds extra tasty, but the process of bringing out natural sweetness isnt adding sugar to something...

i do not think the waffles would be healthy by just replacing the white flour with whole wheat one. it still have tons of oil, fat and some refined sugar ! but it's a bit better way for preparing waffles

those berries are having natural resources and sugary enough to exclude the sugar you added to the recipe.. be more healthy.

The waffles look great, however show me where this is considered "healthy".. also olive oil in pancakes"really"? If I followed these instructions I would think that using olive oil would give the waffles an under taste that wouldn't be good. I would use unflavored olive oil if going by your directions.. other wise I would probably use a good regular oil.

Paula Tristan I don't know why they're calling food loaded with high sugar content healthy. This is totally unhealthy. Better just eat those fruits by themselves now, that's healthy.

- 100% Whole Wheat Flour (Healthy) - Fruit (Healthy) - Eggs (Healthy) - Milk (Healthy) When it comes to the oil, you can reduce the amount or completely substitute it with something like unsweetened applesauce or greek yogurt. In place of the syrup, you can use applesauce or a berry compote reduced without sugar or only 1tbsp. This recipe is pretty healthy sans the 1/2 cup of oil. You can easily reduce the sugar and/or replace it with something like stevia, fruits, etc.

Cake Make do more baking from scratch and you will realize that the oil milk and other ingredients were very proportioned and nothing was overdone at all. The only time additives and fats/sugars are overdone is in packaged and preserved food.

Ryan B i think you've misunderstand me 😅 i really think that these waffles are healthier than the one we can buy but i use extra virgin olive oil and when i tried to add some in recipes the flavor was horrible and the texture very strange. Furthermore i'm just not used to do recipes with this much of ingredients i prefer recepies with smaller quantities 😉

It is not healthy, olive oil becomes toxic as any other oil at high temeperature. Butter resists more but healthier talking about coconut oil. And those eggs don't look nutritious in any way, they are so palid.

Ria Lyons fruits are healthy yes but the waffles aren't. Even the fruits in this video are not healthy at all because of those extra sugar.

@@OnilMarteNavarrozaStop complaining, geez. Just don't add syrup and don't add extra sugar to the fruit. 1 or 2 tablespoons isn't going to hurt you. So stop acting like the entire recipe is unhealthy. It's so simple to swap them out. You can even used something like applesauce which is naturally sweet and delicious instead of the sugar on both the fruit and in place of the syrup.
