Honda best car ever? Honda is not a car. All brands have good and bad cars. Per example, the NSX is respectable por 99% os the people, and is a Honda, like S2000 or Integras R.

Exactly. Who cares what the guy at the red light thinks. Dont drive like a douche nozzle, enjoy the car and do what YOU like. In society today. Everyone is so concerned what everyone else thinks about them or their material possessions. They are usually fun cars to drive, reliable, quick and cheap to maintain. That guy driving the BMW, Merc, etc doesn't "look" very cool when he gets a $2500 quote for brakes and tires on his stock 19s. Do what makes YOU happy. People need to go back to a time before instagram, snapchat, etc. Find what you like/enjoy and just do it.

I think most people that hate hondas are mostly from the U.S, mainly because hondas is a really die hard Japanese brand that only offers their top spec and great cars in Asia only, like Dc5 type r's, fd2 type R's, Mugen RR's, Jdm Dc2/db8r, accord euro r's, etc... i fortunately grew up in Hong Kong where we all get the cool models like the type R's there...the U.S did not get any real Honda made type r until 2017, they missed out a lot a lot...
@GTContent
@GTContent 7 лет назад
Good to see a perspective outside of the USA. A correction though we did get the Integra Type R in 97-98 & 2000-2001. This will be the first time we get a Civic Type R in the USA though.
@alex11055
@alex11055 7 лет назад
GT Content I know what you mean by Integra type r, you were talking about the Acura Dc2 type r, in accurate that's a Acura type r, that's why I was saying a real Honda made type r that's badged as Honda, USA didn't get any Honda type r's until 2017

There is a lot, a lot of hate for Hondas. until you own, drive and possibly mod one, you wont understand what a Honda enthusiast love about their car. They are very fun cars to drive even if the car is in stock configuration. Most civics are lightweight, have very nimble handling, love to rev high, and feels like driving a go kart. Plus finding good decent parts for arent that hard either. as far as making power it relativley inexpensive to do as well. One could turn 130hp $2400 civic or integra into a 500hp monster for something like $5000. You could spend $45k on Camaro if you have the funds but many of us and young people alike dont. But lets not also forget that Honda is also an innovator. Honda, widely known for Vtec was the first company introduce Variable Valve Timing. Then many other companies followed suit from Nissan to Toyota to BMW and whoever else. Also Honda was the first company to introduce Active Torque Transfer that enable front wheel drive cars to handle like rear drive cars by redistributing power to the outside wheels while in a turn. Then at one point Honda had the highest Hp/liter with the F20C engine found in the AP1 S2000s. It made 247HP NA from a 2.0 4cyl engine. you cant tell me that is not impressive.
@GTContent
@GTContent 7 лет назад
I agree with some of your points and am not here to argue with you as I am a Honda owner myself, but some of the statements you've mentioned are incorrect. Just an FYI: 1)Comparing a used car (~$3k+ civic/Integra to a new car $40k+ Camaro) is not a good comparison as there are used 300HP LS1 camaros out there for ~$4k+. The new 310HP Honda Civic Type R has a $34,000 MSRP and is selling for above that (HypeR Tax) and the 455HP Camaro SS is around $38,000 MSRP. Not much of a difference from what I see, but we are talking about different cars for different purposes. We know that most people will be using the Honda Civic Type R mostly on the street and drag strip even though it's aimed as a track car. Don't get me wrong, the CTR is the ultimate FWD track car. 2)The aftermarket for a domestic V8 is huge. There's no way to compare the amount of cheap or expensive options for them. Need I say again....there are TONS of options. A Honda to me has a "cheap" aftermarket for Japanese import cars. 2) Variable Valve Timing was first patented and used by FIAT in the late 1960's followed by GM in the 1970's. Honda popularized it though with the introduction of the VTEC engines (NSX 1st) in the late 90's and onwards. 3) ATTS was developed to neutralize understeer which is a characteristic of FWD cars. It was mainly found in the "Type SH" cars in the USA. I don't believe it was ever found on Civics/Integras/RSXs for that matter so it was rather "rare". I believe the new NSX uses it with it's AWD system. 4) The horsepower per liter displacement is never ending. It's like muscle car guys bragging about how big there engine is. My personal opinion, show me what it can do. Nowadays, even Honda knows that you'll have to go forced induction to comply with emission standards and make the power to compete in the current car market. FYI also, the VTEC in the new turbo motors is not like the VTEC of previous naturally aspirated offerings.
@roguestarr6797

GT Content Thank you for the info. i had to go back and check to update myself as well. Im not aware of the Vtec system used in the new Civic Type R, that particular Civic sparks no kind of interest in me. My comparison of a $2k used honda with $5000 in upgrades to a brand new Camaro (costs depending on what lot you buy it from) is meant as an example for those who think a lightweight CRX isnt a "real" car and that in order to have that kind of power under the hood you have to go drop that kind of money. And there is an older generation of HotRoders who feel like Honda cant compete with their American Muscle. When Honda first used Vtec is neglegible. Ive read it was used in the B16A first, F1 Racing, and the NSX. The facts that remain are: people do think Hondas are crappy especially the older models because cheap parts and cheap tuning have given the import scene a bad rep as you have stated. I had an '88 CRX that was nicely modded that i bought from a friend who spent over $10K in parts and labor. A guy told said to me once, "It looks good for shitty car" lol. I say that to say this too, Honda are some of the most sought out and stolen cars because of their popularity with Import and Racing scene. That same good looking shitty car was stolen in '08 and hasnt been recovered yet. As far as avaiblity of the SH model cars i dont know, but it did see its first use on the the 5th Gen Preludes. Japan had more options to chose from but the US on recieved the Base model in stick or automatic and SH available only in manual.

Great video. For years I was a Honda lover, owning a couple of CRX Si in the 90s and two AP1 S2000 later on. They were great cars and I met a lot of great people because of those cars. I still like Honda, but now it's only my wife's Odyssey. I got bored with Hondas lack of decent offerings after the S2000 and even with it being a blast, the lack of torque low in the range made it not as fun unless really wailing on it. Of course then it was REALLY fun, but not so much for around town driving. For my car fix now, I moved to the Subaru WRX. Easy to tune, AWD for the snow, great sound and loads of torque to make even a trip to the store fun. But, I really do hope the new Type R offering will bring some life back to Honda.

I think it comes down to whether you are a car enthusiast or not. You can have a Honda civic and brag that it's the best car ever made and not accept anything else (not being a real enthusiast) or you can have a Honda civic keep your loyalty and accept every car out there for what they are. On the opposite side, you can be hating on Hondas because of their known hatred or you could respect the owner and what he's done to it like a car enthusiast, unless it's hideous AF like mentioned above ;)

But I also believe the last "muscle car" was the 82-88 Camaro after that factories got their parts made in Mexico and began outsourcing heavily and cars only became "assembled" in America! And before anyone knocks me for my opinion the first car I ever wrenched on was a 74 nova bored built and blown

excellent video. You always offer insightful content. I still love Honda. Its hard to blame them for not catering to the enthusiast crowd. Even in your video you state that in the 90's, the people buying them were buying cheap, used vehicles. That doesn't really benefit the manufacturer. They are always going to cater to the people actually purchasing their new cars. Also, if you study economics or demographics at all, younger people, the 25-40 demographic that used to be where businesses targeted, no longer have buying power. That demographic is riddled in debt. The demographic with buying power is much older, probably in their 50's. So, I don't think Honda lost their way, they are still selling plenty of automobiles. And if you've owned one recently, they are as reliable as ever.

Is this still true? I lived in a Hispanic ghetto (I am Hispanic) in MA where street racing and Hondas/Integras were a daily way of life. Literally you couldn't turn your head or go longer than 2 minutes without hearing an exhaust. I literally tested it one day =D. I personally had a completely stock 94' accord, minus an exhaust, paint job, black housing lights, with subs. I had a club and touch alarm. The last summer I owned it in 09' they tried to steal it at least 6 times in under 4 months. Now I live in NC and it being southern I rarely see a "ricer", a lot more domestic vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros etc being there more African American and White people. Also, taking into consideration that "hooking" up cars doesn't seem to be a thing so much anymore from what I can tell. Research shows more and more young people are forgoing even getting a license, and usually its the younger people who like stealing cars. I ask all this because I just bought myself my favorite car that I loved in high school, a 5th gen Prelude and am debating putting a touch alarm on it. TLDR: They people still steal Hondas, and more so in south where domestics are more popular?

I will someday make the move to purchase a GT-R depending on how the market is in a few years but the CR-X is always on my mind. There’s on for sale down my street and I think I want to dedicate it as a track toy! I like to think as an enthusiast, take cars for what they are and not hype them up as what they aren’t. Wow, this guy nailed it. Mainly because, like me, he is older and was in the car scene in the mid 90's and he has seen it all. The JDM trend at that time was super loud exhausts, body kits and coloured wheels which was very different and shocking in North America. The other thing he got right was how it has died down today, but you wouldn't know that on the internet. They hate "Ricers" like it's 1999... I see like 3 Ricers a year now, so lets move on.

You broke it down nicely. Funny we both own a Acura TSX, I did tuned it though (slight). I remember owning a 94 Accord fully build (was 19). Funny that fast and furious came out and totally killed the scene but people were talking that the movie is what blew up the scene but it actually killed it and the scene was there before the movie. I do hate the fart cans but do like a proper tuned muffler lol Keep up the videos, stay safe.

Being a Honda enthusiast, I love both old and new Hondas. They're awesome budget track cars that combine awesome driving potential, simple engineering, and extreme reliability into one. They're incredibly easy to work on and incredibly fun to drive. I completely agree with almost all of your points; unfortunately the Honda community is filled with idiots with IQ's in the single digits. This was a great video, I'm just hoping more people will bash the idiotic community and not the brand itself.

I bought my 92 Si back in 97 and it only had 80.000 mile on it,I paid almost 1300 for it back then and I always wanted a hatchback,cause I was into the JDM scene where it was simple,clean and was easy to work on,but I got tired of the SOHC and swapped it for a B16A SiR motor which is a great tuner motor and also changed my exaust so it would sound deep and not like a fart can,I still have my EG and going 22yrs and 5 month"s I keep it tuned up and still running good.

So true. I owned a 95 civic coupe ex sohc vtec I bought after I came back from Japan in 2001. Was a cheap to own maintenance and upgrades. Loved that car, fun to drive at the limit with tein suspension I put in it. Yah still brings nostalgia and I do like Hondas for their reliability as family cars. Today I drive a 17 wrx sti, and I must admit the announcement of the new civic type r brought back memories, but I'll keep my STI.

Its like any brand of car. There are clean ones and junk ones. Personally grew up with EG/EKs with B series swaps. They weren't super fast...but they were a blast to drive. Cruise around and blast down some backroads. Now I have a '13 SI Coupe with Navi. I love it. Throw a intake on it, short shifter kit and just drive it for what it is. Its "sporty", manual (which Honda seems the only ones to stick to on their "sport" models), reliable as hell, comfortable to drive and quick if you want to go on a more spirited drive. I know its not a race car for the street. I know its not "fast" by comparison. But I know them like the back of my hand and feel comfortable knowing basic maintenance and general care of it can last hundreds of thousands of miles. Its a great daily driver for sure. Will ALWAYS be some people who try to convince themselves its a race car for the street - that it can beat anything that comes along. Dont be that guy. Enjoy the car. Dont care what other people say/think. If you like it, thats all that matters.

All of your points made were almost exactly the road I traveled. I love Honda, i still do, matter of fact i still have my first one. A F&F looking (all kitted out with blue and white interior lol) 1990 accord with an h22 turbo swap. My parents bought it new in 1990. When I turned 16 in 1999 they gave it to me. Well I didn't have much money at 16 and unfortunately (maybe fortunately) eBay wasn't really a thing back then so it was everything on the cheap. Take it to the muffler shop and put straight pipe on it and other cheap mods. The great thing about only having around 90-100 whp is every bolt on you can REALLY feel the difference. Gaining 20whp from I/h/E was the difference between me slowly getting pulled by my buddies escort zx2 and me slowly pulling him. Down side it sounded like hot garbage. But the more people complained about it the more I actually loved it. Everyone told me an accord would never be fast. So I swapped it, and when that wasn't enough I turbocharged it. By the time it was said and done I had 25 grand into a 2500$ car. Expensive lesson but I guess the money isn't really gone since I still have the car. Fast forward almost 20 years and when it comes to performance I don't really care for hondas any more. As a daily? Sure, i still love them I even bought my wife a 2015 accord. But as performance goes I've moved on. Unless you are talking about an NSX or S2000, I just don't feel like they are good platform to start with. Sure they can be a lot of fun for cheap and those people that recognize and understand that "hey it's just something I'm having fun with". They are awesome people to be around. The d bags that put an eBay t3 turbo on a d16 and talk shit about how they are going to out run my c6 corvette are really annoying, they are always the ones that claim my corvette isn't stock because they beat C6s all the time. Also yes they can be made fast with with enough money but so can anything. Hell Nissan put a GTR drivetrain in a juke! That thing is bad ass but it doesn't mean every juke on the road is. For those that say you can have a fast cheap Honda I tell them something a wise old man told me. Your car can be fast, cheap, or reliable. But once you pick two of those the third no longer applies.
@GTContent
@GTContent 7 лет назад
Totally agree. I see it as an expensive lesson and not physically harmful lesson. The best part was the knowledge gained. I'm in the same boat. Getting there in the age and I'd rather enjoy the drive than wrenching. Especially with the amount of options that you have right now compared to the 90's. Good to hear your story.
@ericwilliamson263
@ericwilliamson263 7 лет назад
holy shit someone sensible! i love my integra, but its not a ''fast'' street car. it is a very good track car though, with the stock b series in there (almost everything else done) im still able to pass some evos, stis, camaros etc. here at Brainerd (higher speed course). im sure with a k swap or a turbo that vettes and porsches would be no problem either. its an excellent car to improve your driving with compared to something like a vette or porsche that has a very high skill ceiling. most guys dont care about that though, they just want to do highway pulls and look at dyno sheets. hondas were never meant to be drag raced but you really can have a fast cheap reliable honda if youre speaking relatively. a c6 vette runs mid 12s through the 1/4. for the cost of that vette you could definitely build a faster honda that still maintains reliability. that said id still rather have the vette!

Great video you got a new subscriber! I really just wish that Honda would make simple, lightweight, easy to work on cars again that are fun to drive. my favorite generation was the fourth generation civic because they barely weighed more than a crx, I don't think any had power steering, and they were the birth of the vtec Civic. you could argue easily the fit gen was the best because of OBD1 and the integra engine bay but all generations of Honda Civic still gave us good Civics, just some more memorable than others. shout-out to the DOHC ZC third generation for even giving us the B16A1 in the first place!

I'm here in Japan, and split my time about evenly between the Aichi and Mie prefectures. Mie, as the diehards know, is the home of Honda (and Aichi is home to Toyota City). I was pretty surprised to find that Honda has a bad rap here, too, but it has essentially nothing to do with the car maker - it's all about a disproportionately large segment of low-rent owners, and a reputation they got back in the '90s and early '00s for delinquency. For some reason, I thought that was mostly a Western thing.
@TxMx214

The civic specifically is not hated because it’s a Japanese car, it’s because of people riding them out. The high pitched exhaust note and always wanting to race you at the light is what gave Honda it’s reputation. I’m a big Ford/Honda/Acura guy and all three the Mustang, civic and integra have a real bad reputation and I love all three.

It's because people will soup up their Civic with a fat wing, nice rims, loud exhaust, and yet they still struggle getting to 60 in an onramp to the highway Whatever time a Civic owner says he can run in a quarter mile, add 10 seconds to it and you'll get a more accurate time. Every once in a while someone will make a Honda civic stupid fast, with an engine swap, and fat boosty bois, but to be honest it's still my least favorite chassis I wouldn't mind an NSX tho

Honda Civic 4 door in 1985 was popular for people who drive to work everyday and errands, it saved their daily budget. Tv news said, more people buy Honda than GM, so GM owners and workers had their children use batball to smash Hondas in 1990s. That’s what I remembered and included my 1978 accord and I still missed it.
