Hello Mike, my friend! Thanks a lot for sharing the interesting story, how you have become a pipe smoker...I didn`t know that before! And I completely agree on your thoughts about the reasons for pipe smoking ... the ritual thing, the advantages compared to every other way of smoking ... and what I really appreciate in pipe smoking is, that it is not a question of money....so...you CAN spend a lot of money (like we both do...LOL)...but you really don`t HAVE to ... and (quite opposite to cigar smoking) everyone can afford even the most pricy tobacco from time to time...because the prices of the cheapest and the most expensive tobaccos just differ about a hundred percent ... but the prices of the cheapest and the most expensive cigars differ several thousand percent... so...pipe smoking is some kind of "leveling" people with different income, to take part in the hobby as equals... Thanks for sharing, my friend! And take care! Mark
+Bremen Pipe Smoker Hello Mark! Thanks for watching my friend. Yes, that is very true about the cost of cigars and pipe tobacco. There is something out there for everyone who wants to smoke a pipe. You can smoke a corn cob pipe and enjoy it as much as a fine briar pipe! Be well Mark!!
My Grandfather smoked pipes. I remember the scents to this day. Now that I am 68 I have started smoking a pipe as well. I want my Grandkids to have the same memory of me.
All your inputs about pipe smoking are exactly why I had been smoking a pipe . I started in 1974 in Wales , and at that time , there were few info , except for some small booklets from the big blenders . Had enjoyed it ever since. Great video. Just got a new Comoy’s pebble grain Prince 337 today . I will dedicate it to English blends . Cheers and all the best wishes to you.
I agree with you about pipes being art. I get excited about new pipes too. I love pipes. My earliest memory about pipes is, my dads buddy smoked one. And I loved going to his house because I loved the way it smelled. Because of him and my grandfather, I became very fascinated with pipes from an early age. My grandfather never really smoked around me. But he did give me all his pipes. But anyway, you're right, each pipe is a work of art and it's a great hobby to be part of.
Hey Briar. Just wanted to thank you! Im a newer piper and wanted to let you know that your channel has helped me find a lot of great products! Thank you and best of health brother, I wish you the best!
I remember the tobacco shop in our local mall back in the 80s. I would go in there to look at the diecast models, and knives etc. but I was really interested in just smelling the sweet tobacco. Like most it disappeared in the early 90s when it became clear smoking was "bad" for your health. Nice story. Thanks for sharing.
I loved this story of your pipe smoking love. I started about 12 years ago with a CAO meerschaum ventilated skull pipe from Thompson Cigars. I put Half and Half in it. I still have the pipe. Nicely yellow stained. I just bought my first brier. A Nording, a beautiful pipe. I hope I don't screw it up breaking it in. I think I will use Half and Half again. Thanks again. The discription of my new pipe from Smoking Pipes....Danish Estates: Nording Brown Grain Smooth Freehand (3) (Unsmoked)
Many similarities to how I got started. I, too, have a bunch of cigars in two humidors- but I am having troubles keeping the humidity right- so I should probably burn a couple. Thanks for sharing.
+PipeLeisure Thank you my friend. I was wondering why I never see a video from you in my feed? I thought I was subbed to you, I was almost certain, but when I checked it said I wasn't! Oh the Horror LOL!! Well, I am now so you'll be reading my comments soon! Take care, and thanks for watching!
+Smokin' Briar thanks for subbing Mike, that's weird I didn't get an email telling me that you subbed my channel, sometimes I get emails from RU-vid sometimes not.
I absolutely get what you are saying about cigars, I bounce between them and pipes through my normal week. I like cigars for the simplicity, but that doesn't mean I don't have a pipe pouch loaded up with everything you can think of. Thanks for the vid.
What an amazing video our stories of how we started smoking pipes and still do is very close I want bore you with mine but thank you. and your not rambling your sharing thoughtful memories we all have.
Great job brother.. I really appreciate this video... I second that.. For me it was my grandfather.... You name it he smoked it just about any way you can.. Just wanted to say thanks... By the way the lighter that you are using what kind is it and do you recommend one?.. 👍👍👍
Yup...plenty of grandfathers have been our mentors. The lighter is a Xikar pipe lighter and I highly recommend them. Buy it once and you're set for life!
+Smokin' Briar ahhhaa thank you very much just got your other message my phone is pretty slow thank you so much for the information I'm definitely going to pick myself up one of them my other lighter is crapping out on me I really appreciate your channel your input and your videos thank you again
My buddy at the firehouse always gets a kick when I break my pipe out and light it up because it reminds him of his grandfather "Slugger". He told me the story of one time his grandfather went up on a roof with the hose to fight the fire, pipe in mouth, and the pipe went out so he stopped lit the pipe and went back to putting the fire out. We were just talking about the tobacco shops in the malls from when we were kids too. Man I wish there were still around. Great video brother!
I really like that Savinelli 673. I have enjoyed looking at Matches860 now you have one too. Maybe I will get one? The lucite stem, it's color with the bulldog dark bowl. What city was the pipe store in. Thanks for the videos!
The problem with listening to many pipe smokers is that they say a few words and then stop for easily double the time it took them to say those few words. Very annoying.
