@@YHDiamond Yes, Glenn Curtiss and North Beach predated LaGuardia. That does not negate the fact that LaGuardia opened on December 2, 1939. In fact, it opened as New York Municipal Airport in 1939 and was not officially named LaGuardia Airport until 1947.

@@MicheyJoe Well, in this context LaGuardia has a perimeter rule which prohibits it from receiving flights coming from further than X far away anyways (I believe something like Missouri is the furthest it can do), so although yes, Ireland and UAE both have pre-clearance facilities, but they are out of LaGuardia’s “perimeter”, so it doesn’t make any difference anyways.

I've used Terminal 5 at JFK twice for JetBlue flights to Las Vegas and San Juan and can confirm that it is the best terminal there. And it got even better with the addition of the TWA Hotel. The TWA Flight Center next to Terminal 5 was thankfully spared from demolition unlike Pan Am's Worldport, and instead of just sitting there, the historic head house designed by Eero Saarinen (who also designed Dulles outside DC and St Louis' famous Gateway Arch) was incorporated into a new hotel. The only hotel within JFK's boundaries, and it's an aviation geek's paradise with a cocktail lounge inside a freakin' Lockheed L-1649 Starliner from the late 50s (the last of the Lockheed Constellation lineup), the preserved retro look of the head house full of TWA nostalgia, as well as a rooftop pool bar with incredible views of takeoffs and landings. I know people don't like it when historic places change, but this was a change done right.

Twice in the last 6 months I had overnight layovers at JFK with literally no place to go. All the nearby hotels were sold out and I couldn't even wait in any of the terminals. The TWA lobby saved me. There was food, clean restrooms, and outlets for charging. The music was like a drug and the clicking of the boards lulled me to sleep. I didn't even need a room.

1:33 Regarding Dubai, you showed Dubai International which isn't new. The airport has been on that site since 1960, and it received its first big jets in 1965. They only expanded what was on that site. The new airport they built that you're thinking of is Al Maktoum International which opened in 2010 in Jebel Ali. 1:57 JFK has a far bigger flight map than this, this is completely missing South America, Eastern Europe, China, Korea, Southeast Asia, and Africa which you can take flights from JFK to.

IDK that I'd consider LaGuardia Airport international, as they only have pre-cleared flights from Canada (i.e., inbound passengers from Canada don't need U.S. Customs and Border Protection screening at LaGuardia, let alone CBP having no facilities at LGA). Granted, CBP does screen those passengers in Canada, but nowadays, no one in the United States considers Canadian inbound/outbound flights as international flights.

The problem is the history and corruption of nyc.. at one one all the companies that managed the trains were are Manhattan centric and they focused on all the trains being able to go there vs anywhere else .. also , they never really cared for the areas around LaGuardia and JFK. Now with all the development and communities within the area it would cost billions of dollars to extend a few miles to connect the train to the airports and that’s if the communities want a above platform train .

And besides the big 3 there are quite a few others with in a reasonable distance: CDW, MMU, TEB, HPN, and FRG. And Fwiw TEB , HPN and FRG all have customs so are therefore technically international airports, just that they don't generally have air carriers (HPN excepted)

SWF as well. It and HPN both have commerical service and are frequently marketed as NYC.

if by international airport you mean an air[ort with Long Haul flights, London has intercontinental flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick; Tokyo from both Haneda and Narita, and Paris from both Orly and Charles De Gaulle. In South America, I think there are flights to Lisbon (Portugal, Europe) from two airports. It is true that New York is the only airport system in the US with two international airport, most definitely not in the world.

San Francisco has 3, with San Jose as reasonable alternate and Oakland going to Mexico [though it did have other options, and maybe will again when the new terminal opens]

@@Warriorcats64 maybe in the last sentence you meant international airports serving intercontinental flights. All major US cities depend on only one major airport, except NYC. With such a huge flying populace, US definitely needs more domestic ones to convert the present international ones as only international serving airports.

San Francisco has three as well. SFO, OAK, SJC. All handle international flights. Moscow has three too. SVO, DME, and VKO, all of which handle international.
@kaushiksaikadali7460
@kaushiksaikadali7460 2 года назад
I doubt SJC being a bigger airport, since it was hard for me to find any flight even from LA to the bay area, or from east to the bay. SJC needs a lot more flights to decompress the pressure on SFO!

The high demand of visitors forces to have a better management of it. Having the 3 airports would help the plane traffic in the metropolitan area.

Newark I'm just used to flying United 98% of the time. LaGuardia...exists, JFK was better than I expected when I had to leave a work assignment in Boston for an emergency assignment in Brooklyn at 2 hospitals. Not bad overall

For me EWR would be better than JFK or LaGuardia because EWR is served by NJ transit, la guardia isn't served by public transportation and jfk isn't as well served as EWR

LaGuardia is served by public transportation. There’s just no direct access by rail. Albeit it’s bit cumbersome, a few of the MTA Q buses come into LGA. They ride to the 7 train which you can transfer to. also. definitely one of the M buses go there because i used to take it to 125th and transfer to the 4,5 trains.

Millions of people living in the NY area and you can't be bothered to check pronunciation. As for the information content, you all but ignored the multiple regional and local airports located within the airspace of the majors which complicate the environment. Teterboro, which you also can't pronounce, services a large volume of corporate and private jets. In short, your research is grossly lacking. Try putting some effort into your writing and yes, people get pissed when you can't be bothered to learn their name.
