Sita's chastity was questioned while Rama was walking on earth. If he did not make these harsh decisions, it would have continued beyond his time on earth. But, because he did what he did, not a single person has ever again questioned Sita's chastity. All the fingers that then pointed at Sita now point at Rama. Sita, went in history as a woman of unquestionable chastity, and Rama, despite all the suffering he endured to uphold Dharma, all his achievements, is still criticized for abandoning Sita. That was Rama's dedication for Sita.

I understand. It is therefore I am told that to this day, parents do not name their newborn daughter child as Sita, fearing that she may face difficulties later in life. But Sita's story in itself is that of commitment (spent 14 years along with her husband in exile and in isolation in Lanka), motherhood (bringing up twins on her own) and sacrifice (not reuniting with her husband but letting the earth consume her mortally to return where originally she was found as child) . Many woman who have faced personal difficulties in their own life have drawn strength from that story to face them.

Thanks to this channel I had the motivation of reading a Critical Translation in English of the Valmiki Ramayana. I just finished the first two Kandas: Bala Kanda and Ayodhya Kanda. Going to the source has been an eye opener on Rama's personality, all the people around him and important events that happened in these two first parts. This topic about leaving Sita is quite contentious, because of the historic context when it happened. I'm looking forward to read everything myself to come to my own conclusions, based upon the values of Sanatana Dharma, my own knowledge and the ancienct wisdom of Bharat. Thanks for another great short docu.

What do you mean by "pure". Are you talking about purity in body or mind? Sita was not raped. Sita was pure in body and mind, still Rama abandoned her because she was suspected of having an impure body, not an impure mind. Is that enough reason to abandon your wife. Let us assume that she has an impure body. Is the impurity because of rape of adultery. If it was adultery, then she had both impure body and mind. But the purity of her mind was never in question. So it was always about her body. Let us assume that she was actually raped. She will have an impure body but a pure mind. Enough reason to abandon?

My age 80. In my age of 28, my friend lay his hands on my wife in my absence. She escaped. But coming know from neighbours and others, i sent my friend away and never insulted my wife, because it was not her fault. She took big camfour and lit it on her hand burning for 3 minutes. She was not at fault. Mother Seetha did walk into fire which 33 crore gods witnessed and she came out perfectly. We are well today without disease. I never fell for neighbours or others, what they will say. Mother seetha was greater than Rama because her consience was very clear. If i was rama, on public critic, i will go with my wife to forest/ vaalmiki ashram and stayed away from world, to respect to my conscience rather than people around. Thank you for providing clarity on the background on agni pravesham. With all the explanation it is possible to accept Rama's situation before at the time of apni pravesham and Sita abandonment. Yet, what is inexplicable is Rama's decision to ask Sita to prove herself again even after agni pravesham+ balmiki muni testament in the raj sava. There is no doubt that after proving oneself to be right so many times, it was the correct decision for Sita to leave Rama and reunite with her mother Dharitri. Rama perhaps crossed the limit there. By this time the tests she had gone through not enough to satisfy the populus of her satitva?

Rama got Yogavasishtam even before marriage. That means he was aware that even sastravasana has to be given up ultimately, how come Dharma became paramount? In Bhagavatham, Ramayana reference comes after Sankhyam, which finds a mention later in Krishna's Bhagavat Gita. Ramayana placed in between two great thoughts pays lip service to Dharma which is only a path to the Ultimate. I believe that the mention of such a sequence is deliberately placed to start an enquiry into a new Paradigm shift to start questioning the path, for that matter any path, which pushes whimsical notions.

I have utmost respect and devotion towards Bhagavan Ram and Sita Maa. But the sufferer is always a woman in all the epics. We never looked from the pov of Sita Maa what she might have gone through. Even after coming back to Shri Rama, she had to go through all these. Similarly in Mahabharata, Pandavas always kept quiet even at the time when Draupadi was in danger, only to protect Dharma and his morals. How is Dharma retained by letting their women get exploited ? I am a devotee of Shri Krishna. I am young and I might be wrong, please correct my mistakes if any. Also these are my genuine curiosities, not influenced by leftists or anti hindu propaganda. No , if you look at sri Rama's story, it's he who suffered the most because he had to part with that who is priceless for him. Sita had to face trials and tribulations until she entered agni, but Ram until his death much after sita's agni pravesham.

Like they can gamble their family but still it's a dharma!!!!!! But just for the sake of this they let everything happen... Lord krishna had to come coz he had no choice but by himself protecting draupadi.. He knew everything happening was wrong... Just imagine if shri krishna wouldn't be there for her... What would happen... And then imagine this in our present time... As a women I can't imagine this if it became reality in front of hundreds of men.

And still I don't understand which dharma they were all sticking to by not saying anything... And By keeping silence in front of injustice is no dharma.. But may be i dont know the depth of scriptures.... You may know better... Rabhana abduct that maya Seetha into Lanka and the power of MayaSeetha destroyed Lanka, Rama cannot receive Maya Seetha as his wife if he does that then Kingdom also could be destroyed. Sir, one clarification: when someone comments on the queen, is it not the king's duty to explain what has actually happened instead of going by what was commented. In general, kings needs to analyze the statement made by any person ( sita, in this context) and rama needs to explain it to the person who commented. If he punished sita by hearing some words by a random person, then it may prove that the person who commented is right. I am just thinking that the king could have gone as per dharma by proving/disproving the statement in the court before taking the decision.. please help me to understand this concept

@ramanisrikirankalanadhabha1004
See, from what I understand, politically there are some rules that a ruler must follow for the dharma to function properly, it's not as simple as just proving his point and moving on. Rama is a king, not a commoner. For instance, if you look at this scenario from today's point of view, why do we think our government doesn't accept the women back who were forced to join ISIS, but have now realized and want to return. The women's parents still plead our government to bring them back. Why do you think our government doesn't consider their pleas? They are brain washed people, they may pose a threat to the country in the future. It's for the safety and security of the country. Similarly, maa Sita was in captivity with the enemy country as well. The women who were in captivity in Syria were common people. But, in Rama's scenario, Maa Seeta was going to become queen and rule the country, probably a major part of the earth, back then. How serious should a king be about this? After the abduction of Seeta, it's become a political thing now, no more a personal issue for Rama. She is his dear wife and he knows very well about her, but there's nothing personal for a ruler who puts his life before his country. Another point in my understanding is, it's not good for the king to have emotional weaknesses any time in his life. It's very dangerous and there's 100% chance for the enemy countries to take advantage of this. So, it's very important for Rama to prove to his citizens that he has no personal weaknesses, and his country's well being is his foremost responsibility. It's the personal sacrifice a king has done for his dharma as a ruler of a country. Rama is dharma personified, that's the greatness of our Rama.🙏

I think i might have a good enough explanation...at least something which satisfies me and makes sense. After the war, lord rama and maata sita were coronated king and queen. There was celebration all around in Ayodhya! And the epic of lord ram's battle against raavana spread like wildfire. And of course people, i assume, got to know about maata sita's agni-pravesha which was proof enough of her chastity and purity. But you see my friend, we live in a society and so did the people at that time. Gossip is not something one can really fight against, it's a coward of an enemy, but unkillable all the same, immortal even. And people gossiped, in-spite of the truth. And the dhobi was just more vocal than your average citizen but even he ,I assume, would falter and curse himself for saying what he did if he actually met lord rama and maata sita in person. Lord rama heard about the way the public talked about his wife, the queen and questioned her chastity. How do you think he felt about it? for a man who had been through so much suffering, even going as far as to indirectly make maata sita, his love, his wife, his very life undergo an agni-pravesha just for the sake of his people so that they never doubt her, this must've been absolutely heart wrenching. Rama failed. The scion of ikshvaku, the very incarnation of Mahavishnu, the preserver, was defeated. Now, could he have given an explanation? absolutely so! punished the dhobi and whoever else for talking ill about the queen? i mean Rama would never have even thought about it but you know how cruel kings can be! But one must realize that the agni-pravesha was the absolute pinnacle of proof and nothing could top that. So rama did the one thing only he could. He sent maata sita away. And look at all the hate he gets even now for what he did. Does anyone ever question maata sita's chastity now in modern times? No. But do some people absolutely abhor lord ram? Yes , and so did i for a long time now! That is how great Lord rama is! Some might say he failed as a husband, but i think not. if anything he failed in love, he couldn't be with his beloved but he made sure that her honour was intact and he beared the brunt of misfortune. It has taken me literal years to understand our lord's actions. JAI SHRE RAM!
@ramanisrikirankalanadhabha1004
@@achyuthanand5006 Yes, Rama did not fail. Atleast for maa Sita, Rama is never a failure, and Rama knows that. But, inspite of sacrificing so much, the society still judges him. As far as his love for his wife is concerned, who are we as a society to judge. This society never understands. Rama after he orders Lakshman to leave her in the forest, also makes sure that she's left nearby Rishi Valmiki's ashram so she'd be taken care of. People don't recognize these gestures and still judge his love towards his wife. One can understand Rama only by reading Valmiki Ramayan. Even I used to argue a lot with my mother when young. But now I understand that people need to have lot of maturity to understand both "Raja Ram" and "Sita Ram".

Despite everything being explained well in the video, people are still asking stupid questions. Many times the circumstances are such where the difference between righteousness and unrighteousness becomes very less, in that situation Shri Ram took a decision which a common man can never take. If today's young generation is so stupid that they cannot understand this, then it is not the fault of Shri Ram. (The respect for Shri Ram has increased in my heart) I don't know whether Ramayana is true or not, I maintain a neutral viewpoint between theists and atheists. But after reading Ramayana from beginning to end, there is no doubt left in my mind about the character of Lord Rama. I respect Shri Ram and will always do so.
@raveenaaitharaju8909
@raveenaaitharaju8909 Год назад
In addition to my previous comment, it also reflects that the whole narrative is very emotionally made decision. Just like how many of us, who intend to be righteous and idealistic in nature, believe we are in the right path n this is how it will be right. But, while walking that path, we hurt a lot of those who are not on the same page even if they are right . May be in the assumption and presumption of us always trying to prove to be right, we too make mistakes. And sometimes really costly mistakes unaware of what to actually do! We are always forced to believe rama is a good boy and he listens to people n follows dharma. How can a good leader just be a listener. Shouldn’t be also carry his own opinions and influence people the right way to think and direct them towards growth? Similar examples are there in many stories, Like, Shakuntala Devi and her husband (how she was abandoned), Later, in Jodha Akbar (idk the exact factual info, but through the movie n some references, how Jodha was questioned and she left home n then Akbar went back to get her when he realised), So it’s always about a man committing a mistake in haste, or in the fear of society’s failure of judgement that a woman is questioned and punished! For a man to re-realise her worth n purity? It’s probably the repeated pattern n mistake . May be it’s time to advocate the righteousness by actually giving a direction to the society on how to judge, how to not fear society’s judgement, how to not misguide women to bear the wrath of all the patriarchal forces for her to still prove her innocence! It needs a severe change before propagating more on how it was righteous at all. May be the take away could just be, “A man like rama has also committed a mistake, and one must learn to not repeat the same pattern. Atleast rise up and be more bold to face the world together rather than making harsh self made decisions in the name of righteousness!

Rama was spineless enough to not show the true dharma to the public. Already Sita had done agnipariksha and the public still is questioning her chastity. The public will never learn and will gossip however much Rama do anything about it. Because that's how public are, they gossip and poke into things. And to implore further, imagine Sita was raped and to take it more further, imagine she got pregnant from that. Can Rama be the real Puroshottama and show to the people that it was not her fault. Even if her 'purity' is gone, it's not her fault and we must take care of the weak and the victims and not push them off like garbage. He could have showed a new and improved Dharma for his people. As Dharma keeps changing according to time and place, Dharma doesn't have to be a static entity. Rama was a coward and a fool. Coward for not doing the right thing. Fool for taking gossip among public seriously than teaching them about truth, critical thinking and empathy. End of story.

Is he willing to take the charge? That’s the only answer I’m waiting to know if this story has anything more to offer. If not, it’s not right.

@jaydutta7711
@jaydutta7711 Год назад
*@RenukaLakshmiNarayana* I have a rational authentic scripture based answer to your question. So let me answer your question on my favourite topic about God. First of all rejecting the materialistic desire is applicable to the creations of God only, to realise the ultimate reality which is God himself, for salvation. So these requirement is not applicable to the creator i.e God since the God is everything, he created everything for this subject matter. As we learn from the Vedas that MOKSHA can be attained by mortals only when they don't have the desires from materialistic world that includes relations, marital life, in order to focus on the God to get salvation. Now the question is whom will the GOD focus on, and for what? I mean the God doesn't need salvation, he is the *salvation provider,* he is omnipresent everywhere, so why should these requirements be applicable to the God? 🤦🏻‍♂️ To understand that clearly, you should know that the God is not a man neither a wómen, the God is a genderless Supreme entity who created all womén & men including all living creatures and everything in the universe. So the God doesn't have any sexual partner i.e wife like us human beings. The God's consort is actually a manifestation of his own energy which represents his self-sufficient capabilities. For example, goddess Lakshmi is a feminine manifestation of God Vishnu's own feminine energy, not his wife like us human beings. Because we man don't create our wife, but God Vishnu created his own consort Lakshmi out of himself. That's why you see her always worshipping Vishnu by serving his sacred feets with her absolute devotion, as she is half self of Vishnu herself. And goddess Lakshmi also represents the Prakriti and prakriti always serves the PARAMATMA i.e God Vishnu himself. It is said that God Vishnu's all expansions worship him just like all demi-gods and goddesses worship him. Hope that cleared your doubts regarding your question. Hare Krishna 🙏

From my understanding, the immolation was Sita’s decision, not Rama’s. You must also consider this: would the people believe Rama? Obviously Rama would defend his wife, so his credibility on the situation is not that believable. Perhaps if Ravana came and said what happened, the people would believe it. Also, keep in mind that the Ramayana is a narrative poem. Events may not have been added to the poem if they didn’t have any effect. Hope this helps.
@jaydutta7711
@jaydutta7711 Год назад
*@shubhamtariyal439* Here is my rational answer to your question. I guess you are terribly misinformed about Ramayana and Lord Rama. Because according to Valmiki Ramayana Lord Rama never questioned his wife i.e Sita's chastity. It was the people around Sita who raised question on her chastity because she was going to be a Queen of Ayodhya. And Lord Rama knew that Sita would understand, because, She as the queen has also got the responsibility of the state. Once, there is an image tarnishing question from the public, she cannot play deaf and continue being their queen. Even if the layman's question was answered by Rama and put an end there, there's no guarantee that the same question of Sita's chastity wouldn't arise in the future. Maa Sita understood that the only solution was to give Agnipariksha to prove her right because she knew that the God Vishnu will save her from the fire 🔥 obviously. And thus the fire test was Sita’s decision, not Rama’s. Lord Rama just saved her From the fire. Hence Sita's last sacrifice was not for her own self respect, she was not that weak and helpless wóman that she'll sacrifice herself for the sake of her own self-respect. Sita sacrificed herself for not being able to tolerate the insult of her husband in front of her what he was witnessing from the thankless people of Ayodhya. That's what triggered Mata Sita to volunteer exist from her life to her eternal abode Vaikuntha. Don't forget Sita was an embodiment of a Goddess.

Rama's character is not questioned because he had already put in enormous effort in travelling across lands and in crossing the sea to find Sita and then putting his life in danger in a battle to rescue her. Do you think that a man who had a slept with another woman in his wife's absence would do that ? Is so, then you are not in reality. Secondly, it is not about an individual worrying about what "Chaar log kya kahenge". Rama was a king bearing responsibilities of the Kingdom on his shoulder and he wanted to fulfill that with the trust of the people of his kingdom that loved him dearly.

*@pikachue602* Excuse me, Miss pikachue602. Don't judge Lord Rama by listening to the ranndom commentary from the internet. Do more research about Valmiki Ramayana before getting into your conclusion... Because according to Valmiki Ramayana Lord Rama never listened to any lies of people. Hence Lord Rama never questioned his wife i.e Sita's chastity. And Sita's last sacrifice was also not for her own self respect, she was not that weak and helpless wóman that she'll sacrifice herself for the sake of her own self-respect.

We are now public figures and much as I know you are as pure as the lotus, you have to go through the agni pariksha. This should convince the praja" For a person who has been through the traumatic experience of being abducted and separated from her beloved, does she need reassurance or condemnation? Was Shree Rama upholding dharma when he ostensibly supported an untruth and banished her into the forest?

I still strongly object to Rama's decision. The main question is not whether he loved Sita but if he was indeed a righteous king at all in this context. He knew very well that Sita was chaste, but his subjects were suspicious of her character. So, as a wise king, he should have called a public meeting and have it declared explicitly that Sita was chaste (repeating this exercise if needed), thus putting an end to the rumors. He should have also made it clear that even if Sita did sit on Ravana's thighs (or did anything that questioned her character), that would have been under coercion and thus would not qualify as a situation for judging her character. If he had pressed that conviction, he would have set a very good example of a king working as a social reformer. But alas, he "feared" speaking to his extremely loyal subjects and undertook this very anti-heroic action of exiling his wife (and eventually regretting it).

The question not answered is, why was something as dramatic amd breath-taking as Sita's agni-pravesh not considered a valid testament of her chastity later on by the people of Ayodhya ? Ram could have simply pointed out that Sita had successfully passed the ultimate test (agni-pravesh) in Lanka itself, to which the entire Vanar and Lanka army was witness; so there remained no reason to doubt her at all. Still if some stupid people were not convinced, it was not Ram's problem. How can a king hope to satisfy everyone in any matter, let alone his personal affairs!!

exactly my point. if Rama had DECIDED ALREADY he'd abandon Sita, why make her go through agni-pariksha? moreover, by abandoning Sita, the message he is giving to his people is "to leave your wife just like i did, for FEAR OF PUBLIC OPINION. is this message RIGHT?

@jaydutta7711 Год назад
@@ranirathi3379 Here is my answer to your question. Listen to me carefully. Lord Rama never leaved maa Sita. So even after reading the original Valmiki Ramayana if you still think that Lord Rama abandoned his wife i.e Sita and the sufferer is always a woman in all the epics, that means either you have never read any of the scriptures of Hinduism except Ramayana or probably you are ignoring the sufferings of different genders except what you want to focus on only, which has made you to think that the sufferer is always a woman in Sanatan Dharma. Nowhere in the scriptures of Ramayana it is mentioned that Lord Rama left his pregnant wife (who was a Queen of Ayodhya) alone. This is a false fake story. In the real story Lord Rama allowed his wife to visit Valmiki Ashram for her spiritual journey when she was pregnant, because she wanted her children to take birth in a spiritual place instead of a palace. So how is that leaving or betraying a wife? Have you ever read authentic Valmiki Ramayana before making up your judgment? You BETTER study our Authentic Valmiki Ramayana instead of relying on your absurd assumption to blabbber nonsense against our God's Avatar, Rama. I have studied Valmiki Ramayana by myself, and didn't find anywhere it is written that lord Rama abandoned his wife for any subject matter. If you have done more studying on Sanatan Dharma then you would know that both womén and men have to give pariksha to the God, be it agnipariksha or whatever.. How could you forgot Prahllad? He was not a woman, and yet he have given serious dangerous Agnipariksha, unlike Sita who was been giving pariksha with safety near her Avatar husband. Understand? So don't play the women card in spirituality. The God don't care about your gender, but méntality only.

Brother, Mother Sita is not a common woman, she is Lakshmi ji who came to earth with Lord Vishnu on her own will, do you think whatever happened in Ramayana did not happen as per her will? Going into exile with Shri Ram, being kidnapped by Ravana or her abandonment by Shri Ram, all these are part of the drama created by Shri Vishnu and Vishnupriya. Do not keep any kind of doubt in your mind about this because there is nothing to doubt.

@@amritansh3357 Firstly, the answer to your question has already been given in the video and secondly, why did Lord Vishnu incarnate on earth in the form of Shri Ram? Why didn't he kill Ravana directly? Why did he need to go into exile? What was the need for them to allow Sita to be kidnapped? Why didn't he kill Ravana at the time of abducting Sita? There is no answer to these questions, that is why I had earlier explained to you that this entire Ramayana from the beginning till the end is a leela created by Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi ji. If you are an atheist then it doesn't matter but if you are a theist and you believe in God then why do you doubt here?
