I think part of the thing that is so freaky about these types of companies (in addition to the terrible content made mostly for children) is how huge the companies are despite them being operations we have never heard of. Like I’m not freaked out by the number of watch hours Buzzfeed have because I know them and there feels like some level of accountability exists (now it can be debated if this accountability actually exists, but there is the feeling of accountability) . But companies like Soul are so invisible because they largely hide behind their channel names, that it is hard to feel like you even know when you might be manipulated by one of them.

I used the watch bright side when I was younger, I had unsupervised access to the internet and back then I was almost crazily obsessed with death and morbid topics. I would actively seek out traumatic true crime stories, horror stories and videos similar to this- I was just harming myself more and more because videos like this would make my anxiety go insane and I was constantly anxious; making it almost impossible to sleep. I’m still a very anxious person today and tend to overthink to the worst scenarios possible, I honestly feel as if RU-vid needs to do something more about this.

I HATE bright side riddles. When I was eleven I saw a riddle video of theirs that was almost entirely about people being murdered which unfortunately triggered my mild anxiety and made it difficult for me to sleep for months afterwards. I know they can’t control who watches or their response, but I wish they would put disclaimers on videos with dark themes, Edit: I’m fourteen, thirteen when I made this comment, and the account is my father’s.

I have OCD(I’m actually diagnosed) and some of bright side’s fear tactics seem like something that could trigger a OCD worry. This can cause terrible anxiety and torture our minds. If I see a thumbnail that uses a fear mongering tactic to draw in their viewers it could set off a worry that can last for months and I would have to work with my therapist for a long time if it becomes one of my main obsessions. Clickbait titles from other channels can be triggering and make you worry about a thought you had a break from for a while. Before I was diagnosed with OCD ( and Autism) I had the same worry for around 3 years. It was terrible. I have more right now, but my thoughts were especially bad today. Also, as I stated I have autism. I saw you were on the neurodiversity board at Vidcon, because you have ADHD. I think that’s cool. Obviously channels can’t take into account every persons possible worries or issues, but I feel like clickbait titles and thumbnails can be scary for anyone, not just those with OCD. Also there’re different types of OCD. The thumbnails are meant to cause fear for anyone, it is just possible for it to resonate in individuals with OCD more. It is more likely for worry to start from only seeing the thumbnail. I haven had worries happen from this channel, but me and my friend with autism and OCD both try to stay away from clickbait, especially from animated story channels. One of the titles of a animated story you put in a thumbnail didn’t set me off. I watched the video and you explained it, making me feel a little more comfortable. I shared your channel with the friend I just mentioned and she is going to look into you content. Also, I warned her about the thumbnail of one of you videos. I just told her if you watch the video you might feel less stressed. I obviously don’t think people should change their content because of a viewers issues, this is just a problem I have with clickbait. I also know that the thumbnail of the video you made about animated story channels I was talking about is not clickbait. I don’t have any negative opinions on your channel, but that doesn’t really matter. Thanks for being the amazing RU-vidr you are. By the way I edited this because I had some grammar mistakes.
