Really? Fixate? For real? Wished I moved in your circles Ren. Where I'm at (rural NW US) most people have no idea of the MBTI for starters, let alone the INFJ. I put that info about me out there, and the only interest was another INFJ who turned out to be a transplant from the same area I came from 3,000 mile away. Like shouting 'Helloooo' in a big cave and nothing back but the echo.
I always lived in very urban areas in my country and worked always with psychologists and RH Consultants. As an INFJ I never ever knew how personality type mine (INFJ) was until I had to move to a smaller town in West Texas!!!
I think they fixate on the ideal version of INFJ, described by the feeling types who tend to focus on the positive traits, who embellish it, for the ones who know few about psychological types. They should meet or talk to INFJ, to dissolve this filter or misconception that all INFJ have good qualities and no bad traits. The only type I fixated on was my own. What I noticed, most of the time, no one care or notice the Ni dom. Maybe INFJ less ignored than INTJ. I think it's hard to be friend with an INFJ, they need a lot of calm & alone time. We may forget that a big part of their functioning is Ni, not Fe. It's rare that I appreciate someone, and it doesn't depend of their type, but of their maturity/development, uniqueness, energy, some others things that I can"t explain. You made me laugh.
Ren, I’ve never known anyone who even knows MBTI. But nowadays I live in rural coastal Australia and since I tested (twice over a couple months) as INFJ I have learned a great deal about why I feel to be, and am considered, so different among those I know and people who meet me. The most common reaction that is voiced toward me is that apparently I am not like anyone they’ve met before. It is kind of disconcerting but you get used to it over the years. When someone gets obsessive about me, though, I feel very uncomfortable, and it’s been a theme over the decades and I still squirm if I encounter this.
That is an excellent response to a very worrying question. If an INFJ is well adjusted and can positively use their social chameleon trait, it would be hard for someone to spot an INFJ anyway. PS - Loved The Ecstatic Soul and am just about to order my copy of The Infinite Soul.
If the INFJ type is so rare, why is there so much INFJ content, and with such high view counts? A year or two ago, lots of INFJ vids appeared in my yt, which I didn't watch, because I had always tested as ISTP. Why would people routinely watch content about other types? Every other video title used the words rare or special to describe INFJ. I'D be wary of anyone claiming to be special, or telling you that you are special. Didn't watch a single INFJ video then. Over 25 plus years I'd tested 3-4 times, the result being ISTP. Some aspects of the type seemed to fit, but it wasn't really me overall but I thought it was likely that I, like many, simply lacked self awareness. Last year I took the MB test again, maybe 4 years after the last one. Each time I've done MB it's always been a workplace or work related course. This time the result was INFJ. When the type was discussed, it seemed to be a better fit overall. I still didn't bother watching any INFJ content until quite recently, when I laughed out loud at the familiarity of INFJ traits and behaviours. Someone suggested that when I tested as ISTP, I was giving what I thought were right/good/correct answers. Nonsense. I always gave my first reaction answer. I watched numerous videos re the question of can someone's type change, the answer being a resounding 'no'. Did I choose to wear a mask? Not intentionally. There was certainly no place for F in my early life. Did I will myself into being another type? Maybe I'll make up my own type and label. 😊
tests are just tests and give some answer based on what you fill in. It's better to try to understand the types if you feel unsure. Some people do 10 tests and then get confused cause the outcomes are different. Also, knowing about other types will alwasy give you better perspective about your own
Between us here, INFJs are really fascinating. I am one but I sincerely think we are just very fascinating. It’s a pity that I never knew another INFJ like me. I would love, tho. I am also an INTJ. So, I am an INXJ. In my work I got to know some INTJs. They are also fascinating. Well, at least to me they are. lol 😂
They like the idea of an INFJ based on descriptions online or some famous INFJs in the world or on RU-vid. That doesn't mean they can handle an INFJ. Besides all INFJs are different. If you had already had an INFJ in your life, but things went south and you realized you want a person with INFJ traits, but not this one who's no longer in your life, that's cool. I love intuitives, they're my home. Most of my friends are NFs and NTs and I think I'll end up with another INTJ girlfriend again since I love particular INTJ type traits, buttttt unfortunately out of 7 or 8 INTJs I've known, only two have their emotional intelligence in place and don't suffer from some cluster B disorder. So to an extent I get those INFJ hunters, but...
I really dont understand why they want us at all. It always puts me off when the people in my life even want to hang out with me at all. I think their ideal INFJ would be someone like Galadrial or Aragorn type but not realizing that there are Johan Liebert INFJs as well which is concerning.
I am sure I am infj I am using my Fe that can adjust to Social environment that is really important function for us to talk with someone else but people always fixate on me I always get attention from every friend that I have met but somehow they kinda avoid me and don't want me to join their circle and it is kinda disturbing lol but I just act good to them but when I saw your video I wish that I joined your circle also almost some of them have bad attitudes(my friends) Also I haven't met any of infj for 13+ years ever in my life
I think I'm inclined to agree with you. I don't know about other INFJs but I'm very sensitive to others' intentions and if I get a whiff of someone wanting to be around me only because of a label with which I happen to identify, I'm already gone.😅 The idea of being someone's "token INFJ" skeeves me out something fierce!😂
I only recently discovered I'm INFJ and I agree with many others that MBTI is just not common knowledge here in the Midwest US. However, people wanting to befriend you because you're INFJ would be an objectification and it would be insincere friendship. We INFJ's hate fake people, so it stands to reason that you would feel icky about people seeking your friendship for no other reason. I know I would feel icky about it.
This fascination creates that feeling of as if we're exotic/weird animals in some safari. People go ooh and ahh somewhat or might get off of their car and wanna touch the animals since they don’t take them seriously. That explains the discomfort for me. I almost said they're putting us on a pedestal and expecting something from us but it doesn't hit right much. A man is fascinated by me, attracted to me even, but he dislikes 'wishy-washy' spiritual people so much. It got me thinking why tf he has a crush on me. This was before he even knew about mbti and infjs.
I feel like spiritual awakening plays a role in the change, caring about other people and how they feel as a collective. INFJ is the introverted feeler, we actually like to learn about other MBTI types so that we can better identity with them but we genuinely need lots of space from them. I believe peoples trsits change a little based on spiritual (not religious) changes.
