Idk, most of my schools from elementary to middle school (homeschooled for high school) were very much against water bottles. It'd get taken, and treated like you brought food to class. Water bottles, like metal ones, were given back at the end of the day, like a confiscated phone.

Nah my whole school district doesn't like water bottles. The sport ones can apparently hold alcohol (like a 10 year old is drinking...), and disposable plastic ones can have test cheats on the labels. Sometimes they wouldnt even allow it if you took the label off, cuz vodka and water are both clear. Nevermind that you'd be able to smell the alcohol. Honestly it was fucking idiotic. What a wonderful way to dehydrate kids. In middle school the lack of water/liquids (I'm lactose intolerant so no milk either, which is what is offered at lunch or breakfast) in general lead to a really bad constipation problem for me. I was cramping so bad so often that I went to the doctor and they x-rayed me and went like "Uh yeah idk how to tell you this but you're quite literally full of shit." And I was put on some extra strength laxitaves or smth and told to make sure I'm drinking a LOT more water. I believe I also got a doctors note basically telling the school "Please let the damn kid bring a water bottle so they don't have to get shit surgically removed from their bowels." Anyway. Interesting time. Moral is to let kids and teens drink water if they want to, for fucks sake.

Not all schools allow it. I went to a lot of different schools due to moving around as a kid, different districts and all, and I think there was like one or two that allowed water bottles, plastic or like store bought metal reusable. I know my middle schools, I went to two, both forbade water bottles entirely. Usually they were confiscated if they were reusable, and thrown away if they were plastic. Given back at end of the day for the former. I got dehydration migraines a lot, because of that and the lack of bathroom opportunities.
