@@DTOXTV No. The HUD changed and they added a map and 2 animals which would be cool if they functioned. Starmap is better, everything else sucks ass. AI don't do shit still and they ruined the joystick functionality somehow(for me). The only thing that matters is server-meshing and its FAR from working.

I floated the question, "What do you think of Star Citizen?" at my gaming table and one guy in the group gave me such a visceral negative response that it made me wonder where Star Citizen had touched him as a child. Personally, as someone who is completely a spectator at this point, I think SC is going to be probably the best video game ever created. The sheer amount of detail, the amount of actual engineering encompassed within the ships, and the proposed level of expansion, I have no idea how anyone will ever be able to top it. The only thing in my imagination that compares is The Oasis from Ready Player One.

To be honest it kinda feels like it already when you play the game. Despite the bugs and everything, as soon as you start engaging with other players and having litteraly entire stories happen out of nowhere, it feels the closest to a metaverse than anything else I've played. And when we will get things like base building, it's gonna feel even more like it.

I'm curious, I've never watched Shroud, but maybe he is a more console type player where for the most post things just work. PC Gamers are a different breed, not as much now compared to 20 to 40 years ago. Gamers who play on PCs know things won't always be perfect. Especially when betas were free to test. Yes, Summit seems to be enjoying the game. I watched his stream for a bit and his viewers were pretty civil also.

You likely didn't kill the corsair guy because you were shooting into the shields of his ship. You need to be inside the shields to damage the player.

Mainstream kiddies will hate this game. - No patience. - No bug tolerance. - No problem-solving skills cause never required to learn. - No "quick-join" feature (unless you play AC). - Have to learn stuff. - Puts depth over accessibility. - Doesn't hold your hand. - No daily quests or battle passes. ..... When you watch videos on the channels that criticize this game about discovering new games, they will always judge them within the first 5 minutes based on how easily they were able to get kills.

Literally this. It doesn't matter if you're a relative "nobody" on the internet or a relatively or very known streamer or content creator, you either got the resilience and patience and interest for this game still being in (often messy and buggy) development or you don't. And for us 'veterans' it has usually (can't speak for all!) little to do with "brainwashing" - we know how hard the game can be to get into or stay engaged to. But if you wanted a quick content grabber because the hype on the game increased due to a new patch, trailer, etc but then can't handle it as you might be spoiled a tad by non-early access games or so, you are free to be disappointed. But either deal with it, tackle the learning curve and tips and tricks to improve the experience - or move on and try later or never again. Assuming it won't end up in sudden total failure but actually deliver a bulk of core features later on and be a relatively issue-free experience, we all know who'll come crawling back though to get that juicy or then juicier content.

This....ALL of this....I've been trying to get some Overwatch players into SC but it's like they just go brain dead when they have to process things. I tell them to treat literally everything like you would IRL but they struggle to read the damn signs and make their way towards a hangar. It's frustrating but once things clean up a bit, it'll be alot easier to hold their hands....

I could be wrong but i think you were hitting the corsairs shields when you shot at the player coming out. It shows the hitmarkers because you technically are hitting a target. Great video!

Everyone? one or two "big" streamers dip their toes in and one seems to enjoy it for the most part.. Other than that.. what has actually changed? Shroud tried and said "ask me again when this gets stable".. Overall, the average COD/PUBG player really has no business being in SC, the FPS gameplay will never be a match and in general the game is way to slow for these "jump around everywhere" kind of players.

08:15 The shields of the ship reduced the damage you provided, its a really good strategy if you have an open cargo bay or something like that in your ship, to shoot whoever is ouside from it, since you're into a BIG advantage.

Yup, fly somewhere like Astors Clearing and they're all over the area. Best way to find them is look for the downward grey chevrons in groups while flying a few klicks above the surface.

All I can say is after six years of playing SC reminds me more of my relationship with my abusive ex wife than a game. She lied all the time about when she would get shi^ done and took my money and gave me nothing in return as well. Its just a hot mess. And I believe Thor over at Pirate Software said it best a few months ago when he stated the only content they seem really driven to deliver is whats going in the store. Spending 20 minutes in a time sink just to get to your ship and kit it out only to have the server 30k is just not acceptable in todays market. I use to love SC. After the last patch even setting up some new keybinds seemed like too much of an investment for the return you wont get.

This is one of those questions that results in an annoying answer like: it depends. You need a SSD; SC hates spinning platters. You also need a CPU that supports the AVX instruction set. 16gb of memory would be the barest of minimums, but 32gb would result in a better experience. I have 64gb of ram, and SC routinely uses close to 30gb. I am playing on a system based around a Haswell Xeon that has been OC'd to 4.1ghz, and a budget RX 580 2048SP GPU (with lots of graphics settings turned way down. FSR enabled). This results in an ok gaming experience for me. 50fps in space, 25-32 fps on planets.

Until recently I ran for years on a system I put together in 2016 with an AMD FX8350. Tenpoundfortytwo is the go to for SC hardware performance info. But minimum seems to be... SSD Quad core CPU 16G ram GTX 1060 And a decent internet service. It relies heavily on the ability to stream info into your puter.

SC with all of its features provides the freedom to do whatever you want. There is organic game on the fly mixed with WTF moments that make you think to solve a problems. To date I have not seen any other game that provides this. Most games are either limited in what you can do or scripted game play that makes you go in one direction it does not let you decide.

Shroud is right. I would never support an alpha software that has such a gross monetization scheme. The only kind of monetization I accept in a game I am playing, is cosmetics only. And only once the game is no longer in alpha or beta or early access, but "gone gold" as they used to say back in the day.

Ngl love the game but most of my friends whove tried during freefly just get sick of how many features look added but arent. Like food makers, suit closets, some keybinds (like holding your helmet) say they work but dont. Theyre fine with most of the stuff but really CIG needs to add some of this stuff (it doesnt take much work to make a drink dispenser work they already have one on the 300 series.

its probably because the game is finally becoming a game. Been playing it for like 8 years now, I don't blame people for waiting until now to get in. I still encourage anyone who asks me about if its good to play now. I tell them it is but they should wait for 4.0 to take the plunge The PROMISE of star citizen is amazing and those of us who've been around awhile have seen the massive strides they've made, but its not there yet. Its not ready for the bulk of people. If server meshing goes in, we get pyro and all of these persistent hangar and cargo refactors.. we might just get it there.

FYI in lieu of throttle, you typicallly use shift+mouse scroll wheel to adjust throttle input. Thats normally what you need to do for ground vehicles so you can control them.

because its got the potential to be one of the best games ever created , but its taking so long to develop and the marketing around the ships at $1k up to $100k microtransactions are quite frankly insane

It makes you wonder, if they were much cheaper, would they sell more ships? Which would ruin a lot more players reason to play. Not sure where the balance would be, considering the microtransactions are what is funding this project. Unlike corpo investors, and we can see how that is going. Who would have ever thought Pong would become so advanced and popular it would make investors wealthy.

The thing about "emergent gameplay" is that CIG has utterly failed to incentivise it in any way, when it would be a joke to do so. For example: disable buying fuel at landing pads--now SUDDENLY everyone will be willing to pay for players to fly out and refuel them, players will start flying starfarers and harvesting fuel from crusader--there will be extortion, piracy, and trading of fuel all originating from players. Simple example. The only time there was ever naturally "emergent" gameplay was when a bug made the original jumptown ultra-lucrative and players found it on their own and started exploiting it, now CIG has made it into a curated event and it is no longer emergent. They are TERRIBLE at creating incentives for the playerbase to work towards a goal without defaulting to shitty railroading.

A combination of free fly week, Tarkov and some other games losing a lot of players very quickly, and a rising confidence in the project and quality of update. None of this means that CIG is above criticism, they do often need it in fact, and there are certainly several things I think they should take off the storefront, but even for all there’s left to do, you don’t make as much game (and spend the money paying so many developers and getting a proper studio for them to work in) as has been made by being either a scam or incompetent. I am excited, and critical. I am hopeful, and critical.

While I like the attention some of these "Big Name Streamers" are bringing to Star Citizen, I do not like feeling that they are Johnny Come Latelies that are infringing on all the hard hours put in by actual Star Citizen content creators over many years.

Maybe they just weren’t very interesting to keep a massive fan base around? Maybe it’s because SC content gets super dry once you realize you’re just repeating the same stupid mundane tasks no matter what system you’re in, and the ones that still make content now focused more towards “news and updates” or the good ol clickbait titles for speculative jpeg info or they start doing a variety stream where they have to play other games because they run out of “new” ideas for videos

I have a love/hate relationship with this game and am an original backer. I play it in wave until the bug frustration and I promise not to play. It's like an itch because I'll come back to play and buy more ships. There is nothing like this game, only x4 has come close.

Oh I actually got baited by the title. I was hoping for some in-depth explanation as to why the game was gaining popularity. It's just because Summit tried it. I backed the game in 2014 and would love to see my $60 investment actually pay off sometime in the next decade. But I'm not going to touch the bug-riddled mess of an alpha. I will wait until beta, if that ever actually happens.

Are there any tips for getting into better servers? Because my game experience has been absolutely horrible. I'm talking ONLY game-breaking bugs that I cannot seem to shake. I've reset my character two times, but each time it did not work fully, I've reinstalled my game; I just don't know what to do. I see all of these streamers and all of these RU-vid videos of playing the game, and theirs just seems to work. It seems like they can have that wonderful experience with that emergent gameplay, but every single server I've been on has horrible server fps, and every time I've tried to have fun with the game it just stone-walls me. Currently, I can't have fun with the game because every single time I use the ship retrieval terminal, ALL of my ships have to be claimed. Every single time, even if they were out and about, it doesn't matter. It feels like the game doesn't want me to play it is what I'm saying. So I'm wondering if there's something I can do to make it feel like it wants me to play it, because in my current state, it's hard to feel like I could ever like this game when I want it to be the opposite.

Info might help. Cuz you wrote a lot of nothing in here bro xd. Your specs, your issues. But the game is buggy as hell even on a good rig, that's why it's an alpha test. And it will likely remain like this for at least 2-3years

@Bankai90 AMD Ryzen 7 3700x CPU, AMD Radeon 6800 GPU, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, game's installed on an M.2. Specs don't matter, higher specs aren't going to stop bugs. People shouldn't expect a game with now 700 million dollars to "be buggy for years to come," and we shouldn't allow a game that isn't even finished yet to have such invasive monetization practices.

@@Storm_Dev xD. It's a game. Stop worrying about other ppls spending. Ppl lose their entire heritage and likelyhood in casinos even in your city. Noone forces you to pay or play. The game is a hot mess and will be for another 3-4years when it comes to basic bugs. And prob need 15-20+ years to be fully fledged out. If ppl wanna support it let them support why u care xD. Even in it's current buggy state it's the most impressive thing we've seen online uptodate. And they don't seem to drop the project anytime soon Also your cpu is a bottleneck here and likely preventing you to go past 40fps

@Bankai90 You clearly don't understand what I'm trying to say. I'm not telling what people to spend their money on, they can do whatever they want, and if they have fun with the game, whatever. That's not my point. I'm saying that things like this makes people's expectations so low that it allows companies to take advantage of them easily. It's stuff like that that has made the games industry get worse and worse over time. The, "it's just a game," argument never works. The Day Before was "just a game," are we supposed to just pretend like it's not there then? And I don't know if you think you know that much about computer specs. I get 70+ frames most of the time, I don't know what you're talking about 40 for. Regardless, maybe if they had a bigger focus on squashing bugs and optimization before they started feature creeping so much, you wouldn't need an ungodly rig just to run it.

@@Storm_Dev but you do not need an ungodly rig to run it. I ain't even trying to defend the game xD. But you just don't. You do need tho 32gb of ram. Which is cheap. And you need a good cpu which does cost around 350. You can get a 3060 for 200 and you're literally set. You can play this game for 15h without a single loading screen in an mmo lol The most used gpu from steam users is already a 3060. In 2 years most ppl will have a cpu than can run this game at ease. I simply wouldn't expect this game to get much better under 5-6years. It's an alpha. It's literally a ground stone for the future. If someone fails to see that and pays 500bucks or thousands for ships you can easily get ing than that's on them. You've gachas, black desert and stuff like lost ark or Diablo immortal where some whales throwout over 10k a month on it xD. Ppl will spend either way. SC made over 3mil just on 25th May lool (And no I'm not a backer. I haven't even paid for the base things)
