We need to stop ascribing loyalty to any AAA, publicly traded game studio. At the end of the day they’re all businesses who don’t care about us. Sometimes they make great games, sometimes they make shit games, and the distinction between the two is all that matters. Ubisoft, as with all companies, has always been a bit shit and a bit awesome. There is no such thing as a purely good publicly traded company
i completly agree with what youre saying. the industry has been slowly dropping in quality and its sad to see gaming franchises, especially ubisofts, lose their shine.
Dont forget the time that advertizer guy at ubisoft said "gamers need to get comfortable not owning their games" which also set off some more people. Ubisoft corprate just cant find a win XD.
as many others have said before me, if buying is not owning, than piracy is not stealing. ubi is incredibly dumb if they think gamers wont just turn to piracy like they did with netflix
Yup, Ubisoft, just like other big video game companies have seen a drop in quality. But Ubisoft specifically suffers from an acute case of "Please make your PR people check what the executives say before they say it". Ubisoft just keeps shooting themselves in the foot with absolutely stupid ideas born out of greed and out of touch communication.
@@omorinintendoswitchedition I'm also personally a fan of "I'll definitely get comfortable not owning Ubisoft games" I haven't even bothered to buy anything Ubisoft recently.
Honestly, right now my biggest problem is that the devs and the executives are speaking two different languages. The devs say “We wanna rework recruit! We wanna add 100 operators! We want this game going for 10 more years!” The executives scream “Sell recolours for money. Make no new content for Y9S2. Do not communicate with our audience. Do not target core issues of cheating and bugs.” I don’t want to support a game where its own mother and father are battling each other behind it’s back while telling it that “We still love each other.” As fucking if. I’m not trusting a company that doesn’t even trust its own dev team
Bizarre how most tech/game companies like Google and Ubisoft were so praised and respected 10-15 years ago. Nowdays we see them as just soulless corporations.
I think something Ubisoft should do, is give each of their studios a different name that’s not just Ubisoft or Ubisoft “geographic location”. People on average dont like them, when they see the Ubisoft logo, they think mediocre, or bad games/bad monetization. I think average people probably don’t realize that the Ubisoft behind Tom Clancy is a different team behind Assassin creed. I think someone might see a trailer they think is cool, but then see the Ubisoft logo and be disappointed. That’s already hurting the game and the dev team. One of my favorite games is Anno 1800, developed by Ubisoft, I tried to show my friend to it and he saw the Ubisoft logo and was already not interested since Ubisoft was attached to it since other Ubisoft games he has played left him feeling mediocre about their games. He played and he really liked it. Bottom line is I think Ubisoft needs to rebrand and feel less corporate. Games are supposed to be fun, but they feel like a business.
Nice to hear you voice ur opinion on something without the fear of siege players being siege players, as a person whose favorite game has been siege since like 2016. (Admittedly on console) 🕊️RIP white masks 🫡🫡🫡 🕊️
Ubisoft has TERRIBLE monetization practices, but as an apex legends fiend I can say it’s not nearly as bad as EA and Respawn. Not great, but the lesser of 2 evils
This is the same company that swore up and down they were making AAAA games, then have the nerve to release games like Skull & Bones, a game with awful and nonexistent mechanics that were better implemented in games like Black Flag and Sly 3, I'm not even exaggerating, Sly 3 is nearly 20 years old and it still knew how to show proper ship boarding.
Ubisoft backed themselves into a corner that they can't win. Pre-2015 their singleplayer games were too adult for kids and teenagers to appreciate it. You can see from the number of video essays going over Watch_Dogs 1 and older Assassin's Creed games saying how under appropriated they are. They were meant to be played by people of our current age and not when we were actually playing them. But after the live-service/Esports boom Ubi never looked back since. A lot of the charms in their games were sacrificed for the sake of never ending updates and microtransactions. Their new games are pretty much anything that can be pushed out the door with acceptable/mediocre art value for players to buy into and hopefully stick around for the live-service. But that also changes with XDefiant having no consistent theme at all, not that it's the point for that game tho. Ubisoft is the rich French kid who sits in the back of the classroom. And I feel like it's time we see the artsy-kinda emo version of him again, not the corporate bootlicking guy he is right now. PS. The Division 1 gameplay's giving me multiple wave hits of nostalgia. I wish The Division franchise wasn't treated as badly as it is now, from both the community and Ubisoft.

Talking about why Ubisoft are the way they are? Where's DJ Peach Cobbler when you need him (his video on Ubisoft near perfectly encapsulates my thoughts on that company).
I don't like where Ubisoft is going currently but based on history they have made some of my most favorite games. One that nobody really knows about is monster jam maximum destruction for the PlayStation 2. I played the crap out of that at 8 years old and it's a fond memory for me. So I developed a liking for Ubisoft and then when they brought out rainbow six siege in 2015. Of course I played the crap out of that game and now it's different. It's not bad, it's just different and I'm not a big fan of the art style of where they're going with stuff. Obviously nowadays it's a different development team than 2015, but unfortunately I just don't feel that the same passion and love for the game is there as it used to be at least not taking it into the direction that I think they originally wanted. It now feels like the game is being directed from the top with obviously sales in mind to keep a 10-year-old game alive and that's not a bad thing from a business standpoint. You got to keep stuff fresh but you can't forgo the players who are dedicated to the game. No matter what, you can't break their trust if you break the trust of the dedicated, then nobody's going to be able to play the game.
Totally disagree with Skull and Bones statement. As devs they perfectly knew what they are doing, they had almost a decade to figure out what fans wanted, but instead they put on pink glasses and thought this manure would go through. If they knew the game would flop and didn't leave the company it's even more on them
I’m a simple person; I see a new G video, I watch it. I love the content and the balanced perspective; I hope you keep putting out new content as long as it’s something you enjoy! Happy for you and your journey, I hope the community treats you well ❤
(SPOILERS for Far Cry 6, don't read if you want to enjoy the game) I don't understand the writing for fc 6. It was set up to be a really interesting story but it basically just ends abruptly. The cutscenes showed Gus Frings kid at times following his dads footsteps but then also rebelling against him. Which made me think something crazy was going to happen between him and his father. The writer clearly didn't eat breakfast that morning as he was like 'ah well what if Gus Fring just killed his own son coz It turns out that he is actually really dumb.' So now when I replay the game, all the cut scenes feel kind of pointless.
The writing of the game is kinda rushed especially with gus compared to the other far cry's.He's nearly inexistant and have next to zero interactions with him plus the end if killing himself and his kid is just bad And for a gerilla game I feel like there's no connection with the people and the characters are just meh at best not like FC4 where your choice matters and you can see its consequences
Ubisoft seems to have this really weird idea of either beating a trend to death or fixing something that didn’t need fixing. Splinter Cell is a great example. The first one and Chaos Theory were perfect but for some reason Ubisoft felt the need to change how Splinter Cell is played then get upset that it didn’t work out then punish the consumers by not making anymore (beside that fact Michael Ironside had some health issues) and now I’m almost convinced that they’re gonna screw up the remake. Assassin‘s Creed is another one and you hit the nail on the head with it. They take the formula of the open world map design and put it into every single game beating a genre to death
Imagine what would happen if Ubisoft execs doubled down on siege and spent a year revitalizing the game. Imagine how much better off their profits would be as a company. Instead of trying to release more garbage open world far cry clones, they could just pump all that development power into either siege, or working on siege 2
Ubisoft are the kings that making shitty bland, dry non-expressive open world games I believe the worst thing they’ve ever done was to cut the budget and the staff of the rainbow six devs that’s the worst thing they could ever do The last games I ever liked from Ubisoft or blacklist , rainbow siege, future soldier and I’m honestly scared for these licenses when I heard Ubisoft in the futurist planning on doing a remake of the original splinter cell. I am honestly scared and that sucks. They used to be my favorite franchise. I love splinter cell and ghost recon but when I hear these titles now, I’m honestly just more scared than I am happy that they’re coming back.
The last ubiosoft game that I ever loved and appreciated for not being generic slop is for honor. Say what you want about it now being ruined due to never-ending content updates that ruin the authenticity of the game (just like r6), but from release to marching fire the game was truly amazing and is still unique in comparison to so many games out there.
As long as Ubisoft earns cash for bosses - they are doing everything right. It's the players who buy garbage. Don't support greedy practices and shitty games financially and only then things will change imho.
It really sucks that the algorithm bullied G into sticking into siege, videos with their ability to yap but on other topics I enjoy are always a pleasure to watch
Yo this dude been yapping for the past few days and I’m all here for it. I wonder what he thinks about the future of the Jack Ryan TV show and how it might lead to leave Ghost Recon or Siege shows / cameos.
The game literally looks like a bootleg version of ghost of tsushima lmao. Even the fucking UI looks copy and pasted 💀. Atleast they made sure to have a black guy as a samurai for free marketing rage bait.
Cmon, anyone could have foreseen that Star Wars outlaws would be manure. Ubislop don't stray away from their formula of dead boring open world games. Just look at their previous games like Avatar and you will get the picture
I don’t particularly hate Ubisoft, for me it’s a big company that mostly put out okay games and sometimes one that I really enjoy, Ubi feels the least hostile to its players for me, you hear increasingly more aggressive monetization model for example from Activision and EA, you don’t hear that as much from Ubi and when you do it’s not as bad
We've hit a point in gaming where its not about the passion anymore. People becoming devs for the status symbol over delivering a quality experience. Its cool to say you make video games for a living but you hate the work. Lack of passion, and the worsening economy is creating complacency across the board. People dont have time to move to a new company where they might get laid off anyways, so they stick around where theyve always been. Conditions are bad for all th grunt workers but there's no room to demonstrate accountability on any front. Ubisoft deserves its fall at this point. I love Siege but I haven't played since they got rid of old quick match. Boycotts are useless. Vote with your money, but most importantly, to those who have already bought their titles: vote with your time. Uninstall today. No more crap from Ubi, Blizzard, Microsoft, Sony etc.
Ubisoft has great ideas but pooor execution. They always go for the most safe bet, their stories dont say anything, their games are just meh, because of it.
It’s not even that I don’t trust them, although I don’t either cus of the crew being shut down. But there servers for any and all pvp games suck ass, hit reg, net code, and shitty servers are common place in ALL UBISOFT GAMES, heck UNO JUST STARTED FUNCTIONING FOR ME ONLINE AFTER YEARS OF TRYING TO PLAY IT.
The issue is that Ubisnooze hires only liberal women to work in their office so the games turn out to be soft, non offensive, gay products that fail miserably
