Same here. Made me cry as well. My paternal grandmother married into a very anti-Catholic family and was away from the church after her marriage and none of her children were Catholic, but she always had a rosary hanging over the headboard of her bed. Before she died, she asked to see my mom and aunt - both very Catholic - and asked for a priest and to be buried through the church.

I’ve got loads of statues, holy pictures, prayers, pamphlets, blessed scapulars and medals, blessed candles, holy water, Rosaries etc. and it breaks my heart to think what might happen to them when I die as they are so treasured and well used by me. Some I inherited from my own mother as well. I know they are only material objects but it’s just that they represent so many of the various devotions I say as I look at them during the relevant prayers and they keep my mind focused on who my prayers are aimed at. I would love someone to love them after me. I wear some of course, like my brown scapular and miraculous medal and hope I’ll be buried with them.

I am currently Protestant in the process of possibly heading in the direction of Catholicism. And I'm repeatedly horrified at the immaturity and nastiness of Protestants that attack Catholics. I rarely see that attitude from Catholics to Protestants.

Straw manning is immature. We are trying to help but one can only help so much,before one decides not to keep throwing our pearls to people who are not willing to engage civil but more so as Christian brothers and sisters. Are Catholics perfect? No. But I recommend that when you decide to convert to Catholicism that you be the best Catholic you can be for God. Some Catholics have their salvation back packs on others don’t,but,that’s between them and God. We just pray for them. May God bless you with graces of clarity and understanding so that one day you may have your metanoia experience. Amen

I feel bad for older people converting to the Catholic church because they've already missed a lot from the church, the sacraments, the rich traditions of the church, the saints and a lot more. If you are a young person and starting to see these converstion stories, I beg you to decide now and join the Catholic church. Don't wait until you are in your 60s to realize that the Catholic church is true and only church established by Jesus himself.

Any age is good, everything at God’s own timing, not ours. We can always make the most of the faith and in having the sacraments, and getting closer to God at any age. I get your point but it’s beautiful that people come late in life, then they get to spend and eternity in Heaven, which is way better than a long life as a Catholic here and not being able to actually live the faith the right way.

I sincerely understand and appreciate your sentiments. You're on point. However, the fact of the matter is that it just doesn't work that way. Jesus's way of thinking/acting is, thanks be to God, completely different from the ways of human beings.😅 Paul used to be Saul in Judaism before he came home to Christ. So were all the apostles, and, in fact, everyone else in the earliest Church in Galilee, before the gospel of Jesus Christ fanned outwards to reach gentile lands. It's not beginning well that matters as such, but finishing well. In Jesus's parable, everyone received the same exact wages for a whole day's job, whether they worked the entire day, or just an hour. We can only thank God for these conversions; and we pray for more of such. Everyone is welcome back home to Rome, on board the plenitude of the Christian faith and practice.❤❤❤

I’m going to Protestant church and I think I had prayed for unity (in a good way). I pray for God to bring us together, as believers, in truth. I remember at a protest I stood with a young man holding a beautiful sign of Mary and we talked (he was Catholic). Then some 7th day Adventist’s came and must have assumed I was Catholic too because they gave me their book and told me to read a chapter which I think was about Catholicism if I remember. I see so many denominations and animosity, while civilization is collapsing, persecution is rising, and the enemies of the church are rising up. So many Protestants are so blind they literally say “I stand for [enemy of Christ nation]” or they stand for [blasphemers of Christ] even though many of those people recently mounted a war against the church over abortion. The often the same people bash Catholics and the Catholic Church which declare Jesus as Son of God. I am a ex-Muslim so when I enter into a Protestant church bashing Catholics it’s strange to me, it sounds like things from 1500/1600s from Europe which is so foreign to me. Why did they get rid of confession? Why did they get rid of monasticism? Why is it so wrong for a pastor to be celibate and childless? Why is the Eucharist so bad in their eyes? Why get rid of icons when a dark world needs beautiful art? Why venerate an abominable nation that holds the largest pride parades in its region while criticizing Catholics for venerating Mary and saints?

First, Mass happens every single day around the world, regardless of what day it is. Second, do you really think Mary wouldn't know when her Son was born or that it wasn't conveyed to the Apostles? Third, please show me where Sola Scriptura or Sola Fide are in the bible. Please show me where "accept J.C. into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior" is in the bible. You know what's in the bible? All the clues to when Jesus was born without stating "December 25th". Know what else is in the bible? All the clues that led us to the concept of the Trinity without actually saying "Trinity." The Catholic Church set the dates for Christmas and Easter based on historical evidence and Tradition (which goes back to the Apostles) and all Protestants follow them. You're welcome. @jeanboshears6689

@@paulcapaccio9905 to be politically correct, they appropriated the Bible, a Catholic book, and butchered it. ;) Catholic family here in rural middle TN. Our diocesan options for Mass are disgraceful, so we drive almost 2 hours south of Nashville for the TLM at the SSPX. Not one FSSP or ICKSP in this state. They were never invited. 😔 The problem with debating Protestants is that they don't listen. When you rebutt their point, they change topics and blurt out something like "well, you worship Mary!" and walk away. It's like beating a brick wall. I usually just pray for their conversion. As St. Bernadette said, "It's my job to inform, not to convince."

Let me explain that your church is the only one that claims that God can't save anyone outside of it's perview. Because other Christians are concerned about Catholics doesn't mean they hate them. Catholicism is a different Gospel. It is a message of works, laws, rule keeping,and performance. The biblical Gospel is about faith in the work of Christ alone. There is no room for mixture in this. No one hates you, but we must contend for the truth.

@jeromepopiel388 It is clear that it would be good for you to read the early Church Fathers. Hopefully, you will see why we Catholics believe and why we believe it. The first Christians were the beginning of the Catholic Church. Until the 16th century, all Christians were Catholic. The Books of the Bible were put together and codified by the Catholic Church. You claim that we have different beliefs is true. As Our Lord and Savior said, "Unless you eat My flesh and drink My Blood you have no life within you." Yes, to be a good Catholic does take a little work. Jesus opened the gates of heaven, but the road to get to the gates is narrow. God bless you.

I'm a Catholic and I know I'm a sinner but my faith in Catholic religion is forever because this is the only one church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ through saint Peter(Matthew 16:18) Whom he gave the Key and authority. And only the Catholic church could trace back at the time of the Apostle . Strong Protestant becomes Catholics and Weak Catholic become protestant simply because they never read and study the history plus brainwash by some pastors simply to add their members for money(10%) tithes.

Kate, thank you for your witness! And, what a confirmation on graces received from that “one little act of obedience- staying celibate and chaste until you got married. Of course, I am not minimizing the truth that even in marriage we also must practice chastity. I believe, God also showered me with an abundance of grace with “my little act of obedience- to stay celibate and chaste after my divorce.” I was 49 yrs old when our divorce got finalized. I planned on an annulment of our 24+ yrs of marriage, but changed my mind. Even though I did not want to marry my ex-husband for several reasons, I knew then that when I finally acquiesced into marriage that it was for keeps. So, when my ex- served me with the divorce papers, I willingly obliged and decided to stay “single” for good, despite a cannon law priest’s reassurance that my case had a high probability of being approved. I also believed that Mama Mary helped me a lot as well in staying true to my chosen life of celibacy. When I pray the Rosary, I always add a “4th” Hail Mary prayer after the first 3 Hail Marys- for “increase in the virtue of chastity and purity.” I’ll be 68 yrs old next month, still single, and joyfully living a celibate and chaste life. I thank God for His loving mercy and grace and the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our Saints and Angels in Heaven. Viva Cristo Rey❤️‍🔥🙏🙏

@MyJustOpinion, don’t be sad about the older people converting to the Catholic Church. They are blessed as any young/younger converts into the Catholic Faith! Young and old alike, the depths of their conversion matters and no matter how old they are, they receive the graces of the Sacraments, the rich traditions of the Church, the Saints and a lot more that you are referring to. Be sad about and let’s pray for those “lukewarm” Catholics who do not even believe in the Sacraments anymore (did they ever?), especially the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation. So, young and older brothers and sisters, come join us in our Catholic Faith! Have an open mind and get to know what the Catholic Church/Faith is all about! Viva Cristo Rey❤️‍🔥🙏🙏

Thank you and may God bless you

Is there a place where I can find out if the baptism I received as an infant in the protestant church I was baptized in 40+ years ago is valid? When I met with a priest he said that the Church has a list of protestant denominations that provide valid baptisms.

GET AN OPINION FROM A ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST AT YR NEAREST CATHOLIC CHURCH: JUST GO AFTER TH3 SUNDAY MASS, AFTER SUNDAY SERVICE: AND KINDLY INTERUPT HIM, THEN ASK YR QUESTION......... HE WILL BE DELIGHTED !! AFTER HIM, GO TO A PROTESTANT PASTOR & ASK HIM THE SAME QUESTION ; AFTER BOTH ANSWERS ASK GOD IN PRAYER, " WHAT IS THE TRUTH"....

Do you have a baptismal record? If your church baptized with the right intention, right matter (water), and right words (I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit), then its likely valid. Mormon, JW, SDA have different views of God / trinity, and aren't valid. If you are unsure or skeptical of your baptism, there's something called a conditional baptism.

Protestants for me aren't wrong. They were just lacking the fullness of the faith. They are well meaning brothers and sisters, just a little misled. Hoping they could somehow accept Catholicism in its full but not throwing away their protestant beliefs, just aiming it a little towards unity. They could still have their prayer meetings but this time with the Eucharist as its highlight. How happy God and Mama Mary will be, I guess

Graciano, when you say "without throwing away their Protestant beliefs", I think you mean without throwing away their fire of the Holy Spirit. Because the list of wrong Protestant beliefs is long: Sola scriptura Sola fide TULIP - 5 wrong beliefs wrapped into one acronym Eucharist is merely symbolic Baptism is optional Baptism doesn't regenerate Priesthood is invalid Apostolic succession is meaningless Not accepting the Dutero-canon .. the list could on

maybe for some. But what I've observed is the majority do "shop around" for their faith, and yet will consciously and purposely avoid studying Catholicism. If they were sincere in their desire to be Christian they would consider all options but they do not because that's not what's motivating them. Ultimately the appeal of Protestantism is that it's entirely and completely self-centered: the individual is the supreme authority on scripture; each person is a church of one.

If we put our faith in men we are in trouble. Jesus told us he came to establish his Church and that his Spirit would guide her into all truth. We put our faith in God and His Church and not in the men he uses therein. Jesus told his followers in his day to do what the scribes and Pharisees tell them to do because they sit on Moses’ seat. But, do what they say and not what they do for they are hypocrites.

Easier to be Protestant? If you have the Holy Spirit He will convict you of sin. Did you have a relationship with Jesus Christ or religion? The Christian journey is not easy. Leaving the conspiracy theories surrounding the vatican aside, how did you reconcile the doctrinal differences?
@shelion77
@shelion77 3 месяца назад
In some ways it's easier, in some ways more difficult - the second part is part of the reason why there are thousands of Protestant denomination, having no unified Magisterium, no one authority, you get divided as to what you think the Holy Spirit tells you, including sin related issues. If your conscience is ill-formed for example, you will treat something that is a sin as not one. You may even strongly believe that it's all right to do that thing. The most glaring example right now is LGBT stuff - many Protestant churches embraced it. And yes, there are examples of this corruption inside of the Catholic Church - but the TEACHING on it has not and WILL not change, becuse Jesus promised us that. Another one - in the 19th century, ALL christian faiths, so that includes all Protestants believed divorce to be a sin - same as contraception. You can verify this historically, when it comes to data - only the Catholic Church still claims both of these things to be sinful. Instead of thinking automatically, that therefore we must be wrong, you might ask yourself - regarding all Protestant Churches - has the Holy Spirit changed His mind about something being a sin? Is it a progressive spirit?.. You sure don't think they all lost the relationship with Jesus?... As for either conspiracies or actual crimes, sinful behaviors - look around - we are all humans... The doctrinal differences - I'm a busy homeschooling mum of five, teaching English online, so I may not be easily available, but I can answer some basic objections - however, I know exactly where to point :) - Catholic Answers, The Journey Home, where lots of ex-Protestants went through an intelectual journey, and they talked a lot about doctrines, dogmas and how hard it was to face in some cases. And I love all conversion stories (including atheist to just Christian - no specific denomination), so I listened to hundreds of those. And I was never a Protestant, as it is rare in my counry. I converted from decades of atheism to Catholicism. But the depths of my ignorance were such I studied for a long time to learn my faith - and that includes above all, what is a sin, what is not and all things spiritual, like spiritual battles, virtues, nature of Graces, all that. But I'm not a theologian or apologete - I refer to Trent HOrn, Jimmie Akin, Tim Staples (his conversion story is one of my all time favorite, and of course Scott Hahn). Last, but not least, when was the last time you read John 6 and pondered why only the Catholic and Orthodox Churches are biblical in that respect? The Protestant denominations (all) are like the disciples that left Jesus after they heard the "hard teaching" on the Eucharist. And it's Jesus who says the words about the Bread of Life - and the earlies existing writing of the Church Fathers confirm the literal understanding (so the Apostle Paul in his letters, about "eating your death"). So if you just start there, just asking Jesus about it in prayer, with an open heart and mind - and after reading the Bible, of course, John 6 - that's a great start. I don't know how your journey will end. I believe Jesus wanted me to write something, because nowadays I'm repulsed by any types of online interactions... So I hope it helped - you or somebody someday. God bless you always! Anna

@gideondavid30 David, It's evident your understanding of religion is based on someone's negative view; in other words It's badly informed. ▪︎MATHEW 7, 21-24 21. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who Does the Will of my Father who is in heaven. Jesus proceeds to build His one and only Church on a man whose original name signified "reed", Simon. ▪︎MATTHEW 16:18-19 18. And I tell You, You are Peter, and on this Rock I will build my Church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. . 19. I will Give You the Keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you Bind on earth shall be Bound in Heaven, and whatever you Loose on earth shall be Loosed in Heaven.” Notice! My Church = One Church The powers of death shall not destroy our Lord's one Church. Jesus gives Full Authority to His one Church: ▪︎MATTHEW 18:17 17. If he refuses to listen to them, tell The Church. If he refuses to listen even to the Church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. 18. Amen, I say to you, Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Note: It is a known fact the doctrine of "Sola Scriptura", invented in the XVI Century by Martin Luther is the cause of thousands of divisions in the Protestant world today. Jesus, being God, wants UNITY, thus He says the following with clear and unambiguous words: ▪︎JOHN 17:20-23 20. “I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, 21. that They May All Be One; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22. The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that They May Be One even as We Are One, 23. I in them and thou in me, that they may Become Perfectly ONE, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me. It is evident Protestant "denominations" are not God's plan for humanity. St. Paul repeats God's plan. ▪︎1 Corinthians 10:16-17 16. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17. Because there is One Bread, we who are many are One Body, for we all partake of the One Bread. "One Body"? Yes! That means One Church! May God bless your discernment.

@@shelion77 1. The Word of God is alive. That's how we know what sin is. Don't need a magisterium to convince me. The job of the church is to teach the Word of God. The Holy Spirit convicts. I grew up in a pentecostal church. I believed once saved always saved. After significant spiritual and mental battles and supernatural experiences along with ny biblical knowledge I changed my mind. Hell us very real and an unrepentant life will take me there regardless of my believe in God. 2. HARD teachings is not what drives Mr away from Catholicism. The extra biblical doctrines do. The Marian Dogmas and Rome's fascination with Mary is the most perverse thing I have seen under a church that calls itself Christian. You say LGBT hasn't took over Rome yet but OPope Francis is already conditioning Catholics for it. Remember,, the Marian Dogmas are only 200 years old and they did not exist in the early church. If Rome can be corrupted by whatseems to he pagan influence *(female deity), than there is nothing stopping LGBT either. 2. The Catholic Church has reversed itself on capital punishment and how it treats Protestants. There was a time where Rome condemned all non Catholics to hell regardless if they are Christian. ROME does shift its position. I hope for your sake Rome doesn't dip onto further heresy I hope your faith is not shaken in God when it does. 3. The criticism of the diversity of thought in Protestantism doesn't imply that Roman Catholicism is true by default.

They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger. 19But am I the one they are provoking? declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame? 📜 1Corinthians.10:11These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. 12So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted d beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 14Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

It’s interesting: when people go from Protestant to Catholic it’s bc they read a lot of the Bible and decided to do it. Catholics usually go to Protestantism bc they feel “there’s not enough scripture involved”. But of course if you’re a practicing Catholic you would know that’s not true.

As a Protestant, I was raised with the notion that a Catholic can't question anything the the Pope, a bishop, or a priest says from the pulpit. To question a cleric, let alone disagree with a cleric, is disagreeing with God. On the other hand, to completely agree with every thing from a Protestant bishop or minister is a little out of the ordinary. Of course, I don't accept the Catholic notion that only men can serve as clergy. There are scholars of Christian history who believe Mary Magdalene spread the good news about Jesus in Jewish communities in what is now France, along the Mediterranean. My pastor is a woman, and she's terrific. She retires this summer, and her replacement is another woman.
