I know it's not the topic of this video, but no-knock warrants should be illegal everywhere. Bad guys can yell "Police! Search warrant!" as they kick your door in. Just because you hear that, it doesn't mean you should drop your gun. No-knocks put everyone in a bad situation. Also Ring cameras are not 100%. Mine got knocked offline for a month before I even noticed. They also dont work if the power goes out. I think that's how mine went offline in the first place.

It made sense when raiding active drug houses since that only gave them time to grab their guns. But like most government expansions the police took a mile from the inch they were given. It may cost lives but not theirs who who cares.

There’s a reason for raids, it’s because there are bad guys in the house with guns and drugs, you require the police to wait at the door and knock and announce the bad guys will destroy evidence and get into a defensive position of advantage where if the cops come through the door they get shot Raids allow you to have the element of surprise and violence of action to arrest people without getting into a gun fight and preserving evidence

@@oldcop18 Well, first, get out of your feelings. Second, if you respond to a call at some zero dark hour, bang on a door or walk around a property and then are shocked that the homeowner may be armed whereby your only response is to shoot through the door/window - I would consider that poor training and being a little trigger happy.

No knock warrants or immediate forced entry should be illegal in all but a very few cases such as a hostage rescue. To breach someone home unannounced and then kill them because they tried to protect themselves is just wrong and no civilized society should allow that to happen.

@Robot404_
@Robot404_ Год назад
It is possible to have a server setup physically in your home to host the videos and that you can access with an app without having to trust big tech to store the data of your front porch, however it does require significant technical know how and more money. Other options that are more accessible will record but store on an SD card. However that cannot be accessed immediately on your phone. Cops need a warrant if the data is in your home on your server. However, all they need is the company's permission to view your doorbell cam footage if it is stored in the cloud. You should also take into account the fact that your porch is in the public view and you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy there. If your neighbor across the street has a doorbell camera facing your house, the privacy benefits of not having a doorbell camera yourself is already non-existent. Additionally, you can take some measures to mitigate privacy concerns by having your camera face in a way that it only records a narrow section outside your door so you can see who is there. Finally, in terms of safety of an occupied house, a peephole can let you see out without having a camera. A peephole combined with a doorbell cam that records onto an SD card can get you most of the security without losing any privacy.

The only thing I think left unclear here was, where it is a consensual encounter, that consent can be conditional and revised or revoked at any time. As example: Outsider: knocking "Open the door." Person within domicile: "No, thank you. I would rather discuss this through the door." O: "I can't hear you well enough, open the door so that we can talk." P: "Your hearing is not my concern, "No." is a complete sentence. Leave now." The stating of intent and executing action of calling dispatch to confirm identity should be a no-brainer (on either side of the door) when a knock-and-talk is purported.
@95dodgev10

Another thing to add on the front door camera concept. Most of them you can talk through the camera whether its the door bell cameras or a standard camera. The cameras i have i can also sound an alarm.

If you just give it to someone else with no money exchanging hands they can't do squat about that (unless it was the case that the friend was a prohibited person and they can prove you knew the friend was a prohibited person).

My answer the door gun is staged with a holster. Despite what people think, there are real-life situations I've been in between "call the cops with the door closed" and "answer unarmed". A holster allows me the flexibility to respond however I need, while making sure my gun can be secured and accessible as needed. I burned a relationship with the new neighbors over "just hide it behind your back" when they went for a handshake. I couldn't sit it on the floor because I had toddlers at the time. A holster solves all of that.

I"ve been knocking on doors in the middle of the night for over 34 years. Never had a problem. Police radio is turned up so occupants hear police chatter, my flashlight is scanning all windows, so occupants see the light. I don't knock and say police because they are most likely in their bedroom and won't hear me. A few loud knocks, listening for movement in the house, lighting up the windows. When I hear them approach the door, then I announce police.

Is it actually illegal to transfer a personally manufactured firearm? I had always thought so, but I thought I remembered someone pointing out that you just can't make a gun with the intent to transfer or sell it (since that requires an FFL), but, if you legitimately make it for yourself and later transfer or sell it, that's ok.

The way it'll go down is you just started to make firearms and you just sold it. Never mind that it was made back in the 1970s, they'll say it was made last week. I know people that have a not-glock glock. They have talked to the police and right now they're ok with it. They agree the way it was made is legal. 20 years from now - who knows.

What you said is what I've heard. You can't intend to make it and then sell it but if you have it for a while and decide to sell it that's fine. It all depends on the political climate of your area and what narrative they're going to go with. The lack of serial number is the tricky part.

Something that might be an interesting video: How do you drop your gun when challenged by police in such a way to minimize your chances of getting shot? Clearly not having your gun in hand is the best option, but there are possibilities where you have a gun in hand for a Must reason, an officer responds and you want to obey immediately when they start shouting "Drop the gun! Show me your hands!" better then this example.
@bwofficial1776

Unless it's not drop safe (which all modern guns are), drop it like it's hot. A few scratches are better than you getting shot.
@elendarulianreo

After dropping the gun, assuming your hands were at your side, the most important thing: do not bring your hands forward. Simply rotate them to display your empty palms. Also, don't make any sudden or fast movements.
@DefinitelyNotAFed4473

If we’re being honest, if it’s gotten to this point, you’re probably getting shot (probably multiple times). Most police (probably most gun owners in general) are not well trained enough to handle a situation like that without squeezing a shot or two (or an entire mag…) off from fear of being shot by you. And then they will be immune to legal recourse of any kind due to it being declared a justified shooting and having qualified immunity and then your wife and kids will end up living hard lives.

Before a person gets past the gate I know that they are coming to the house. They still have the long walk up the driveway to do. I know who is on the porch and how many people there are with plenty of time to make decisions. The pit and his 2 companions are very noisy alarms. As a pit he scares most people that they just leave the flyers on the gate. A good dog is not a defensive item, they are simply something to alert early, giving time to make assessments and that time will give me lots of options.

"at least put the gun behind your back" - or even better have the pistol behind the door already ready to go and don't open the door all the way. Most doors aren't going to stop a bullet very well and that works in both directions. Right handed and the hinges of your door are on the left? change that. put the hinges on the right side of the door.
