Why I still use the 2013 Macbook pro in 2020 

People need to get over the keyboard. Thousands of laptops out there. Let it go.

I also LOVED the keyboard..its NOT working properly... AND the track pad is NOT reacting AT ALL...is this repairable?

@@SubterraneanChick for some of us its easier to continue using Apple products because A) all the rest of our electronics are also Apple and so connectivity is key and B) Macbooks today are extremely overpriced and buying a 2013 one and just upgrading it yourself is much cheaper. $1,000-$1,500 to have a max upgraded Late 2013 16 inch Macbook Pro vs $2,000+ for the same size screen but "newer" edition of Macbook. Also keep in mind some people simply dont understand how to use Windows computers because maybe they were trained or learned on Macbooks their whole lives. For me at least every class ive had when i was a kid in school from 7th to 12th all used Macbooks and Ipads. Only Windows computers were those little chromebooks they gave every upperclassmen but we already had ipads so really was no point. Even at my jobs now neither of them use anything but Apple products from the POS system to our main service computer in the back room, to the storage Ipad on the sales floor.

Can we connect hdmi for the monitor (an adaptater) ?

It will be not.. i read that os x of 2022 is no longer compatible with macbook 2013 and older.

i always used my 2019 for editing and stuff. but for writing essays I always go back to my 2013.

Yup. They don’t make them like they used to. Hence the video you saw. Its telling when a content creator prefers an old Mac over a brand new one.

@Nathan T In the end I chose the Mac Book. Personally I don't regret it, even though I can understand the advantages of ThinkPad (with Linux). I think MacOS is a kind of mixture of Windows and Linux and I like that very much. Of course I often get stupid comments, because many people have something against Apple, but I don't regret anything! By the way, MacOS seems to be quite sensitive when it comes to security, because for many programs permissions have to be approved in the settings first. This is a good thing, but can be annoying sometimes, especially when developing. My opinion: MacOS for everyday work (also for programming & designing) Windows for Gaming Linux for job if you are experienced (Because it is just so powerful and customizable)

I just bought one today with a good configuration (i7 2.6ghz, 16gb ram, 512 gb ssd, gt750m) for 600€, seems fine to me comparing to other models that sell for much higher

If you are in the US, check eBay. For a 2013 15 try and maybe find one around $300-$550 range. For longer support though maybe go after a 2015 15in, because I got mine for $450 and it's the 2.5GHZ, 16GB Ram, R9 M370x, and 512TB storage. (Ebay bids and I put in a 1TB SSD instead) Also 2015 15in come standard with 16gb of ram.

Unfortunately, yup! The last repairable and upgradeable MBP they came out with was in mid 2012! Pre Retina A1278 but still my daily driver and it runs Catalina. Graphics are old school on this one but the build quality speaks for itself. Apple will never build another laptop that can be made future proof - they’d lose money.

Yeah it's still great, but that's definitely too expensive.

Expensive for something that should have at least a 1TB SSD and the latest version of OSX. If you’re gonna spend that much, it should be completely upgraded.

That’s the entire point of a quad core processor and dual graphics! You’d want to get one to edit videos and play games.

Apple doesn’t like it the old machines can be renewed and they can still run newer versions of OSX! Why upgrade and pay thousands and when you can get the same performance for a fraction of the cost? It will take a lot to persuade people on to jump on the M bandwagon because Apple left its users high and dry before when it abandoned the PowerPC for no good reason.

I think that's the version where they got butterfly switches but it was the last one with ports. It even is very close to 2016 even 2017 sometimes in performance.
