No one seems to admit this, but Mayweather's victory over Oscar was razor-thin. Somehow people seem to think Floyd walked all over De La Hoya. Not at all the case.

I was supporting Floyd in a Mexican bar in California. I remember it well. I was the only one, but Australian. It was a terrible fight. A smaller guy hitting bigger guy at will who didn’t feel it.

I believe the punch stat was well in favour of Floyd. Dela Hoya stupidly neglected to use his jab. That was the only way he was going to challenge Floyd. His open attacks on Floyd left him vulnerable to counter punching which Floyd excelled at. Also Dela Hoya's combinations caught elbows and gloves, missing their target for the most part.

@@mattstyles1244 I was in the Mayweather camp for two days in training for this fight. I was babysitting one of Roger’s boys. The kid was still in nappies. I think he was two. He had little gloves, I had mitts. I knew fro this kids balance and tenacity and skills: Floyd would win. I had grand expectations, I saw Floyd work out. Like nothing I’d seen before, or since. It was a terrible mix of styles, and a boring fight. My main impression of Floyd was that he was like an Olympian but moved effortlessly. Most Olympians are carrying some injury.

I've always liked Oscar. He's never put on a false bravado like so many others. There's a vulnerability there. Haters hate, and for some reason some have hated Oscar, but I never have. Oscar, if you happen to read this, seek Jesus. Read the gospel of John. God bless you.

You can say what you want about Oscars personal issues, but there is only a few fighters in Boxing who can match Oscars resume. He fought all the best fighters in the world.

I know you’re supposed to not have regrets in life, but it still has to kill Oscar that he ran from Trinidad the last three rounds. He fought so beautifully the whole fight. Prime Oscar. And he listened to his corner. All he he has to do was continue fighting. He was putting on a show. Crazy.

Yeah i agree. Even though he ran for the last 3 rounds, i am still not sure he deserved to lose. A draw would of been a fairer outcome. You also have to question Trinidad after we found out years later that his gloves at times were loaded even if it still doesn't stop him being one of the greats like De La Hoya.

MANNY'S HATER DOESNT REALIZE THIS! Oscar Drop down 10 lbs from 154 division to 145lbs but people forgot Manny just climb 3 divisions that time to fight OSCAR. Manny was a coming from SUPERFEATHER 130lbs from March then fought David Diaz June at 135 and 145lbs on December. let that sink in. NOBODY HAS EVER DONE THAT!

@@pkte to be exact, its only two divisions. Pac was in his prime, oscar wasnt. It's safer for a younger man to go up two weight divisions than an older man to go down in a weightclass he hasnt fought for almost eight years. For a 5 foot 10 guy who at some point already fought at middleweight and then go back at 147 doesnt really sound healthy. If you know the risk and danger of weightcutting then surely you would understand what im talking bout.

@@pkte it has been done numberous times. Pac, mosley, duran, hopkins, canelo, roy jones, etcetera...pac wasnt fighting a guy in his prime against delahoya. Fredie roach was on oscars corner when he fought floyd so he exactly knows that oscar would have a very difficult time beating the scales. They needed to inject iv's to rehydrate oscar. The fact that pac was actually the bigger man on fight night just goes to show how bad in shape oscar was.

ODLH is a real one, the old breed and stable of fighters! He came from not much and earned every single dollar along the way. It wasn't easy but here he is, what a life he has carved out for himself and family. The greats do lose out on doing some things growing up BUT in the big pic, what did they really lose out on.... Tiger was brought up the same way when it came to golf and Jorge Posada when it came to catching and look where they ended up. Alot of sacrifice but I'd bet none of them would give up their fortunes and careers now for anything, so in the end all worth it! March on.

I heard a lot about Dela Hoya but the very first that I've watched his full fight was with Tito Trinidad. And yes, I've noticed 9th round, that he was keeping himself at bay I really said out loud, WTF is doing? Why he stops punching and keeps on running and hugging, does he wants to lose? I was even scolded by my uncles and granpa who were boxing afficionados, and told me that I know nothing about boxing strategy. But I argued and stood my ground that it was too early for that strategy and might cost him the the fight if he keeps on doing it. My cousins even told me that I'm no brighter than the coaches and trainers in Dela Hoya's bench so I better STFU. But after the fight, they were the one who got mum. and I said that I guess, it's high time for Dela Hoya to consider firing his coach. I have watched all his fight after that, especially the one against floyd jr. I even risked being reprimanded and eventually suspended at my job for going undertime unauthorized just to watch the fight. But unfortunately, I didn't see it living the hype. And for me, that was the most boring fight, Oscar ever had until he finally hangs his gloves against Pacquiao. And for me, it proved the notion that crooks in the sport must have propelled floyd's career in boxing. floyd should lose that fight against Oscar, the same way and reason Oscar lose to Tito.

Stop lying Oscar. You were the A side against Pacquiao and you called out Pacquiao because Floyd retired and did not honor the rematch clause. You wanted that last big payday and Pacquiao could generate that money for you. Only problem was Pacquiao was fighting at 122-126 lbs at that time, had one fight at 135 against David Diaz. He had to move up 2 weight class straightaway to fight you. You set the rules not Pacquiao. You can't make excuses that You were drained yada yada, it was your call. In fact boxing pundits had you knocking out Pacquiao due to the size difference. Imagine if today Inoue jumps weight classes and fights Tim Tszyu at 147. Don't make it sound like you were at a disadvantage and Pacquiao wasn't.

When Oscar fought Pacquiao, they fought at 147-lbs. This was a weight that Oscar had not fought at in 7-years. Pacquiao had just fought at lightweight, so he only had to gain a little bit of weight. It's much easier to gain weight, than it is to lose weight. Pacquiao had the advantage. The age advantage as well. Pacquiao was younger. Oscar was drained. But it's his fault for accepting the fight at 147-lbs. FYI - Pacquiao also made both Cotto and Margarito lose weight and fight him at a catchweight. Cotto had to come in at 145-lbs (instead of 147-lbs); Margarito had to come in at 150-lbs (instead of 154-lbs). Pacquiao always seeking the advantage. Every fighter does this.

Oscar called out Pacquiao not the other way round. Pacquiao was fighting at 'SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT' and had just moved up to lightweight and fought one fight at lightweight against David Diaz. Did you expect Pacquiao to move up to Light middleweight from Lightweight?! Oscar drained himself for a payday he knew he can generate against Pacquiao. Tell me any 126 lbs fighter who just had one fight at 130 and moved up to 147 to fight a 154/160 fighter. Name any big name fighter.

Facts! Haters still blame Pacquiao for draining Dela Hoya while the fact is Pacquiao had no say in this fight. Oscar drained himself in order to fight a very small fighter and move him up 3 weight class. Oscar was calling all the shots. But they need to discredit Pacquiao's greatness. Remember, Pacquiao could have stayed at 126 all his career, he was a small fighter for 140-147. Look at today's boxers 5 foot 9 walking around 170 lbs but fights at 135 lbs😂

@@user-ns3nr2by6h exactly and thats all that matters. ODLH was an amazing fighter with the heart of a lion. At his peak, he only lost a razor thin decision to SSM. He destroyed Tito and got robbed. He outclassed Mosley in their rematch and got jobbed, again. Middleweight Oscar was him at his worst. By the time he fought Mayweather and Pacquiao he was wayy past his prime.

Oscar won the fight against Mayweather… Oscar never ducked anybody fought til the very end of his carreer but Floyd on the other hand cherry picks and never risked anything… Golden Boy is a better representation of American Boxing than Floyd and definitely Oscar has a better Legacy than Floyd
