When I discovered my diabetes last March 2022 and before diagnose, my body weight went down I felt like a kite due to severe weight loss. Thank God because of my recovery after 4 months in battle with diabetes. Self discipline is important most particular on the food we intake. Everything must be in control.

Thank you for making this insightful video! Those stats are really alarming 😱. Loved your tips for balancing your blood sugar, esp when having dessert. Your videos and content have helped me make more intentional choices for myself and my family, and now I often hear your voice in my head reminding me to pair carbs w/ a healthy fat & protein when prepping meals and to exercise 😆 Keep it up! ❤️

I only recently came accross your channel but love your testing videos. So interesting to see how different foods and combinations respond. It is interesting the standard fasting glucose and A1c were normal. For the glucose test, was there an Abnormal glucose response as well as an abnormal insulin response? Most doctors seam reluctant to test insulin during the glucose challenge test so I'm curious how your resutls went personally beyond the insulllin was significantly elevated (if anything) Thank you for sharing your story as well as in the comments your HOMA-IR is counted as "very sensitive", a lot of people seam to treat that as a be all or end all and maybe it is for some but clearly not all.

Hi! Yes, my glucose response and insulin response were both elevated after my glucose test and insulin test. After all my experience with lab work etc, I truly feel that the glucose test + insulin test is the only way to really know whether or not you are insulin resistant/prediabetic/diabetic. A1c, fasting glucose, even fasting insulin results vary too greatly depending on so many factors like what you ate the night before, how much sleep you got etc etc. I’ve had my A1c, fasting glucose, and fasting insulin all be in both the normal range and abnormal range and back to normal range even with little to no intervention. But the glucose + insulin test showed exactly what my body was doing in real time. Such invaluable data. Thanks so much for watching!

Recently found your content-I’m in a similar situation-was borderline gestational diabetes with my 2nd pregnancy despite active lifestyle, healthy BMI, and fairly healthy eating. I believe I’ve had insulin resistance but not technically prediabetes ever since that 2nd pregnancy. New symptoms recently made me get a glucometer and I seem to be squarely in prediabetes territory. I wish I had started low carb and gotten a glucometer after the birth of my second child. Now consistently doing IF and low carb and hoping to turn things around. Your content is great! I love that you key in on making this a sustainable lifestyle by not overly restricting.

I so feel you on this! I wish my doctors had warned me after my 1st GD pregnancy that I need to be more mindful about what I was eating moving forward, but everyone said that I can go back to eating whatever I wanted, which I definitely did for probably a year after my 1st pregnancy, because I felt so deprived with GD during pregnancy. It wasn't until my second GD pregnancy did I read about how having GD increases your risk of type 2 diabetes by more than 50%! Oops... oh well. It sounds like we're both doing the best that we can now for our health, and that's what matters. I tried doing keto and very low carb for about 2 years, and it was not good for me, which is why I'm trying a more moderate approach now. Thanks so much for watching! We are on this journey together!

Hi!! Ive beed getting headaches almost daily and suspect this might be behind it. Ive been eating more balanced but still struggling. How long does it typically take to reverse or recover from prediabetes?

Hi! I get headaches too when my blood sugar is high :( I think it really depends from person to person how long it takes to reverse prediabetes. It depends on what your A1c is now and how strictly you are sticking to a blood sugar friendly diet. I personally don’t think it’s important to focus on how quickly you can get to your goal versus whether you’re making steps, no matter how big or small, and making progress! How can I know if I’m insulin resistant through a cgm or regular blood glucose monitor?

I'd start with a regular blood glucose monitor since those are much more affordable than a CGM, and start checking your fasting numbers in the morning. It is typical for fasting numbers to start rising first if you are insulin resistant. Anything under 100 mg/dl is considered "normal" in the US, but if your fasting numbers are consistently in the 90's, it might be a sign that your body is becoming more insulin resistant. You can also start checking your blood sugar 2 hours after your meals. Again, "normal" in the US is less than 140 mg/dl after meals, but I find that to be a little too loose. If you're seeing numbers that high 2 hours after eating, you are probably leaning towards insulin resistance. This is by no means a comprehensive way of finding out if you're insulin resistant but it's a good place to start! Hope that's helpful.

@@thegoodenoughmama Fasting glucose is not a good indicator, mine is 82 but fasting insulin shows that my pancreas needs to work a lot harder to manage my glucose. That right there is an indicator that you're headed towards diabetes. Max. safe number acording to the lab was 18, and i had 30.

@@Fucklesticks Thanks for sharing this info! Mine was the opposite. My fasting insulin has been between 4-11 even though my fastings are elevated (mid to high 90's). So the takeaway is that there is no one true indicator to insulin resistance/diabetes. I think if you do have elevated fastings though, it's a pretty clear sign that something is off with your metabolic function.

By Checking fasting insulin levels.... If it more than 4, you might be insulin resistant. Weight gain on the belly area could be a sign of insulin resistance..
