"Why do Ulcerative Colitis Sufferers Struggle to Gain Weight?" | Let's Chat Crohn's & Colitis #29
In this video I discuss some big reasons why Inflammatory bowel disease sufferers (Crohn's disease and Ulcerative colitis) struggle to gain weight. I include some of the physiological reactions occurring in their body that would lead to weight loss.

Thanks for watching Aaron, while the term stress is vague, it's absolutely the number one causative factor in the problems we experience. toxicities and deficiencies that exist in the body are most likely the biggest stressors as to why our bodies struggle to cope at time

I thought I was fit and healthy but damn life sure does throw some curves your way. I was just diagnosed with crohns. My weight went from a strong muscular 157lbs to 140lbs in just a month 😔

It also happens with ibs type c, I always thought it was because our diets are always sooooo clean that we are simply not eat enough calories but what you said makes sense.

Yours hasn’t improved via elimination diet? Or have you not tried it? Strict carnivore helped me leaps and bounds with all sumptoms

@@evanh.6462 Pretty much eliminated every thing in diet. Brain fog memory loss fatigue is difficult to study or work . Have not tried carnivore diet might be difficult as appetite is gone barely can eat smoothies have trouble swallowing foods . Did carnivore diet help your fatigue or brain fog if you had it

@@sidhussain915 I was in the exact same boat and yes, carnivore helped me tremendously in all facets. Only stipulation was that I found my gut didn't tolerate almost any other meat beyond beef lol. I exclusively ate grassfed beef, homemade grassfed ghee (extremely easy to make), small amounts of homemade raw goat kefir, grassfed beef organs (liver/heart), a multivitamin, magnesium supp, fish oil supp. That was it for awhile. The trick to consuming to the point of sustainability on a diet like this is very high fat. Each bite of beef was accompanied with an equal sized bite of ghee. Sounds disgusting but you get used to it. When you take them in the same bite, it's quite good. But trust me, I could barely palate anything. Everything hurt my stomach, I had all the symptoms in the book including severe joint pain/back pain, chronic inflammation, etc. Your palate will quickly change to craving beef because of how good you feel. Another trick to craving beef is buying quality grassfed. I exclusively purchase ground beef and typically buy from local farmers on eatwild.com or localharvest.org.. but whiteoakpasture's ground beef in grocery stores is high quality grassfed if you don't have another choice. It's just expensive.

@@sidhussain915 If you do try it, I highly recommend checking out "steak and butter gal" on youtube. Just make sure you turn that butter to ghee. I eat just like her actually.

Have you investigated butyric acid? Research has found its good for ibd. Found in vegetables including potatoes and oats.

Sorry, always pulling the video comments in different direction.... Again

I have heard of it Jon and have done a small amount of research on the topic. I don't think it's one of the biggest contributors to ibd that's going to make much of a difference. I think the symptoms of ibd stem more so from damage to other systems in the body and then the symptoms of the digestive system are just unfortunate by-products

I definitely think diet has a major role to play in symptoms. And a large part in inflammation. It's get the balance that and environment.
