Today at Alf's Mustang Garage, we prime the oiling system again. This time after the rockers have been installed and adjusted. And today, we have the perfect example as to why this is an absolute must do when rebuilding an engine.
The book I recommend you buy for your build. You will not get all the information there is to know from watching these videos. This book will help guide you through everything. www.npdlink.com/product/book-...

Customer service is good with Petronix as well, I bought a new set of 8mm wires and 3 of them had no ohms reading, ( like you did with oil, I did with a meter) I called them and the guy in there customer service mailed me a new box of 8 ( I was asking for 3 to replace the dead ones) this was great for me because now I have 5 extra for any future needs.

WOW, with finding a defective part, one out of a million and while filming too, maybe you should go buy a few lotto tickets. Great advice on priming the engine.

Thank you! I hope its one in a million. Hopefully its not very common, but just for good times sake, I may take my chances on the lotto!

Good Catch Alex. This is a "prime" example of why you/we check this stuff. Pun intended. I knew a guy that checked his new engine rebuild priming the system and he did not get any oil to driver's side bank of rockers etc. Found out he had a plugged oil passage! That is why you have to check this stuff. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely! Very nice strategically placed pun! 🤣

Thanks. I do this if my car has not been started for 6 mpnths or more before I start the car again. This way I help to prevent dry starts and wear on the engine. It might be a bit over the top but it gives me peace of mind on start up.

Its definitely not a bad thing. We do that too on cars that have been sitting for an extended period of time.

If You don't rotate the engine while priming the oil won't go through the entire engine... Also if you prime too much it will wash away the sticky lube that was applied to the bearings

Super disappointing about that level of quality. Good thing your checking this. I have an FE to prime soon.

Alex...I can't seem to locate videos 19 and 20. What would they contain?
@AlfsMustangGarage

Video 19 is the intake manifold installation. Video 20 is the valve covers. You can't find them because I haven't made them yet. They will be coming out soon.

Question: How much can one expect to pay for an engine rebuild? What components should be changed out with an engine rebuild? What state are you in?
@AlfsMustangGarage
@AlfsMustangGarage Год назад
Too many variables to provide accurate quotes and assessments of parts. Expect to pay between $5K-$10K based on what you want.
