To answer your question: Its because the Naruto fandom judges people based on how they treat Naruto. You like him from the beginning, then you get praise. You mistreat him at first, but then you slowly understand how he is and come to like him, yeah, they still won't forgive you. Sasuke has haters, although not as much as Sakura.

I liked Hinata in part 1. She had a crush on Naruto but she was much more focused on becoming strong enough to prove to her father that he was wrong about her. She was determined to have a rematch with Hanabi and win back her title of heiress to prove herself to her clan. Then shippunden came and all of that disappeared. She had no thoughts or opinions of her own. she didn’t have a single line of dialogue that wasn’t about Naruto the vast majority of it was just “N- Naruto-kun.” She was completely useless to the series and completely gave up everything that wasn’t related to Naruto. she lost her personality as well. She just became nothing. To this day Hinata is the weakest character in Konoha 11. her gentle fist skills are still close to Genin level (she still can’t rotate, which most Hyuga learn how to do when they’re around 8 years old) and not once in the entire series has she done nothing. She tried to fight Neji and failed, had to be saved by teachers. She tried to fight Pain and failed, had to be saved by Sakura She tried to save Hanabi and failed, had to be saved by Naruto While Sakura unlocked her Byakugou at the age of 15 (a feat that pretty much everyone thought was impossible), decimated a large chunk of the enemy force by herself and saved hundreds of lives during the war, Hinata tripped over a rock and she cried 💀 She gave up her dream to regain her title of heiress and the second she got with Naruto, she gave up being a shinobi entirely. Hinata is the worst written character I’ve ever seen in anime Hell, in all of fiction. If you removed her from the series, the only thing that would change is that Neji would be alive. That’s literally it. She does nothing, she says nothing, it’s literally just Naruto. Naruto, Naruto with her. He’s the only thing she ever thinks about and it’s gross to have a female character have no thoughts or opinions of her own and be nothing more than a weak, willed housewife with no dreams or aspirations. Even her romance with Naruto, which is literally the entire point of her character, is terribly written. Even Masashu Kishimoto himself said that Naruto and Hinata were never meant to be together and that Naruto and Sakura were, but that he’d made Hinata’s character revolve around Naruto so much that he didn’t know what to do with her. And yet, Hinata seems to have a lot of fans... which are some of the most toxic neckbearfd I’ve ever seen. They know she’s useless and terribly written so they bash and drag down Sakura,Ino,Temari, all whom are far superior to Hinata in literally every way. They seem to be the type of people that believe in woman’s only worth is her appearance and obedience to her owner- I mean husband... I’ve known people who left the Naruto fandom entirely because of how absolutely disgusting Hinatards are Copy and paste if you’d like to spread the word

I will tell you why Sakura is so disliked simply because Kishimoto tried to make her into a flawed very human character with strengths and weaknesses and as human beings we all have shortcomings. Sakura reminds the haters too much of thier own waeknesses and flaws. But for me as a flawed human being with all my imperfections/weaknesses that's what made Sakura a very relatable character her humanity and flawed human weaknesses. The arguments the anti-sakura folks give make very little sense like I hate her cuz she's a useless bitch man.. when one takes the time to objectively look at what she did accomplish they would realize that Kishi actually did a good job with this character.

Why I Like Hinata (I like Sakura, too, I just need to compare them for the people that are biased) Character: 1. I believe her character and personality was shat on, by she is still great. She is a quiet individual who has always sticked to her ideals. She was inspired by Naruto, and she always thought about him whenever she was in a state of distress or in a problem. She thought about how optimistic he was, even in the saddest of times, and she held on to this. She used him as his inspiration, and this is an admirable quality of hers. 2. She is kind to everybody. Even though she liked Naruto, she was not mean to everyone else that wasn't him. She didn't hit or strike anyone else that wasn't Naruto. She was always kind to everyone, even when they were mean to her. Sakura's personality consisted of hitting, punching, and striking Naruto or anyone else when she was mad or angry. This is used for comical purposes, but it gets old real quick. People attach this to her personality, and it makes Sakura more dislikable than Hinata. Hinata never competed with anyone that liked Naruto, either. 3. She cares for people. We mostly see her caring for Naruto, but she still cares for others. During the chuunin exams, she went up to Naruto and gave him medicine. That was adorable. Really, really adorable. Hinata is just cute in general. Anyways, when her little sister was kidnapped by Toneri, she went to go help her immediately, even making Naruto think that he was being ditched. For all of the people that say that she only cares for Naruto, that is simply not true. Uselessness: 1. Hinata is not useless. She is powerful and fast. She has her byakugan, which comes in handy for many cases. She worked hard to be where she's at. Her main inspiration was Naruto. She looked at how hard he trained and she did the same (again, adorable). She is great at controlling chakra, even better than Ino. 2. Her quick and unusual Hyuuga methods are not fast to catch on to. Their jutsu and methods are unknown to anyone outside of their clan, giving her an advantage. She became skilled at using her clan's methods by the end of Shippuden. 3. Hinata was born into a powerful clan, BUT, she was not born with natural talent and she was not born a prodigy. She had to work her way up to where she is right now, and she worked hard. She worked so hard, that at certain points, she went blind. Her dedication to her clan kept her going, she knew the clan and her father needed her. Anybody that ignores this is ignorant, Hinata worked hard, maybe as hard as Sakura. Strong Points in Her Character/ Personality: 1. Hinata is great. She was by Naruto's side even when no one was there for him. From the beginning, she always liked him. She didn't like him just for looks. She liked him because she realized he was kindhearted and pure. Even when everyone else was swooning over Sasuke, she still liked Naruto. She stayed with him until the very end, and she encouraged Naruto to do better, too. 2. She isn't very strong physically, but she tries her best. She tried really hard to catch up to Neji, and by the end of Shippuden, she did. She worked really hard for it. She wanted to make her father and clan proud, and she did this for the future of her clan. She knew that the future of the clan depended on her strength, and she made sure to at least try and live up to her clan's name. Also, she created her own jutsu when she was 12. 12!! 3. Her character is soft and gentle, something other female characters lack. She cares for her family. When she was training in front of her dad, she couldn't hit her little sister because she didn't want to harm her. She is a great mother/wife. Naruto is gone most of the time, but she has to raise 2 kids by herself (with some help from Naruto). She has to keep a bratty 12 year old and a little girl under control. She still kind of needs to grow a backbone. She's too soft, that's why she it's hard for her to keep Boruto under control. 4. She is emotionally very strong. When Neji died, she shed a couple of tears, but then she made sure Naruto went back to his normal mental state. She made sure Naruto didn't go crazy or breakdown because of Neji's death. Sakura on the other hand, she is emotionally weak. She has a weak spot for Sasuke. She was about to die because she couldn't kill Sasuke herself. 5. She is helpful. When Shizune, Ino, and Sakura were doing the 4 corner sealing to seal the 3 tailed beast, she was able to help with ease, she even did better than Ino, a trained medical ninja. Hinata has no prior training in medical ninjutsu, but the reason she was able to do it was because her clan needs strong and precise chakra control for their techniques, and because she worked hard to try and master her chakra control. She has the byakugan, which has come in handy in multiple occasions. Even though she almost died from the hands of Pain, if she hadn't stepped in, Naruto would probably be dead. 6. She has courage, because she knew she would probably die, but she still went in to try and save Naruto. It seems kind of stupid, which it is, but she still helped. If it wasn't for her, Naruto wouldn't have met his father, or be able to kill Pain. Development: Hinata grew from a shy, timid, and weak girl, into a hard working mother. At the beginning, all she cared was about Naruto, but she used that to help her get stronger. Her methods certainly worked, since now, she is stronger than she ever was. She used her feelings to her advantage, which is a great quality to have. She trained and trained, not only for Naruto, but for her clan. She knew she had a responsibility, and she worked hard to try and conquer that responsibility. At the end, she finally got what she wanted, and that's great for her. She deserves it. She always stayed by Naruto's side, and she always tried to help in more ways than one. Now, about the people that only like her for her body, they're pretty shallow, but many people like Hinata for more than just her body and looks. She is very pretty, but that's not all there is to her. She's strong, hardworking, responsible, and definitely not useless. Her character seems bad because of bad writing. She got little character development, but even with that little character development, she still turned out to be a great character. Hinata is even better in The Last Naruto movie. She's practically the main character in that movie and the plot revolves around her mostly. That's a sign of a very relevant character. Sakura, on the other hand, was never relevant in the grand scheme of things. She was always just there because she's part of team 7 and Kishimoto always had to hammer in the team 7 nostalgia. Sakura is somehow worse in Gaiden because she unnecessarily kept secrets from her daughter, gets mad when her daughter asks if she's really Sasuke's wife, actually taped her picture over the woman that delivered her daughter, and can't even recall if Sasuke wore glasses or not. Hinata is just better written and even Kishimoto admitted in his 2015 Kobayashi interview that girls would tell him they hate Sakura.

Hinata is kind and shy, where as Sakura is selfish and needy, which is a big reason on the character level why I like Hinata much more than Sakura. Neither character is particularly powerful, but Sakura's character development took forever to give her any usefulness. Had they focused more on Sakura's chakra control and healing, like a mini Tsunade, she would be more useful, which would help people overlook some of her less likable qualities.

In my opinion Sakura's terrible because she treated Naruto bad, even though he was nothing but kind to her. I disagree with everything, please hear me out. THE REASON WHY FANS LOVE HINATA IS THAT THEY TAKE A BLIND EYE ON HER FAULTS, AND INSTEAD SPECULATE SAKURA'S. You ignore Hinata's early screentime. She was shown getting kicked out of the Hyuga clan, losing to her younger sister, Hanabi, and forced into the ninja world where she was brutally rocked by Neji. Because of this she is insecure, shy, and physically weak as a ninja. I at first saw these things as not flaws, but tools to drive her character. Kishimoto failed her by not showing us, the viewers, how she truly improved and overcame her set backs. She continued to be weak in Shippuden. Determination can only do so much to make us like a character. I initially LOVED Hinata, because I am a shy quiet person, I automatically cheer on the underdog. But she remained the underdog and became a house wife. She was never meant to be a ninja, simple as that. Her character is driven around Naruto. SHE is a flat character. Hinata gets love because her flaws are not exploited. While Sakura haters claim she is weak, useless, "only a medic" Hinata is a GODDESS. I'm going to give my reasons why I hate Sakura with actual evidence. I don't really care about the "Is Sakura Useless Argument". It seems like a waste of time to me, since Sakura is definitely an extremely capable shinobi. She may not be as strong as Naruto and Sasuke, but she worked hard and got stronger because of it. The whole "Sakura is whiny" thing is just whatever to me. No complaints here. Now onto the bad stuff. Sakura is shallow. She only liked Sasuke for his looks and his "cool" ninja skills. She disliked Naruto because he wasn't super smart or as capable as everyone else. She never really tried to get to know Sasuke better, or understand why Naruto was the way he was. Also, she said that she thought Naruto acted the way he did because he didn't have any parents, and that she thought all orphans were as bad as him (I don't remember the exact wording, but I'm pretty sure it was similar to that). That is so extremely shallow that it more than crosses the line to being just plain insensitive, rude, and offensive. Sakura is also extremely abusive. She always would hit Naruto for the dumbest reasons, even when he was just trying to show how much he cared about her. She would also ignore all of his affections, and always chasing after Sasuke who clearly didn't care for her (or at least didn't care enough to show it). She would constantly insult Naruto and say that he could never be as good as Sasuke. Again, we see her sticking to her shallow assumptions, and putting Naruto down after he worked extremely hard. That on its own was enough to make me dislike her, but the fucking anvil that broke the camels back was when she "confessed her love" for Naruto. What. The. Absolute. Fuck. I'm just gonna go through everything about why this was a horrible thing to do from least bad to absolutely fucking horrible. First, she lied about her feelings. Pretty simple thing to be upset about, but in my opinion, you should never lie about love. Even if it may result in breaking someone's heart, its better to tell the truth because you don't want to lead them on. Second, she thought that doing so would make Naruto stop going after Sasuke. Going back to the extremely shallow bit, she never understood the very basic part of Naruto's character where he actually cared about his best friend. On top of this, she assumed the only reason he was going after Sasuke was for her, which is extremely self-centered and narcissistic. Thirdly, she knew about Hinata's feeling for Naruto. While healing Hinata's injuries from when Pain stabbed her, she thinks to herself that she must really love Naruto a lot, even to the point of sacrificing her own life to save him. Knowing this, she tried to make Naruto think she loved him when there was clearly someone else that loved him more than probably anyone else, and effectively tried to destroy any of her chances to be with him. And last but not least, she tried to manipulate Naruto's emotions. She knew that Naruto "loved" her, and tried to use that to her advantage. That is something that I absolutely despise: people who manipulate others emotionally to get what they want. And like I said earlier, love is something that I don't think should ever be lied about or manipulated, especially when someone is trying to manipulate someone else. Okay, I'm done now. (Just as a side note, I think that if Naruto hadn't convinced himself he was in love with Sakura, he probably would have hated her the most out of everyone.)

Hinata is a Mary Sue. She's nice but boring and more irrelevant to the plot. I would of supported it if there was more development, Naruto reciprocated and she had stronger, other motivations. More resilience. But everything was about "NAruto kUN". I think I lost it when she went to go fight Pain just for Naruto. After her village got exploded, no rage just Naruto. Naruhina, NaruSaku and SasuSaku are terrible. Naruto and Naruto Shippuden didn't need romance, so that's why I skipped fillers.

I hate Sakura. She gave Naruto shit for not having parents while forgetting that Sasuke doesn't have parents either, gives Naruto crap for giving her attention and not getting the attention from her precious emo prince, she barely help with anything throughout pre time skip and after she ran into Sasuke after the Gaara rescue arc and don't forget that time when Sakura faked a love confession to Naruto to get his ass back to the village and thankfully Naruto called out on her B.S. and that was the moment that he knew that his feelings for Sakura was gone.

Why I Like Sakura (I like Hinata, too. I just have to compare her for those people that are biased towards Sakura and like Hinata better.) Pain fight: You realize why Sakura couldn't go and help Naruto during the pain fight? It's because... 1. She wasn't able to see him. Hinata could, since she has her byakugan. To Sakura, Naruto just wasn't in view. 2. Sakura isn't even ALLOWED to go and help him. She's a medic ninja, you aren't allowed to go and fight on the front lines no matter what! However, there are two exceptions: You have the byakugou seal, or you're the last one standing. She was neither, she wasn't allowed. Being a medic ninja means HEALING, not fighting. If she's a medic ninja, she has absolutely NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to die on the battlefield, it would endanger her comrades. Being a medic means staying alive and healing your teammates, dying would be a really big problem. That's about it, but I have to say that Hinata didn't really do much during the pain fight. She just got beat up. The poor girl got flipped over then skewered by pain ;( . Then SAKURA healed her. Without Sakura, Hinata would be dead. I like both of them, and before you say anything, you should remember that these are just fictional characters. Uselessness: Also, may I point out why Sakura ISN'T useless? 1. She saved many lives and helped defeated an akatsuki member. She even went as far as risking her life for someone(Chiyo). -lives saved: Naruto, Kankuro, Chiyo, Naruto, Sasuke, Hinata, Shikamaru, and many people during the war. 2. She got the byakugou seal. That's a feat not even Shizune could accomplish. Hashirama (the god of shinobi) even acknowledged her strength and compared it to Tsunade's, one of the three legendary sannin. He said Sakura was stronger than Tsunade. Hashirama- god of shinobi, acknowledged someone "useless". 3. She did a significant amount in the war, she helped heal the injured, she summoned Katsuyu to heal, and she helped defeat those mini tailed beast thingies (idk the name). She made multiple get destroyed with a single punch. Many people go and point out her "superhuman strength". Both Naruto and Sasuke were impressed. She healed basically all of the Shinobi alliance. She helped seal away Kaguya. 4. She helped seal away a tailed beast. Ino, Hinata, and Shizune also helped with this, but comparing how Ino did with Sakura really makes you wonder... 5. After the war, she helped people physically and mentally. She made an orphanage with Ino for the kids that lost their parents after the war. She helped treat them mentally, too. She made a clinic for the mentally disturbed. 6. People tend to compare her accomplishments to Naruto and Sasuke's... but, Sakura doesn't come from any significant clan, she has no prominent bloodline. She worked hard to get to where she did, and at a point, she even reached Naruto and Sasuke's level (but then they got their sage of six paths chakra and stuff and then she got trampled). Compare her to another no name clan character. She seems really strong now, doesn't she? Comparing her with Ino and Hinata still makes her seem strong. Now, she's the strongest kunoichi in the Leaf. Hard work pays off. 7. She worked hard because she realized she was useless, that's why she trained with Tsunade. She wanted to help back up Naruto and Sasuke on the battlefield. She didn't want to be a burden. 8. She was the one that found out the abilities of White Zetsu. She obtained a valuable amount of knowledge and shared it. I know for a fact that Hinata, Ino, or Tenten didn't do as much as her, but that's just because Kishimoto sucks at character development and plot. Hinata probably had the most potential. She was the heiress of a powerful clan, and she had the byakugan. She finally made it to 64 palms, but they ended her development there. In "The Last", she got a powerup, too(I think?), but she doesn't use it much. She helped out during the Pain fight, but she was too weak. She at least had the courage to step forward and help, she was really brave. Basically anyone that wasn't Naruto or Sasuke didn't get much screentime. They all had so much potential, but he just sucks at writing female characters. Character development: Sakura...oh boy. In Part 1, she was really annoying. All she cared about was Sasuke, but all Hinata cared about was Naruto. She was pretty useless and annoying. I really hated her back then. Finally, in the chunin exam arc, she tried to protect both Naruto and Sasuke. She really tried her hardest, but ultimately failed. She was weak, and she realized this. I think her being self aware about this led her character to grow even better. She trained with Tsunade, and she learned how to heal. Her taijutsu got a lot better, and she became more useful on the battlefield. She helped save and heal countless lives. She was a big help after the war. She realized how self absorbed she was when Sai pointed it out to her (Thanks for that Sai! Someone finally said it...) so she tried to kill Sasuke. Her weakness was him, so she wasn't able to do it. Sakura became strong physically, but her emotions kicked in when Sasuke was there. Sasuke was her biggest weakness, and I don't think she ever changed that. He only did that because Sakura tried killing him first. It was a really dumb move on her part, but she had good intentions. She thought Naruto would stop suffering, but it was still dumb. People hate on Sakura for loving Sasuke after he tried killing her, but no one points out that Naruto tried going after Sasuke. Sasuke tried killing Naruto, too. Naruto still goes after Sasuke because of the bond they shared. Karin still loved Sasuke after he basically stabbed her, no one points that out either. Sakura went after him, even after he tried killing her, because she cared for him. She was able to put her childish crush aside, and instead she wanted to help ease the pain he felt. She even said that she wanted to take away the pain that he felt. It wasn't a childish crush anymore, instead, she truly loved him, that's why she went after him. Same with Naruto. Naruto felt a true bond that he never felt with anyone else. That's why even after Sasuke tried killing him, Naruto always chased after Sasuke. Another thing, Sasuke left the village for 10 years because he was protecting Sakura, Sarada, and the village from the shadows. He wanted to make sure there were no more threats to the shinobi world, that way, everyone could be at peace. Sakura understood this, she was probably the only one (aside from Naruto) that understood Sasuke. That's what drove her to raise Sarada by herself. Sakura knew Sasuke was doing good this time instead of bad, that's why she didn't chase after him for those 10 years. For those 10 years, Sakura knew he was protecting, not destroying. That's why she let him go and protect. People that don't agree just because they hate Sakura: Well, it's your opinion. But, it just proves how biased you are even when facts are stated. If you don't like Sakura, then instead of denying the things she did, it'd be better to forget about her as a whole. (Sorry if this comes out as offensive, I just don't know how else to put it.) About her being "useless", I'm pretty sure what those things I stated (and more) are maybe more than useless. Like...saving people's lives? Saving Hinata's life? Healing everyone in the ninja alliance sounds kinda useful, too. Not sure. You can hate her, but saying she's useless is hypocritical since Hinata did basically nothing. Even Kishimoto doesn't know why she gets this much hate, he even said himself that he tried making Sakura do more and be more likable. He said that as each day went by, Hinata's fan base kept growing, even though she did nothing, but when he made Sakura do something, her fan base would either stay the same or go down in numbers. The creator of Naruto even said that Hinata basically did nothing... Imo, Hinata did less than Sakura, but Sakura still gets hate for being "useless". I like both of them, but Hinata seems way too overrated, and Sakura seems too underrated. They're both great people, though. They both did their fair share, and I think at the end, the story works out to be fine. Sakura, her personality is meh, but the things she has done are amazing. idk about what he said but when i was in twitter, tumblr and facebook. people hated sakura because she liked someone else and hinata loved the main character, so it makes more people appeal to hinata because they self identify as naruto. besides, sakura hate and hinata love only happens in the west, you can go check out polls and surverys and sakura's actually well liked and loved in japan, whereas hinata's usually not even in top 5.
