Why Is Water Tank Overflowing?

This customer called and said her fresh water tank was overflowing. There is only one thing that can cause this issue. The RV is hooked to the city water connection and water is bypassing the Shurflo water pump and filling the fresh water tank. I don’t keep Shurflo pumps on the truck anymore. I only keep a FloJet. I have my reasons for this. Watch to find out why.

Throw puppy pads under whatever water fixture your working on, cheap easy clean up if there's no way around some leaking 😉

Nice to find out that waterpumps have check valves, I thought they might but wasn't sure. I like my milwaukee tools also, although that vacume is a bit of a battery hog

I always use the 5 mah battery in the high draw items. Saws and vacuum.

Just a question, if the pump was still pumping water correctly why not just add a check valve into the system to stop the backflow into the freash water tank?

The pump IS technically the check valve . So even though the pump may still pump its already a malfunctioning pump. So it's best to just replace it. That's my 2 cents.

Where would I find a 1/2 inch check valve with pex fittings on both sides? I already have a water pump on the truck.

I was checking for another water pump and found one for 1/2 of what you paid from Ebay Shurflo at $70. Same info as my pump. Thanks for your how to.

I know there's a check valve in these pumps but I've had at least 10 of them apart and never seen it. It's a mystery to me! I don't like using the same wet-vac for both debris and moisture because the tank starts mildewing unless you open it up and dry everything out between uses. If you don't, it spews out moldy air next time you use it.

Regular use of the water pump (exercising it while on city water) keeps that check valve from locking up and causing the check valve to fail. When we’re on full hookups for a long period of time, we make a point of switching over to the water pump a few times a month. Also, hard water will cause buildup in that check valve, thats why we use a water softner all the time. That water pump is in horrible place!!!

Hey Hillbilly Where can I get new rubber seals for the white 1/2 inch water lines for my rv water pump? Or do I need to replace the lines?

Flare-it fittings? You should be able the get new gaskets from any RV dealer that sells flare-it fittings or probably Amazon.

How do you know what water pump to buy? Are they the same? Or is there a model# and where's it at? Thanks

Probably 90% are the same size. 3.2 gallon per minute. FloJet is a better deal right now.

If the water pump was still working, other than not working as a check valve anymore and letting water through to the fresh tank, couldn't you just add a check valve (e.g., Valterra or Sharkbite) to the outflow side of the pump rather than replacing the pump?

Check valves are so crappy they only last a year I finally put a check valve in the line another thing the manufacturer show do but once they sell it to you they don’t give a f-ck
