I remember before it was sold to Disney there was a poll on the website asking us which company should they sell it to. I remember choosing Warner Bros.
I'm rather annoyed at Disney for shutting down club penguin, I would spend hours on that game, fulfilling quests, getting new Puffles, playing minigames, and when club penguin shut down, I lost contact with friends I've had for years on there. I still love that game and it won't be forgotten that easily. I hope everyone agrees with my comment and can relate. -Waddle on my friends...
even I didn't get to play club penguin but i still play some fan made recreations of it and when i play them i feel your pain a really good game goes away waddle on also i am crying right now:(
ONLY REALL CLUB PENGUIN FANS WILL UNDERSTAND.. i remember i always tried to beat the sensei in the dojo, when i wasn’t a black belt. I tried and tried and overthought every move. I. Never. Won. (*only looking at this comment as of 7th april - thanks so much guys this is crazy!! Lol*)
This game had only been a name I once heard, I just happened upon a video of "the final moments of club penguin" with sad music and all I was heartbroken, now that I ve seen this video it got even sadder, disney basically milked this game while it was growing, wtf were they thinking
@@aqua3234 EA had redeemable qualities, they redeemed mostly BF2, made Jedi Fallen Order, I know everyone's bitching about them but HONESTLY some of my favourite games were published by them, Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age Trilogy Dead Space, Sims 2, Kingdom Of Amalur Reckoning... Those might be when they still have a shit about fans, but when these guys want to make/publish a good game, they do exactly that!
@@severussnape5978 exactly, man star wars and club penguin were a big part of my childhood, but disney had to close club penguin and ruin the skywalker saga, I won't give anything to disney, I want to be a game developer once I grow up, I don't know about you but if I become a game developer that is my dream, I think that it's good idea to don't give anything to disney.
I was always the poor non premium, but I passed some amazing times during my childhood on this game. But tbh I think it would have happened anyways. Disney was too greedy and tried to do much and forgot the essentials and that's an absolute shame. Why all these stupid toys and budget breakers? Just why? And the answer is "More money"... what a sad ending for one, if not the most important, game in my childhood.
I really miss it, It was a special game. The events were so cool. I was literally a hardcore player (and I was like 10 lol), I used to go to online chats to find the penguin celebrities and it was so much fun. Also I used to go to the dojo before It was built and to the empty iceberg
Club penguin was my entire childhood, I remember going to the dojo and fighting for hours just to become a black belt. Then one day my mom finally bought a membership for me and I bought every single puffle
Omg you got a membership? My parents never allowed me to get one. But i remember one time i got a free membership offer for like two months and i bought so many clothes and stuff, but when the membership expired, i couldn't use any of the stuff :(
Just Call Me Crazy you are crazy if you think Disney cares about your dumb “childhood.” All they want is to capitalize on every single product, thing, or idea they have, all for money.
Ranbir Singh when did he ever say that Disney cared about our childhood? He literally said “since Disney was more focused on money, rather than our entertainment, we had to lose our favorite childhood game”.
Owen Fritz it’s cause he said our favorite childhood game, and that’s what Disney is. Doesn’t do anything if there’s no money involved. Like with club penguin; it was a good game and important part of a lot of people’s childhood, but the reason it shut down was because they were capitalizing every pixel of the game until they decided to make a rip off version and shut down the original game after they milked every ounce out of it. They focused too much on making money, your favorite childhood game gets shut down.
It reopened ( fan made version exactly like the real one), look it up on google just search club penguin (also everyone is a member by default so no money wall)
If I had to pin down a date for when Club Penguin started to go downhill it would have to be around 2013-2014. It was at this time that Club Penguin parties started to get boring and just became advertisements for Disney properties. These new parties no longer had the charm and originality of the older ones and it didn't help that they progressively got smaller with less games and less exclusive rooms. The last amazing party I remember in Club Penguin was the Card Jitsu Snow party and man did it blow me away! It came with an amazing story, lots of cools clothes, rebranded what it meant to be a Ninja, and it introduced an amazing new permanent game! They also started to introduce an absurd amount of puffles. Puffles before had always felt unique and special. Each had a different personality and a different charm and a new one was introduced at most only once a year. We were never overwhelmed and could get to know every new puffle personally. These cute little critters never felt like an accessory, they felt like our friends. Then they started to introduce all kinds of puffles with no personality. Ghost Puffles, Crystal Puffles, Dinosaur Puffles, Alien Puffles, Animal Puffles. They tied them to exclusive events and oversaturated the market. They made the once unique Puffle just another meaningless item. Finally, they mishandled the EPF missions in the final years of Club Penguin. The original PSA missions were undoubtably the best mini games Club Penguin had to offer. They were so thorough and exceptional that they felt like they should be purchased separately rather than be available for free. The missions told an amazing and engaging continuous story as we continued to fight Herbert! It was especially awesome how the missions interacted with the real world. I remember how the the headquarters were blown up with a popcorn bomb in the final mission and we could actual see the popcorn carnage in the real game outside the mission. The EPF was also loads of fun with exclusive events like Operation Hibernation and weekly missions that also provided a story against Pro-Bot. Even some EPF games like System Defender tied directly to these events! The height of all of this was undoubtably Operation Blackout. EPF members were going mission one by one. Herbert had taken over the newspaper and was spreading propaganda. He even had his own website called Club Herbert! It felt like a war and a spy thriller at the same time and the stakes were never higher to take down Herbert. When you finally took down Herbert it actually felt like you were the only guy, the chosen one, the special, who just saved the world. Officially it might only have been a party, but to those who experienced it, it was anything but. The atmosphere and engagement levels were just too awesome for this to be a mere party. The effort clearly paid off because this it was during this Operation that the most Penguins ever logged on simultaneously. Sadly the EPF events took a dip in quality after this. They became short and uneventful, with maybe completing a single task and then the mission was complete. They were so much less engaging and lost that secret agent feel. You no longer felt like a secret agent when you competed these later missions, it felt like anyone could do it. Operations Puffle was okay, but it's clear no one really cared about Operations Hot Sauce, Crustacean, and Tri-umph. They were way too short and barley had you do anything. In short, these are just my thoughts on what I think did Club Penguin in. They had something special and amazing that they squandered in the end. The interactivity, limited events, and communication components of Club Penguin actually reminds me a lot of Fortnite. I think a lot of what makes Fortnite popular now is what made Club Penguin popular then.
Man I wish I was able to get on one last time and record everything I had. My greatest achievement ever was having rockhopper accept my friend request. I did a pretty good photo shop to reenact it but you know it’s not the same.
@@siri5875 Still...... *WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY CLOSE DOWN THE MOST FUN AND PLAYED GAME* *DO THEY NOT REALISED THAT ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WAS HAVING FUN!?!* sorry I want to let it all out for *SOOOO* long
@@gloomysun7831 money. They don’t care about the players. And I feel bad for the devs because Disney basically gave them no jobs in the video game market
Employee: Hey so Club penguin is only bringing in 1.5 million dollars instead of 4 million should we put some more resources in it start an advertising campaign? Disney: No Delet this
11:30 I was there. Makes me cry, I don't know why. I remember saying goodbye to so many strangers I didn't know, and they all said goodbye to me too. Truly, Club Penguin was my childhood.
I remember discovering club penguin on miniclip.com and being so obsessed with it I had to get my cousins onto it too. I was so jealous of my friends having memberships and somehow convinced my dad for a year membership. I didn’t get to go online to say goodbye on the last day. Forgot my password 😭
Try club penguin online or if you want it more like the first version of it when they didn’t have that much just cool original club penguin and links will come up
I just wanna play the old CP again. At least once more in it’s prime, no memberships, no money, while they had secret missions, games, and no bs dumb themes.
Club Penguin Rewritten is 100% free. Rewritten is like the really OLD CP, with the old puffle designs and the old rooms. There is Free Penguin which is basically CP with cheats. Useful for visiting old parties... but it bugs a lot. Plus there is no sort of censorship so its ppl calling each other names for no reason at all. Not worth it, unless you REALLY want to re-visit an old event. Well now that @Zoinx warned me, I'd advise you to NOT use CP Online. You can read his comment as to why
This made me so sad...I would FaceTime my friend, we’d get on the same server and play the games till it was time for bed. I had a membership...I (my mom) payed money so I could get all the cool features. It breaks my heart kids will never experience Club Penguin...
@@B123Y how is Club Penguin even remotely better than Fortnite? Aside the memes, a clicker is not better than an actual shooter, no matter how saturated the Battle Royale genre is.
yeah, I was about 6 when I played it, I forgot what I did, ( it has been 4 years, and I had really bad memory as a 6 year old ) but all I know is that it was one of the best games I ever played 😖
I use to play nonstop hours of the Card Jitsu game, I had the membership and everything. Disney put money over mind, and that still remains their biggest mistake in the company. Edit: Woah, this blew up... erm... thanks for the likes.
DUDE I WAS SO GOOD AT CARD JITSU!! THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME OF THAT GAME!! i loved CP so much, and i had a VIP membership too. i spent so much of my childhood playing it omg
I attempted club penguin island, it was awful, it makes you pay for everything I miss old club penguin, of course there is club penguin rewritten which I play sometimes but it will never be the same.
cpr shut down, but theres a new club penguin again! this time its even closer than the classic! Its called, "Club Penguin Online". :) edit: WAIT IT DIDNT SHUT DOWN IM SO SORRY I THOUGHT IT DID!
I stopped playing because of the ridiculous amount of money that you had to spend on memberships and other objects to actually enjoy the game. It'd be nice if Club penguin came back without having to pay, for even just a day.
@@mia-jx2dg No, murder means you went out to go and kill that person while kill can be used for many things, one of those things may be manslaughter which is the killing of someone by something like self defence
it would have been avoidable man. it was so popular it became a meme and disney didn't know what love was. Playing a game all your childhood and then it sudenly shut's down for a newer version is sad and not easy to transfer to. The last moments of club penguin was great my little sister played it like hell and when she saw so many players online at once she even teered up. The connexion error came to her screen and she bought my mums computer to me to fix it. When i googled a fix. I toled her it was shuting down and she cried for 30 min. I tried to make her play the new version but she said she would not abandon the old one and that if it reopenned later she would play whatsoever. THANKS FOR READING. like so that disney can see and open club penguin back up for my sister.

dude just watching this made my heart hurt with nostalgia. I spend literally everyday on this game. I was addicted. It was such a huge part of my life. I was soooo upset when they shut it down
I remember being on my grandpas computer for hours playing CP. I remember there being a cruise ship on the side of the island I think near the iceberg it might’ve been on the other side. I remember when it left. The next year, someone hacked my account and spent all my coins. And my puffles health were not high. I had 17 puffles. I had to watch them all die out. RIP CP
Club penguin was like my ENTIRE childhood, without this game, I wouldn't be who I am and have have this personality, whenever I was down, club penguin cheered me up, although the I was frustrated for not having a membership, I was still enjoying the game and having fun, I remember them having a poll on which company they should sell it to, and I chose Disney, ever since it shut down, I almost didn't eat, drink or speak for a week, I was really depressed that they shut it down, I really wanted to figure it out what happened, so I dug deep down into the internet, the history of club penguin and more, until I found this video
Me too! I thought at first there was just a problem, maybe they were patching up some stuff? But then in the following days it kept the same way. Gone. Quite sad, it had potential.
Dr.A I was at school i.t club Played it ...SHUT DOWN!!!! I literally finished the snow card jutsu (which finished my fire, water and normal gem!!!! ) I finished killing tusk and five mins later club penguin stopped working
there is a game called club penguin rewritten which is an older version of the game, and club penguin online which is an up to date version of club penguin. in both you get a free membership
Gone Forever did you even understand my comment? I said that they still could have replicated the exact game on something else than flash so its not flashes fault for it being shut down. Disney is a big company and coulda made that happen...
Yeah, pretty much. When I first saw meepcity, I looked at the meeps and tried to say,”are the meeps a rip-off of puffles?” But of course, it was censored. I think they just copied the puffle part.
micheal skyburst nah i wish it kept it because we got amazing events and stuff but i wish that they kept it but promoted their club penguin island as a result instead of closing it
Club Penguin was my childhood. I remember attending to parties and waddling around the island without even knowing what I was doing...I just saw the marketing and I knew I had to play it. Years passed, and I still play it through Rewritten. I think CPR is better than the original, because they bring back the cool original parties, and not the promotional ones. Best part is that EVERYONE can be a member without having to pay anything (It gets boring though...) Edit: 111 likes? Wow, I never got that many before. Thanks lol
It was my childhood as well. And also, when I first discovered that it was shutting down, I was sobbing so hard that it was hard to breathe. And I cried like that for a while
*40 years from now at age 64* Grandson: Grandpa what is this? I found this old screenshot of an old looking game in one of your computer files? *Shows an old Club Penguin screenshot to me* Me: *lights up a smoke* Sit down here on the couch with me kiddo *tears start to fall* I'm going to tell you a great story...
I always told my dad If he could buy the membership for me...but he never did....in the end, my friends that almost all were members gave me their passwords, cuz I was so into it I used to play in their accounts and get coins for them.....
RIP Siul19 the day i created that penguin was the day i learnt about online gaming, i loved that penguin so much that i still use that nickname in modern mmo or online games RIP all the penguins that we created, press F to pay respects
