I was going to make the same comment. Yes, Richard and Hyacinth in their light blue Rover 75. "Mind the lorry, Richard!" "Minding the lorry..."

Wedgewood blue is the official colour name, a suitably middle class name that would have delighted Mrs Bucket ("it's Bookaay")

I went to Silverstone as a kid on Rovers dime to watch the touring car race. I still have the massive flag they gave me to wave.

Love the 75 and always remember Richard and Mrs Bucket in Keeping up Appearances in their old Rover. I'd love a mint 75 for a weekender.

Sad. Somebody should go into small series production of the MG TF and MGR at least. No need to focus the company around selling thousands of cars when there's a market for a few hundred or a thousand cars per year.

I would have bought a redesigned MG two-seater roadster if somebody had gotten the idea to partner with a US car company and launch one over here. We should have been more willing to drive our British allies' cars.

@johnny liebling. Your completely full of crap. Rover didn't have access to the entire BMW parts bin as BMW wouldn't let them. BMW bought rover for one thing only, mini. The 75 and mgzt are an extremely good car. Well engineered, well built and well specced.

mikeys205 Well Engineered? Are you having a Laugh? Nearly Every single 1.6L &1.8L Rover K-series petrol engine Blew its Head gasket at Low Mileage...Thats what added to the Demise of MG-Rover People were fed up with them We couldnt even source Spare parts from them for our Dealership always out of supply etc...SAIC MG"s New Chinese Owners eventually had to Call in Ricardo (A UK Engineering Co) to totally redesign the K-Series engine (Strengthen it) Its now called a"Kavachi unit...To Little To Late!

25 was not a Honda design.

i wonder how the mini stood in all this..? perhaps it would have been successfull if our car remained in british hands ...?

Rover crashed because the cars were shit. They had access to BMW parts Bin and the 75 was the best they could do. Every car Rover EVER designed and built was a total shit box.

johnny liebling the 75 was actually compromised by BMW on purpose as not to create competition.

I owned a Rover 75 Connoisseur SE for five glorious years and was really sad to part with it but it was time to move on. The car was marvellous. Totally reliable, it had a classy interior and a svelte exterior. It was supremely comfortable and with the silky 2.0ltr turbo diesel was even easy to run. But then most people who owned a 75 know this already. I now know that if it had not been for the apparent morons mentioned in these videos I would have been able to replace it with a newer evolution of a Rover. The government don't get away scot free though... they put millions into Nissan, Honda and Toyota while MG Rover sank beneath the waves of incompetence. It is all so sad.

roverlux, The serious"Unresolved" Head Gasket failure Problems associated with the the petrol Rover K-Series unit added to MG-Rover"s Demise to,.. Your 2.0L 75 wouldv"e had a BMW Diesel unit hence it was reliable.

Lord fauntleroy you point is taken but the engine is only one aspect of car reliability. The German electrics are also reliable & rust doesn't seem to be an issue on the 75's. I might also point out that I have the British K series 1.8T engined Rover 75 Connoisseur & it has no issues & drives silky smooth. I find the interior very comfortable & find that it's got respectable performance for such a large car with a relatively small engine.

@@rarevhsuploads4995 The 75 was a fine car but the retro styling isn't to the taste of the mass market. The Jag S-Type had the same problem. While the UK loves nostalgia, they won't buy it.
