Denshuu Cuss it's fun to play, like the guy said, you can listin to a good song over and over. It's just fun. I can relax in the morning and tinker with a build, try it out, go shoot some aliens in the face. Fun.

John Smith Actually this latest update made it so all purple armor is end-game armor now, they all can be upgraded to max level, Same with weapon. It's also pretty easy to get the materials to do it. You can now also re-roll any vendor weapons making bought weapons pretty much the best thing outside of exotics and raid weapons in raids.

Pete Van Grimm I honestly find MMORPG's like WoW to be different, because there usually is more of an end goal. Either it's Arena Rating for PvP'ers or (for me) killing all bosses on heroic. It's not the same as endless grinding in my opinion.

Vaxivop a big difference also seems to be that most MMO's have stuff around the grinding, or at least different things to grind. Taking WoW as an example there's raidprogression, pvp, garison-stuff, story (a good chunk of which you never saw and can go back to even if you now oneshot everything), collecting pets/mounts, collecting achievements, professions, alts and so on. A great deal of it is grindy, but because there's variation you can switch the grind, instead of just doing the same thing over and over and over again. It's probably why it still exists, there's just a lot of random stuff to do.

undetestable1 It's not a hole or a stain, it's a worn spot. The socks are white cloth with a layer of black cloth underneath. What you are seeing is a spot where the white layer has worn through at the ball of the foot because I incessantly practice sick jump shots. No stain, nothing gross, and you're not seeing the bottom of my foot. The more you know!

rahn45 See, the thing is, grinding is a market strategy. They compared Destiny to Candy Crush spot on, the grinding in those games are exactly the same (although you could say that CC is worse because you can pay to get around it.). However, Destiny doesn't have the manliness stigma that a mobile game like Candy Crush has, and as grindy of a game that CC is, it's been the top free game on both the app store and google play for months now.

i dont think even lots of open world games force someone to grind, take Fallout: New Vegas as a good example, everything in that game is of a very standard difficulty level, and if you cant fight something either you arent really supposed to fight it (deathclaws) or you just arent good at the game, but even still it is better to at least figure out what enemies you want to fight most of the time

Coconut Crab Why becuase you expected Mass Effect Online even though nothing indicted that it would be that. I never got why people were so hype for this game when they barely showed any of it up until the beta which was a good representation of the full game. It's an MMO Shooter for consoles that is really fun. It has a ton exotic guns that are some of the best designed guns in any videogame not surprising since it's Bungie. Awesome exotic armor with special perks that look epic. Special events like the Nightfall and Iron Banner the PVP is great a little unbalanced but once you figure it out it's awesome. The Raids are tons of fun with their own special loot like armor and guns to collect. It's more fun with friends but Destiny has one of the best active communities so even if you don't have friends to play with LFG can make sure you find group for any active in the game. It's not anyone's fault but your own that you had unrealistic expectations (A release on old gen should've told you that it wasn't going to be anything truly next gen). The game isn't perfect but, there is a reason why this game is such a success and has a growing player base. Where as games like Titanfall(awesome game) and Evolve don't have half the player base Destiny does. Continue the fight Guardian.

I honestly wanted more story out of it, yeah having cool guns and looking cool is great, but nothing beats a good immersive enriching storyline to master, and that's where Destiny fell short for me, they put what could've been a great story, made it a choppy vanilla as hell MMO shooter that copied Borderlands' loot whoring thing minus the satisfying loot drops with a super basic PvP mode that just drops the ball. (I hate pvp anyway) and lack of options to play it MMO style or lone wolf style all just made the game disappointing

Th3SP1C Growing player base? What are you talking about? They only released info on how many people have created accounts. From Alpha to present day. That is in no way conclusive. I would like to see the how many people actively played from launch day until the Dark Below expansion. Then from Dark Below until House of Wolves. When I say active I mean how many players signed in and at least went on a patrol mission. I would really like to see how many active accounts weekly. They made a lot of misleading statements about Destiny. They started to push people away with their "Hot Fixes" and going 6 months without any new DLC is just inexcusable. They also made one of the dumbest statements I have ever heard a developer make "This isn't how we want people to play Destiny". In that case they should be making movies, not video games. They have pushed people away and it feels like they are intentionally trying to stop people from enjoying their game. Before you try to say that I don't know what I'm talking about or I just don't like Destiny because I didn't give it enough time, let me stop you before you do. I have 3 level 32 characters. 2 level 32 hunters and a level 32 warlock. I have every piece of raid gear and raid weapon from both raids. I also have every exotic weapon in Destiny. My favorite being Hawkmoon. Don't believe me? My PSN id is Sir_Splitwigg. Look me up on Bungie.net I have sunk nearly a month into Destiny (actual play time). Not including Alpha and Beta Testing. I wanted Destiny to succeed as much as anyone. But I cannot turn a blind eye to the foolish things they have put their community through. The people that still play Destiny either A. Haven't had it that long or B. Don't have anything else to play. I hope Bungie can turn it around and give their fans what they deserve but in recent months they have only let people down and tarnished their impressive track record.

Little Light Only MMO's, even then,grind heavy MMO's are quickly losing popularity as people don't have time to spend 30+ hours to level up 1 time. The only one keeping consistent popularity really is WoW but even then its losing popularity slowly.

Little Light I feel like it's a bad thing that we just accept that MMOs are grindy. Why hasn't anyone thought of the fact that that freaking sucks?

Little Light You can certainly make the case that other games involve grinding, but every other game frankly just makes it more fun. Multiplayer shooters, like Call of Duty, have more levels to play on, more weapons to pick from, more customization both for your character and your weapons and things are constantly unlocking especially when you factor in prestige modes and such, ontop of the fact that your enemies are other humans who use different stratagies and don't always spawn in the same place. Borderlands certainly can be a bit of a grind but there are so many levels and so much content to go through before you even factor in the DLC (and frankly the Borderlands expansions are almost always worth the money) and when you kill large bullet sponge bosses you know for damn sure you're getting something good. And again, far more variety of loot and the game is way less stingy with it meaning the grind is constantly yielding new weapons to try. RPG's like Elder Scrolls/Skyrim certainly have their grind as well but again, SO much content. There's stories everywhere, places to discover, people to talk to, dragons to find. There's so much to do that I played through it five times with five unique characters and I found new stories each time while exploring the world. So, yes, other games have grind elements to them, but the grinds occur behind a myriad of settings and stories which keeps it interesting and often involves the constant unlocking of new stuff (like loot). It's entirely your prerogative to enjoy Destiny, but you really do have to admit it's a very limited experience and should understand why so many people lost interest.

Dark souls 1&2, bloodborne, monster hunter, all great games with lots of grinding.

Mage Rabbit Dark Souls and Bloodborne have no grinding...you should be able to run through them just find without ever revisiting areas to farm.

starsiaeve That was great to read! Here's an idea for your time at home: its also really fun to get people who are really bad at COD into it for the local multiplayer and do stupid shit in it. I have a friend who pretty much sucks at the game, so me and a few other friends of varying skill levels will do a 4 man free for all and the one who really sucks will have a loadout of: a riot shield, combat knife, and some standard flash bang grenades. Its his mission to run back and forth across the smallest maps and get murdered as few times as possible, but also try and get as many kill steals with his riot shield as possible. Seriously, its some of the most hilarious shit ever!

I think it's really funny because he works in IT. He will play some PC games but again he still won't play those with me unless we are on a team together because I beat him at them too. It was after I beat him and two others at five games in a row of age of empires that he refused to even play PC games against me. If he wasn't sexist it wouldn't matter. I guess I could let him win but where's the fun in that.

How? Why? What made you do this to yourself when you could play something more rewarding? Why not Borderlands or Halo, since the game is a... mildly entertaining version of both. Or something with challenging difficulty like Dark Souls or... anything else but this really.

Sir Potato I don't think it is greed, I think it is just them fixing their mistakes with the initial game, and the only way to fix those mistakes is by doing more work on the game, which requires money so the devs aren't homeless. That is at least I view it, but if you don't want to play the game that is cool with me

kibateo Except terrible, when you kill a boss in WoW it drops a bunch of loot which is then immediately distributed to people in the raid. They added bonus rolls where you can buy tokens (in game money) to roll for an item the boss drops, sometimes you get an item, sometimes you get gold. Destiny is like if bosses didn't drop loot and only allowed each person to bonus roll once. Fuck. That. Shit.

Negative. Warlock Sunsingers get a solar overshield after any melee if your melee move is charged. Titan Defenders get an overshield after a melee kill.
