@@dariusjarvis1992 LOVELESS wasn't written by Genesis, but he rigorously studied the old poem. Also he isn't actually dead, and (as of Dirge of Cerberus) is newly empowered by the Planet as some form of enforcer. Perhaps the Genesis we will meet, will be a Genesis from the original timeline (or with OG timeline memories).

I think that all these references could mean something exclusively to those who know the plot of the Compilation. New players wouldn't have a single clue about who Genesis is as they (probably) don't have one about who Zack is.

Zack's life or death isnt really that connected with genesis. Its more likely he will return because first genesis is alive even until dirge of cerberus and second if we are talking about connection then sepiroth has more connection to genesis than anyone in the series

@@whatthe9256 we're talking about connections to a newly revived character (Zack). Sephiroth alone bears no need to invoke Genesis. Sephiroth never previously had any reason to mention Genesis to Cloud and party. Zack differs there. I see your points tho.

@@ferrarif1w886 I'm with you there. That whole ending twist brought about different questions for different groups. Only compilation fans have any reference to Zack, Buster Sword history, Banora, G Soldier types, Deepground, etc. New players are like "Why does this new guy have Cloud's sword?"

100% agree. I'm not Genesis biggest fan, but he certainly added to the experience and was just fine as a character for me with the added bonus of adding more depth to Sephiroth. Not sure why people cry lol

Fabian Kynly I think Cissnei is a lock. She’ll definitely be showing up. If we get a reference to Kunsel in Part 1 we’ll get a full cameo of Cissnei in part 2 at least.

I really hope they don't. Crisis Core does so much weird stuff with the story of the original, that the remake really don't need.

Angeal isn't showing up. Do you realize how much that would break even the lore this alternate timeline has? That's the whole reason Zack even had the buster sword. Angeal fought Zack and upon his defeat, gave the buster Sword to Zack.

Body-ing genesis into to life stream gave me a lot of catharsis as a kid, he’s easily my least favorite part of CC

Genesis returning might have to do more sepiroth more than zack and he is legtimately alive even during dirge of cerberus. He was actually a very huge plothole to the ff7 timelines since he disappeared after crisis then suddenly appeared after the very end of dirge of cerberus

Yeah man I seen it too I haven’t even played the original let alone crisis core and from what I’ve seen so far and with the ending it just makes so much sense.

My zany theory is "Zack are sick". Hojo took to tattooing his Sephiroth "clones" with a number and failures (like Cloud) didn't get one. Is it too far fetched to assume Zack was number 2? This would explain his returning to Midgar as the Jenova cells in his body would be pressing for a reunion. (Since Jenova's body was moved to Shinra HQ after the Nibelheim incident) Sure he thinks it's because he wants to see Aerith, but perhaps there's more to it.

@@bowlympicshero Those sepiroth clones already existed even before zack and cloud was experimented on so zack being number 2 is highly unlikely. These tatooed clones were the clones inside the pods in the nibelheim reactor

@@bowlympicshero You do realise why Zack wanted to get to Midgar right? He just realised 4+ years passed by since he last saw Aerith. She is his dream girl. Also given the power of the lifestream, his own Jenova cells were likely purified (in a similar manner to Genesis).

It is not good stuff >_< or at least I do not want this to be true. I hope they keep it to the story of FF VII and not go all bananas on us even though it is kinda impossible to course correct or not add crazy stuff.

I mean, let's get creative here, you have the majority of the community who were happy with part 1 aside from the Kingdom Hearts ending, let's not follow that up with another controversial move. Hell, I'd rather they threw their creativity into Roche going insane from the Mako and becoming a villain rather than another Jenova subject wouldn't you? I mean come on, let's push these developers to be creative and not rehash something that was already done and largely ineffective. Just my two cents but mediocrity it's sad mediocrity is just accepted nowadays.

Rick Crain The fans outnumber the haters. You talk about the devs not being creative when the ending is the most “creative” thing in the entire game. Fuck it, at this rate they might rewrite Genesis’s character as a whole and make him have even more appeal. It’s far from mediocrity. That’s the last thing you should expect at this point.

Yeah, too much hate has been piled on Nomura - and all the Kingdom Hearts nonsense too. I don't see anything Kingdom Hearts about the Whispers and the Harbinger, at all! Phil from The Phil-Up Gaming has an excellent video in defending Nomura.

​ Fabian Lelo This is why there is such a division between OG fans and new. You don't see any Kingdom hearts? Really? The whole destiny/fate fight? Ghosts throughout the game literally forcing people to move in certain directions/actions? I like both FF and the beginning parts of KH, these are very different stories with very different styles. (Speaking specifically of FFVII) Kingdom hearts let you know from the very beginning that the world is connected to other worlds. You learned that these were connected in different aspects. Not only that, the worlds react differently due to the actions of people, beings and their motives. The darkness and light, the balance of such being constantly threatened. FFVII was about people dealing with the threat of their world being destroyed, and each person coming to terms with their own personal ways of dealing with that threat. The remake did really well in expanding on this portion, it gave us more insight to the supporting characters. (Which in itself was pretty wholesome.) It was never about destiny or who was fated to act or not. Not about time and alternate timelines. Just one planet, its people and their problems. Ultimately, it doesn't matter who is responsible for the changes or the reason why. There are those of us that waited so long for this, just to see it turn out like everything else remade/re-imagined/recycled. A fraction of a great story of its former glory.

As for a fraction of the story, part 1 barely makes it out of Midgar, and you're already bemoaning the future installations? Now that attitude is why there is friction between those who played FF7 (PS1), and those who got into the series through other installments/media.

I actually wouldn't mind if they remake that game it really does need a new polish in graphics and gameplay imo.

@@kevinvu5432 DoC was technically the first appearance of Genesis as a character. It introduced him and tried to set him up as the villain of the next (prequel) game: CC. It wasn't meant to lead to anything but the ending is the last canonical scene in the FF7 universe with a human in it, and is still a cliffhanger. The devs seem to be gathering from all installments of FF7 Media, and perhaps this is just one other thing they're using to develop some of the new story. It's up in the air really.

easy he's boring bland and a shit antagonist his motivations are off the chart and don't make any sense if that's the point ok doesn't change my mind him talk constantly talking about the goddess that just gets annoying even zack gets fed up with it telling him to shut up and of course he doesn't honestly I love crisis core I really do but that game would have been better if genesis wasn't in it and it was just a story about zack and cloud

@@fushiguromegumi1814 crisis core would be better without genesis okay think of this for a second you remember the nibelheim incident how sephiroth lost his mind on his own by slowly learning about jenova and by reading literature he learns more and then he completely isolate himself until the nibelheim incident happens and although that's in crisis core it's not the same genesis straight up tells him who jenova is what sephiroth is it's not as powerful genesis ruins the nibelheim incident if they were to remake crisis core I'd be okay if genesis came back but they need to change his character

The remake did fuck things up by even allowing these theories to be spun. I find the game amusing and it plays well to amazing but the story is written into a corner and there is basically no "saving it". They screwed the purists by derailing the story and I think they are gonna screw the ones that wanted "change" by still trying to be FF VII (Aerith will die, which will make the theme of the first part totally pointless). Dyne will still die even though that is pointless, Reds dad is still dead even though that as well is pointless, Cid will travel to space even though Cloud has been to whatever distant body edge of creation was. Both the past and the future and present are basically changed at once but I think they will still go through with these things selectively chosen just to be "creative". We can only continue as a fanfic/stupid sequel now and Nomura will think of how he can outsmart all fan theories because that is his only vision. People did not like Dirge of Cerebus but that game at least tried to stay within the world of FF VII. This remake broke that and basically drives off a cliff. I will watch what I can and follow the development but I will not preorder and if Zack is alive and in the coming games as more than just something in the past I will petition to napalm SQ headquarter.

@@vincentgraymore I think it was clear by the title FF7 Remake, that the game was going to be an alternate telling of the original FF7 game. I personally wouldn't want a rehash like that, and with the current environment, gives some reason for the compilation to be injected into the story. Besides purists are never satisfied with anything, because you can never really live up to their expectations. Why, you say? Because purists go off on nostalgia, and nostalgia is seriously flawed, but very, very powerful.

Unless we are talking about comics or new franchises I would never want time travel or multiverse to be injected, especially not 5 installments into a franchise, "just to have a continuation". I know I am not alone and I also know that I am in a minority. People blame nostalgia on "purists" while they themselves would not think a second time if this was another title with other characters. Nostalgia is different for different people. Remove the characters skins and all the names and people would see this game as just another SE title, not the iconic well-known FF VII. The game on a mechanical level has flaws, the game on graphics is flawed and the changes to a franchise is similar to the lightspeedraming in TLJ as in it shatters the foundation of the world. Everyone expects different things from a remake but in general, the term remake has never been used to describe an elseworld, timeline deviation, or soft reboot. This does not make it clever to have remake in the title, remaking the timeline or not. It just destroys a franchises attempt at establishing a term to communicate. Now people that have played both FF VII and the remake always have to think that a remake could just mean a sequel. Despite all this the game is good. This goes to show how much people just wanted to have the old characters back in high fidelity. Still, as someone that wanted a remake, not a sidequel, reimagination, or pure sequel I am not happy. I do not want to trade a few years of personal excitement for a world I loved to be shattered by fractured timelines, dilute into a multiverse all the while I have to play alternative timeline copies of the characters I love while also listen to how the OG was a bad timeline and outcome on even a metanarrative level. In many years whatever "unknown" or "I like this because I do not know what will happen" will be gone. The next installment might very well be awesome but I am not trusting SE one bit and if the story takes of into sequel or just elseworld then I think that FF VII will never be remembered as FF VII. Instead, people in 10 years or new fans will think that FF VII was always about time travel and fate because they will pick up the remake instead (people will think that they get the story of FF VII as it still has remake in the title) when just 1 year ago most people would have laughed at how stupid that would be in the world of FF VII. So the legacy is changed and in my opinion not for the better.

TroubadorPoet yep i want him too but he was mentioned in remake yet so i think he’s unlikely for now but kunsel was so i want him and zack with roche to team up under very funny circumstances and go in they’re own missions to stop sephiroth and the maybe returning genesis also

Well, it happened with Magus in Chrono Trigger so why not? Also, Sephiroth has every reason to have a redemption arc after what Genesis did to him. :)

I think it's a possibility. I just rewatched the ending battle of Dirge of Cerberus and watched the secret ending that so happens to resemble Genesis picking up Weiss who happened to be an additional DLC boss in FF7 intergrade. And while Dirge may not be completely linked to FF7 Remake, from Crisis Core Reunions stand point i think that there will be some kind of connection that will link him to Weiss and into the new FF7 trilogy .

I'm sure Genesis will show up as an optional super boss or something in game 3 or 4. The only references to Minerva in the OG is the Minerva Band and the most notable place you recieve one is The Ancient Forest. Perhaps the location of the shine of Minerva and where Genesis can be found? The only other way I see him appearing is during Zack flashbacks.
