Couple misc. thoughts and advice: -Don't let anyone criticize you for being happy. You don't need to pander to such petty, salty people. -Korea isn't going anywhere, you can always go back when you feel more up to it. -Sometimes great relationships don't last forever. What's important is how you've grown and the good times you had, there's no use clinging to things that only used to make you happy. It's hard now, and some parts might take longer to heal than others, but this will be good for you in the long run.

Oh my... I did notice a difference lately, something really seemed amiss... I even wondered if maybe the cycling trip was a way for you to find some zen and peace for whatever was going on in your life. There is no shame in keeping personal issues personal. Nor is there any shame in trying to be happy and positive on camera even when you feel like crap. :( I really wish there was something that I could do to help you feel better! On the topic of Maro and Luna... It is so evident how much you care about them. Im so sorry you’re going through this. But I really do hope that good things come your way. You don’t have to apologize about not talking about personal situations. Some good advice for pets I believe would be for you to perhaps volunteer at a shelter or something similar where you can interact with cats, I know it’s not your own but it might help you process how you can help other kitties and how your cats are doing good where they are now. I know this is a few years old, but Sharla you’re an inspiration to me. I’m currently getting through a breakup of 4 years with a wonderful man. It ended amicably and we both still have so much love for one another but like you, we weren’t making each other happy anymore. At least not in the ways we genuinely needed. We have a cat together, but he will be holding onto her. It breaks my heart because I love her so damn much, but I know she’ll be okay with him. I have NO IDEA how you were so strong during this time. I keep coming back to this video because your strength (I mean moving to another country, at the time losing your cats, and any other private matters of course) gives me the strength to believe that I’ll be okay too. I had to move to different part of the country when my marriage ended. We had 2 dogs together and they both stayed with my partner. It was hard but wouldn’t have been fair to the dogs. At that time, I started a new job and traveled for work. I was on the road 6 days a week and honestly I traveled so much I didn’t even see the point of renting or buying a place when I was “home” I was in a hotel. I’m in a different career now and have a place, which gave me time to adopt the sweetest dog and eventually my cat too. It sucked at first. It will get better. Do what’s best for your kitties and in time you will know what’s best for you. You have countless fans that support you and we all want what’s best for you. 🖤

Hey Sharla, been watching your videos for a while. I just wanted to send you my support for what you’re going through. I too got a divorce from my husband at 30 who id been with for 13 years, married for 6. We were best friends and I still loved him in many ways but our lives were moving in different directions and sometimes you’re so used to a particular dynamic with a person that it’s hard to work through the issues and find a compromise, no matter how much you love each other. I changed so much between my 20’s and 30’s and we just weren’t right anymore for the long term - thinking about things like starting a family etc. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made and I was so sad for a very long time but having come out the other side now, I know it was the right decision and I’m happier with my life now than I’ve ever been. I know that I’m now with the right person for my future and would not change anything for the world. Hoping that you come out the other side and feel the same way.

I personally love the idea of seeing more of Northern Japan! Take care be strong we all love you Sharla!

Sharla, I believe the way you deal with the situation by setting yourself goals and things to look forward to are the best things to do to overcome this kind of situation. Keep as much as you can your positive attitude. While it's not the same situation, I've been through a difficult time last December with the loss of my mother and for me looking forward and not in the past is the thing that helped me stay heathy, so I wish it works for you too. Do not however feel guilty. Just be yourself and share the content you want to, when you want to. We're looking forward to your next vlog/videos :). I've been through separation/divorce myself in my 20's and it was brutal but take this time to reflect on the most important thing and that is You and your self care. I am so sorry you are going through this. I know everyone's experiences are different but your post really resonated with me. I am currently going through a divorce. Even though it was my choice to end the relationship, it doesn't stop it from being incredibly hard or feeling the heavy loss of someone who has been there everyday for me, at times we were incredibly strong together. My decision was mostly based around my career, discovering that we had slightly different priorities just made me realise it wasn't fair on either of us to be together - one of us would always be unhappy. Found it a very difficult decision to make in my mid 30s when most of my friends are starting families. I did leave the relationship with my cat, but as I work in a different location to my 'home', she is unable to live with me. I know she is very happy where she is, but when I go back to my hometown I just spend so much time annoying her, giving her massive hugs and strokes! At the time of my separation a very wise and respected friend said to me that it would take about 2 years to move on... I was actually initially quite horrified and dreading what was to come, but now 15 months after the decision to separate was made, I do understand what she meant. It's not just about the official side of such a process, its about the personal journey. You will find out so much about yourself and how strong you really are. It's not really about independence or being selfish, its about being true to yourself and the people you choose to spend life with and being kind to both! Sorry if that sounds really corny. It was obvious how much you loved Maro and Luna, i know that you made the best decision for them at the moment, but hopefully someday you can be reunited. We all have our struggles, I know how difficult it must be to put this out in the public, but take the space you need to heal.

If I'm completely honest, I actually ... stopped following your channel when you moved to Korea. Not to be mean or anything, but I initially followed you for content about Japan as I love the country dearly myself. I like Korea well enough, but in an attempt to de-clutter channels I ended up unsubscribing because Korea isn't my focus in life. Even though you're back in Japan now, it's actually really painful to see you this sad :( things must've been really tough for you and I can't imagine how hard it's been. I know this video is a year old, but I hope you have found peace and healed with the way your life unfolded. I know how difficult it is to separate from a long term partner as well as having to be realistic and selfless in knowing what it is best for your fur children. One of my cats, Felix, was adopted by my best friends family around six years ago, and originally my plan was to get him back when I had a stable place of living, but life took me so many places in between that I realized he was in the best care he could be in. If he needed veterinary care (he is a senior now), he would have it with the family he is with now. It got to the point it felt wrong to suddenly want to take him away from that; so I said my good byes in knowing that while he may not be my cat anymore, he was with a family who loved him just as much as I do and will give him everything he deserves and more. I hope your heart is healed or healing. 💕

Oh Sharla I am so sorry to hear your current situation, my parents were divorced when I was young too, right now I live with my mum, I can see she is sad for a period of time, but as time goes things kind of worked out for me and my parents, I am glad both are happy now in their own ways, I see my dad alot and as long as both are happy in their own life , that's all matters, now I am in my teen, I honestly begin to understand the whole situation, there are no bitterness between us and I want my parents to be happy in whatever ways they want as I am happy for them too, kids cannot be selfish at all , be happy Sharla and I hope you continue to find happiness and get well :)

Hugs. This is definitely a tough situation. I think since both of you were unhappy, it takes a lot more courage to find happiness elsewhere, than to be comfortable in a situation that is familiar. But you suddenly looked relieved and bright when you started talking about Morioka, I think you made the right decision. Love is a complicated thing. You can love someone very dearly, want the best for them, and know they return those feelings, but you both can still understand that your lives can not work together, no matter how much you want it to. My parents' marriage ended in this way, and it was hard on all of us, but life does move on, not that you will never have times when you're sad, but that you can come to a place of resolve. Eventually happiness finds you again. It may not be the way you expect, but if you acknowledge all of your feelings, and talk things out with someone you trust (whether it be a friend, therapist, or any other neutral party), life will be good again. Though you will see things in a way you could have never done so before. I know this is a year late, but I hope you can already see some of these things coming true for you. From my own experience, I can say, it is very important to take care of yourself. So take care. With love from the US.
