everyone is a ghoster to the person he/she isn't interested enough :-) The only thing you can do is keep the relationship as the level you receive, and find someone else that will treat you as good as you treat them. That's it. Don't let the ghoster have the chance to be more important to you than you are to him. He's not worth it. You deserve someone that will treat you like a queen and also someone that you're willing to treat like a king!

Where is the problem to tell a person who is waiting for your response: "I am sorry, you are a nice person but I didn't feel chemistry between us, thank you for the nice date, I wish you all the best." Mireille Claire I agree with you 100%. But for some i belive sometimes something better comes along for them so they like to keep their options open. Some say they'd rather not hurt feelings. To me, its lack of communication skills or cowardice. In any of those scenarios, the person being ghosted by them are better off they left. IMO. I wrote this before watching all of the video, oops. i do that sometimes....

I met a ghost man last year and finally I’m his girl friend. The key is if he’s ghosting you , keep your confidence high and ignore him and have your life! If he’s interested in you , he will come back , no matter what ! Even after a month ghosting. I hope my advice is hopeful for u😘

online dating is all about ghosting...I've been through this so many times it doesn't even phase me anymore. The window is usually two weeks then they go ghost. It's either they are moving too fast or they ghost you. As a matter of fact, I have come to expect this and it is really sad and an absolute waste of time. I am actually ready to give up on the whole dating, finding the right man thing because I am very frustrated at the lack of respect most men give.

If I was you I would send a message and basically tell them you understand they aren't interested, but that is is rude and to be more polite to the next person. No one should ghost. It is cowardly and terrible to do so no matter the reason.

good ole' matty boggs! Love both of those reasons and the analogy at the end. And, I also think men ghost because they're confused about what they want, and they don't have the level of vulnerability necessary to be honest about this. When I was younger I ghosted this woman because I felt like I would hurt her, or lose respect if I told her about my confusion. As an adult now, I realize I did just that by not being transparent.

I really appreciate your comment. I think this can apply to men who "ghost" women and who even communicate verbally that they "aren't emotionally available for a relationship." Even though the latter is preferred...it can still cause some level of confusion by the women. Thanks again for the insight :)

We met and hung out all night (no sexy time)-- he didn't want to go home. He seemed very vulnerable and I shared some experiences as well. We even kissed! He even wanted to know when he could see me again. Then nothing. But your experience, and well as Mat's insight, helps me. And I recently came about your channel, by the way! Great stuff there too. I am 58 and been single most of my life (except for a few years of marriage); I really believe that AT THAT MOMENT IN TIME, the man really is all into the date and the person, AT THAT MOMENT. Then, once he gets home and into his daily routine, the "thrill is gone". They can be fickle, but we read them correctly at the time of the date, unless there is sex, then a man will say anything!! lol

I don't think they lack the communication skills to let us to know what the situation is. Some choose not to communicate so its easier to come back into your life; because lets be real if a man communicates that he is pursuing other options, a woman who knows her worth and value will start pursuing her other options... Sometimes it is a strategic move to keep you in limbo.

jvrbreaker I don't think it is conscious and thought out for the most part - I think it is fear of confrontation, poor communication, and emotional unavailability. Ghosting is a character flaw indicating a man who has no regards for your feelings.

I love your explanation. When I am "ghosted/left hanging" I love it. It's most likely because I thrive on efficiency and I welcome it. I don't demand closure because that's exactly what he gave me with this action. Silence speaks volumes! It was left for me to interpret. So I decided he let me off the hook. We don't mesh. We're not on the same level. He thinks the grass is greener somewhere else. He only wanted sex. I mean 👐 pick your poison! Whatever reason you want it to be or what helps you move on and no longer dwell with forcing a relationship that clearly shouldn't be. At least that is my female perspective.

I was talking to this guy at church, we were on a mission trip to Haiti. I was in the hospital with a bacteria infection while in Haiti. at the end of the trip he seemed interested. we get back home and everytime he saw me he'd check up on me,.make sure I was OK. he wanted to be near me and couldn't wait to talk to me,. we were just talking OK and 8 months later he ghosted, he came back in October and was like how are you? we go to the same church. we weren't dating we were just talking. he initiated the wanting to talk to me. I released him to the Lord!!

Matt, thank you for explaining it so clearly! It makes it so much easier to let go of someone, who ghosted you, when you know the reasons for their behavior. Like the lack of communication skills, or expecting 16 oz of love from someone who only has 4 oz. It's like you said - it is hard to screw up the right thing, and if the person can't or don't want to put same amount of effort into relationship, he is just not your person. I was once ghosted by some one who I deeply loved .. It was heart breaking and dignity smashing. I was so young to understand that it was not me but him .. It still aches till now, but when i watched your video i realized how damn wrong i was. However, few years later when we reunited, when the spark of love and passion was ignited in his heart, i did him a favor and ghosted him. It was really against my soft and beautiful nature, but he deserved it.

so... my ex broke my heart badly... asked me to marry him then chose to have sex with a friend of mine on christmas day.. i thought i won't survive it.... then some months later i found a great man... we were great together.. friday we had a talk.. he told me he loved me and won't turn his back on me and he wants a future with me... well guess what... i didn't hear from him since and yesterday i thought i should probably call him, cause maybe he's not fine.... i saw that he blocked me.... i don't know how this can be... how to treat someone like that... someone you just said you want a life with.. that he won't mess up with me cause he loves the way i am and my pure heart.... i feel so hurt

I had been in a "ghosting situation" and it was like I haven't heard from him not only for weeks but for a year. we were dating and all of a sudden he just disappeared. I felt bad. but I never lived in that sadness. after a year we bumped into each other and he explained to me what happened. I talked to him what I really felt. we started dating again and i can say he is really trying his best to cover up that long period of time we were not together...but I will be honest I still have at times that fear that one day he will disappear again even if he is saying that won't happen again.

I really think that it's so nice that you aren't punitive or shaming toward the ghoster or ghosted. People that do this really have much more going on, and don't make great partners or friends anyway. Thank you for your compassionate advice!

Ghosting is so frustrating. I didn't know it even happened because I met my husband in college in the late 90s. The first guy I dated after my divorce ghosted after 2 months. I had met his kids!!! I totally didn't see it coming and I was devastated. And he did the whole text back a few weeks later! Now I am far more cautious about letting someone into my life and if someone ghosts it is far less painful. I wish I had this explanation when this first happened to me that first time!

A Person I think it’s a similar thing but if it’s between guys or people whom are just friends it’s benching , if it’s someone that you had connected with as a “ date “ “partner “ romantic interest it’s ghosting . Actually essentially it’s the same behavior but because there are more emotions and vulnerability in the ghosting I think it is a bit heavier experience... emotionally speaking .

When I was ghosted. Never heard from him again. Lives in a different state. The second time I cut off communication options. I hate it personally. Bothe people were the highlights of my life. Now I feel unworthy for anyone. Dont ever want to date or meet anyone. They completely destroyed my heart. Both knowing I had many problems due to my husbands death from suicide and me finding him. People should really think before they act.

We live in neighboring countries. These people are so inconsiderate. They should just tell the truth and let us move on easily too. 😢

Yesssss. I was ghosted last week. I WISH I had seen this before that happened. I took it personally because he was to fly out here & was to call me back in 15-20 min after he purchased a new phone... with his flight schedule. 4 days later I get a text unrelated to wtf??? Claim he got his phone 4 days after he told me he was going in the store to purchase it... Nice try... He has kids so he has to have or borrow a phone to arrange to pick them up...he has email and he has a work phone...until he vanished, I was rearranging my schedule for him & we were to celebrate our birthdays together. (He's flown out here before)... I believe he chose to celebrate his birthday early that weekend with someone else. But still expected to fly here 2 days after he reappeared. I told him I was cool on not seeing him, that I wouldn't be picking. him up. I was hurt, (this is a on again off again 4 yr relationship) but then I had to take a step back & realize that's his nature (he's disappeared before) & I deserve better. So one day I'll meet a guy who will be & do everything this guy kept promising to me ...and more.

When men ghost, it's also because they have strong feelings for you, that if they are emotionally unavailable and immature it'll feel like uncharted territory for them and they'll disappear to either regroup, fuck around with other women or try to forget you, but if you had an emotional connection after a few months of dating without sex and when they pull away you don't run after them 9 out of 10 they'll be back better, worse or the same, at least if his interest was strong enough..update..my "friend" reached out after 10 days of silence and was even better this time around, I kept everything copacetic, but slightly pulled back, from now on I'll let him chase!

I was ghosted by a guy I was seeing very frequently for about 6 weeks. I had met some of his friends, he had met some of mine, and I felt we were already at the point of being exclusive. We had a little disagreement one day and instead of replying to my texts asking when we could talk about it, he just disappeared. I never heard from him again. I wasn't sad to lose him because I knew I didn't want that kind of person in my life, but I definitely took it personally and felt very betrayed and disrespected by someone who I thought actually cared about me. Obviously he cared more about himself, and just didn't have the skills to communicate what he wanted or didn't want. Four years later I still sometimes wonder what that was all about but I'm grateful I dodged a bullet. I've moved on and have made room in my life for much, much better! Thanks Matt for this video!

To be honest your story doesn't count as Ghosting. Except you tried reaching out, calling, texting, reaching out in one form or the other and u were sure he was getting the reaches, and yet he ignored. Plus, u didn't go into the details of what issue you guys had to settle, but let's say for example it was an issue of "pure disrespect" like you totally disrespected him to his friends/ur friends etc. OR you had some very specific characteristics to him that he never knew & he considered it a massive Red flag. But the most Important trait of Ghosting is you trying to reach out at least once or twice or thrice and No reply

Thanks Matt, it happens so often that I finally got used to be ghosted, which sounds worse than it is, since I am pretty relaxed because I know it CAN happen and it has nothing to do with me. I am dating via Tinder and I got ghosted, but at that early stage of a friendship (or whatever it is after 1 or 2 hours first meeting...) I am not expecting anything, that's why ghosting doesn't bother me, it just shows me "again a little immature boy..." and then I'm just happy getting rid of that guy so easily and have space again for the better one coming yet! :-D

I think many women (and men) are creating self-fulfilling prophecies with the words they speak. Goro, I'm not surprised that EVERY man you liked ghosted on you, you're speaking that over your life. Some time ago there was a guy I really liked who "ghosted" me as well after really showing interest in me. I was seeing a guy for about 5 weeks and really liked him, I was even taking my son to spend time with him and his kids. When he had a kid free weekend coming up we made plans to go out on a date just the two of us. I had a sitter planned for two weeks. He strung me along all day while he was working, not committing to a time he'd be ready and waited until my son was off to the sitter, (which cost me $50), and I was almost ready to leave to meet him, to tell me he was going to be getting off work too late because he needed to stay and make the money. Bummed as I was I just simply said, "ok, I understand" let him be and met up with some friends. About two hours later I discovered he was ghosting me! He even had me blocked from FB and that really stung. I noticed he did unblock me after a couple weeks, like he was leaving that door open and me as a possible option again. Well, I finally heard from him today. He wants to hang out and have some fun. You're so right though, Matt...it's him not me. Obviously, he's not capable of communicating very well and quite possibly just had better options that night. Either way, I think I should take your advice and clear the path for a man with better character that's going to be able to give more than that 4% or at least communicate. I would've been ok with it if he just wanted casual and fun instead of a committed relationship like he lead me to believe, but I don't want a vanisher with that kind of nature wasting my time like that.

Stumbled upon this video, great timing. Met a guy online a couple weeks ago, we got together for lunch, turned into the whole afternoon. The next day we went on a hike, the day after that we took a blanket to the park and fed the ducks and just enjoyed the day. We had plans for other things we were going to do, and then *poof* he's just gone. Hard to not take that personally, that stings, I still don't get it but this made me feel better just knowing at least it's not just me.

I'm being ghosted right now and I'm only 13 thanks for that video though it really helped me understand. You see I met this boy at my church choir. He immediately showed interest and a couple of casual text convos.All of a sudden he stops talking to me and I had no idea why. A couple months later he starts texting me again and asks for my snapchat the next day I get unfriended and I'm back where I was before

Hi Mathew. I met a guy at a concert and we really hit it off. We spent alot of time together the following 2 weeks after the concert. I felt a true connection with him and he claimed to had a true connection with me. He moved a few states over by the 3rd week after meeting. I never really heard from him again. ONE year later, he was back in town and asked me to go to a concert with him.... Super confused but happy all at the same time. Have not gone yet but this video helped me to understand his communication style. Thanks

Thank you for this video. A very close friend of mine was ghosted off and on for over a year. He would tell her everthing she wanted to hear. He gave a lot of empty promises. Whenever she confronted him he had some excuse or he made it seem like she was being negative. She bought it every time because she didn't want to run him away. He was really good. He'd tell her if anyone ended the relationship it wouldn't be him. Which made it easy for him to be in and out of her life. I gave her the same advice. Let him go!! He is in the way of something greater. I think she finally sees it.

I'm a female ghoster because I have PTSD and severe trust issues. Ghosting and coming back is how I communicate, like you explained it, if they don't stick around to be my friend at least. That is how I judge how accepting they will be of my anxiety disorder....
