Childe is such a creative way to make an "evil" character join our team without them going all uwu. He's not exactly a bad person, but not exactly a good person, he's just unhinged in his own silly way and I love him.

Childe is an antagonist by orders, not by personality. Trying to destroy a city was literally nothing personal to him. He's expressed an open desire to fight his own allies, so it's hard to see him being morally opposed to anything the player does.

Honestly, tartaglia doesnt need a redemption, imo what he needs is a chracter exploration for him as an individual and what makes him as who he is and i think thats more interesting than a redemption because i think childe got something more in him and hes pretty self aware about Himself Edit:man it seems like many people agree with me about tartaglia as a character, i wish many people in the community didn't just labeled him as a mindless psychopaths who tried to drowned lyue because its such deservice for his chracter, because he got demension and well written self aware magnificent bastard of an antagonist,not a poorly written villain,wich many people always use as an excuse to call him a bad chracter

Why? I think it's pretty obvious, or at least it's explained well in background lore. Perhaps that could have been the focus of his story quest, instead of all that family guff, okay fair enough, I guess that makes sense.

I think his story quest already gave us a hint at that. I know it wasn't stated out right, however I do feel it was strongly implied that part of why he is so "hungry for power" is to protect his siblings. In the same way that an older sibling in a home with no parents, that older sibling takes on the darkest parts of the world and is willing to make a deal with the devil itself if it means keeping their family together and safe. I don't think Tartaglia was threatened into joining the fatui but rather was promised protection and livelihood for his siblings if he joined, as well as promised the chance to get stronger to protect them on his own. It was an offer that he couldn't refuse. So for him being a harbinger is just a means to an end, that end being protecting and taking care of his siblings and making him strong enough so that if the fatui ever fall he can continue to protect and take care of them even on his own. I don't believe his motives are as cut and dry as a character like "Goku"

I agree with this. A thing that people tends to _misunderstand_ about Redemption Arcs is not asking about forgiveness from others nor show a new good side. Redemption Arcs is about releazing that oneself's actions were wrong, toxic and hurting their life, and choose to STOP doing such things, and seek a new path, turning into a new life --- which doesn't mean turning a good guy/hero. It's about changing and envolving. That's why Tartaglia doesn't need a redemption arc, he is warrior at heart and seeking strong opponents to fight. His ideals may disagree with his fellow Harbingers, and possible leave the organization because three mains reasons; 1) Put his family in danger, 2) The Fatui is using his family as a leash, 3) The whole building a New World is something way bigger than himself.
@kathycoleman4648
@kathycoleman4648 Год назад
A redemption arc requires the character who has transgressed to realize their inherent 'sin' within the context of the narrative. Tartaglia has pointed out things he doesn't necessarily like about the expectations placed on him as a Harbinger. He did not inherently enjoy the potential risk to common people from summoning Osial, for instance. Yet he still did as commanded, because his opinion of the Tsaritsa and his loyalty to her weighed heavier to him than any regret or hesitation about that choice. Tartaglia has younger siblings and parents. He knows and values family. Yet it was not merely "Do you wanna kill some babies?" (to the tune of "Do you wanna build a snowman". Sorry!) Rather, it was a question of "Which is of more importance: the glory of Snezhnaya and the will of the Tsaritsa, or the danger this places on the people of Liyue?". Tartaglia is neither a neutral party like the Traveler, nor a citizen of Liyue. For him, the choice was obvious.
@ehe5669
@ehe5669 Год назад
bruh why do people keep saying his family was hostage that's why he's so loyal to tsaritza and fatui when it wasn't the case. he even want to challenge the "harbringers" "take over the world" "fight to death with traveler after" "liyue arc as his stepping stone to conquering the world-thanks to tsaritza for opportunity" this all is in his voice lines and character story. his family as motivation has always been secondary

I think another reason why it isn't even possible for Tartaglia to be redeemed is that, unlike many other characters we encounter, he is unapologetically a human. He wasn't born with divinity or special powers, rather he is where he is now due to unfortunate circumstances which also shaped his ambitions and beliefs. In a fight between gods, demons and anything alike he is just human with powers granted to him which are also slowly eating away at him. I think the fact that he is twisted in such a way where we can't really predict his next move is more proof of his humanity than anything else.

I also like how he doesn't treat his otherwise tragic backstory as one at all; thus making it more tragic imo. He was a weak kid until he fell into the abyss, but to come out of it as a totally different power hungry person is even scarier. He had to enjoy fighting if he wanted a chance at survival, and that was exactly what he did. Now that he's free, the challenge of the abyss is something he cannot get back so now he can only revel in the dangers of being a fatui harbinger. If ever another snezhnayan version of enka comes, I really hope the entrance is the same place Ajax fell into. I think Hoyo giving Childe a redemption arc would genuinely be a bad idea. I mean, let's talk about how much it would completely butcher his character and defeat the entire purpose of his character to begin with. And yes, I agree- Childe caring for his family was already there before. Therefore, I don't think it should have been taken and interpreted as his "redeeming quality" because he has none. I've had this theory for a while. I think something could happen where Tartaglia will be forced to make a choice. It's clear The Mayor is 'providing' for his siblings, and might use them as fodder. Ahh we had the same idea! I have thought it very unsure that Pulcinella would take up looking after Tartaglia's family - more so actually going lengths to spoil his siblings instead of the bare minimum - without there being some underlying reason why. Although we don't know much about how the other harbingers were conscripted, we know that Tartaglia's was almost like an act of pushing away a troubled child, and he was made to enlist regardless of whether he wanted to or not. He seemed like a really volatile kid and Pulcinella, possibly with the worry of Tartaglia leaving the Fatui to do his own thing, gave him the offer of protecting his family so he would ultimately be trapped in harbingership and not want to leave knowing someone reliable is looking out for his family. Wanderer's voicelines kind of confirmed this, saying "Only someone as dense as Childe would think The Rooster is looking after him and his family out of the goodness of his heart", and claims that Pulcinella looking after Tartaglia's family means "your entire family is in my hands". I also have a feeling Tartaglia is in some way intimidated by the harbingers. He seems to talk about some of them in his voicelines with a lot of skepticism, and in his character stories (not sure which) he talks about being entirely loyal to the Tsaritsa, but not agreeing or feeling conflicted with some of the other harbingers’ more sadistic methods. We know he is really only a harbinger for the opportunity to fight, move around and grow stronger, but I highly doubt he enjoys being one.
@anaplaysstuff

He even admits he's a "bad guy" when we first meet him. It's just that at that point in time he didn't want to fight us. If he had met us under different circumstances, we might have started out as antagonists straight off instead of not entirely trusting allies. I agree that he doesn't need or want a redemption arc since as far as he's concerned at present (and for the foreseeable future?) he's done nothing to warrant it. His ideals regarding strength and his loyalty to the Tsaritsa and her supposed higher calling all take precedence over anything "bad" he might do in service of those things. It's interesting that he is self aware enough to realize they're "bad" things that he wants to keep it from Teucer though, even if it's in service to some "higher calling". It's also interesting since one can assume that the rest of Childe's family is fully aware of what his status is as a Harbinger but they also play along with him in letting Teucer believe he's something else.

I don’t imagine he will ever get a redemption, but a reconciliation is possible. A meshing of his love, kindness, and his manic bloodlust. He may redirect these urges in a way more “heroic” as all out war between the major factions (Fatui, Celestia, the Abyss, the Abyss Order, and the Archons/humanity) draws near (as he has been shown to want). He wants to be good and heroic- which may be why he admires the traveler so much. They both are insanely powerful and fairly neurotic in their approach to getting what they want, but the traveler directs their energies in constructive methods rather than destructive- and they do so entirely of their own volition, not as a pawn (mostly).

In my opinion, Tartaglia is a narrative mirror to the Abyssal Sibling. Both (probably) care for family and are fiercely loyal to their nations the point where they pose a threat to Teyvat. Even their titles are similar since Childe refers to a nobleman's son and the Abyssal Prince/Princess refers to a king's son/daughter. As such, I believe that Tartaglia will be used to help the Traveller understand their sibling's motivations (since the Abyssal Sibling gets like zero screen time) and how to refute it. Tartaglia and the Abyssal Twin may also have opposite fates (i.e. one will be saved and one will sacrifice themselves to save the Traveller) since their stories need to diverge at a critical junction due to the Traveller's actions. I also think that while the Tsariza will offer the Traveller the option to join the Fatui against Celestia, the Traveller will refuse the offer. This is because the narratively sensible option would be for the Traveller to pick a "third option" which will only be revealed to the Traveller after they struggle picking between the choices that they have been previously presented with (which are always non ideal solutions).

this is why i genuinely was puzzled with people getting upset at the fact the traveler was about to tell the children and yoimiya that Childe was a Harbinger in the most recent photograph event. Even if Childe is good with children, that doesn't erase the fact he's one of the leaders of the fatui, he's still super dangerous and people deserve to be made aware of that 😭

Exactly! 😭 Yoimiya is such a sweetheart and I believe she sees the good in things but she just met him on good and friendly terms. Traveler, on the other hand, has been involved in a lot of Fatui schemes, ofc, they would be wary of him. No, traveler did not insinuate that Childe will hurt the children (as most people believed), it's more like having a fatui in Inazuma is not really a good omen. They just don't want Yoimiya to get involved any further because they know they're dangerous.

honestly, within the fandom, tartaglia is one of the most mischaracterized characters in genshin impact. a lot of people tend to see him in parts rather than a whole. and just showcase him as either a family forward big brother type or a sadistic battle maniac. but that duality is part of what makes his character so engaging to me! (and many others as well). I don't think tartaglia needs a redemtion arc either, I hope he remains an antagonist and we get a possible rematch with him somewhere down the line!
@navap.6799
@navap.6799 Год назад
One of the things I noticed while replaying the Liyue quest is that Tartaglia didn’t *want* to do what he did. He tried to get the gnosis in the less conspicuous way, and only when that failed did he decide to release Osial. The thing is,that when he does that, he says how he doesn’t enjoy hurting the weak- but his goal, as a Fatui harbinger, was to get the gnosis no matter what. That’s also why he was so upset to find out Zhongli AND Signora kept him in the dark for so long. Because he could take the hit of his reputation to further his goals, out of loyalty to the Tsaritsa. But knowing that what he did was utterly and completely pointless… it left him bitter. And with nothing to his name anymore in all of Liyue. I’m not saying that releasing Osial is misunderstood. He knew what he was doing. But what people don’t understand is that other characters, like Zhongli, had quite a part in this too. Childe never would have done what he did if Zhongli and Signora were upfront with him the whole time. Because his ideal, as a Fatui harbinger, is to be as loyal as possible to the Tsaritsa. Everything else comes afterward. And this same loyalty applies to his family too. He represents a different kind of loyalty. A kind of “ride or die” loyalty, that is willing to do even the most drastic things to help the people he cares about, and is loyal to. His story quest only further proves it. So my conclusion? He shouldn’t get redemption, but just deserves more credit. As you said at the start of the video, he’s a morally grey character- so it’s important to acknowledge the whole picture when it comes to him.

Although I agree that my boi don't need no redemption, I would like to add a few things. He doesn't need to redeem himself because it wasn't originally his first plan anyway. Summoning Osial was his last resort and he even told us that he'd rather not do it but because he was ordered by the Tsaritsa, he went with it anyway. Tartaglia actually felt extreme remorse for it since he had never wanted to involve innocent lives. It's unfair that the Traveller treated him with hostile yet was instantly best friends with Zhongli who planned everything and Ei who did worst things. Yes, Ei had a redemption arc but in her second story quest so Traveller should have been a little more cautious of her before then. I personally have no qualms about Traveller being wary of him. By all means, be as cautious as you want but their dialogue when it comes to him is never neutral. The thing that bothered me with the dialogue during the current event is the fact that Traveller assumes he would harm children. By the way, in order to do this event, you need to finish his character quest so you actually see the side of him that's more Ajax than Tartaglia. He would never harm children. Yoimiya who only just met him, knows everything about him, still had a better understanding that although he's dangerous, he is genuine when it comes to the kids and he should be treated accordingly. Had the dialogue been in more neutral tones, I think most people would not have a problem with it. By the way, I say this as a Zhongli, Tartaglia and Traveller main but imma call out my main when I know they are wrong. XD
@anaplaysstuff

IIRC, Traveler was more like, "uh...be cautious because he's a Harbinger, you know." I don't think Traveler said anything directly about him harming children. And considering that every one of Traveler's interactions with Harbingers has had some sort of trauma involved and this is technically happening right after Sumeru with Dottore and Scara maybe some of that extra caution feels warranted to the Traveler.

Exactly why he's my favorite character. He's supposedly a morally gray character and acts like one. Most importantly, he's straightforward character, no bullshit. He acts like a Fatui Harbinger when he needs to be, and acts like himself when he can. That's a complex, perfectly balanced duality of a character right there. He doesn't need any redemption, his character is perfect as it is. I'm hoping scaramouche will be similar. It's not that he suddenly change his ways and becomes good, its just that he moves on. I hope it'll just be him, leaving Fatui, and continue moving on with his life. I don't think he needs redemption. Scaramouche's personality is similar to Tartaglia in a way, they both never asks for forgiveness from anyone. They do whatever they need/want to do for themselves. They're unhinged and selfish, but it's the exact reason why they're both interesting. Now Ei on the other hand... Idk, she felt like a failed morally gray character. *warning I'm gonna rant, so skip if you don't want to read/uninterested* Ei was teased to be another unhinged, morally gray character. But then it turns out she's like an innocent young girl who got hit with trauma. The actual morally gray character ended up being Raiden, her puppet. Ei herself isn't. She's too good at heart to be one, she's too human despite being an archon. Oddly enough, this ruins her character for me. Nahida on the other hand, works perfectly. Bcs Ei shunned herself from the world, she just became ignorant. Her people died out of civil war, yet she claims she don't know anything and barely cares? Sure, she "supposedly" got redemption arc in the 2nd quest but, the fact that everyone welcomes her back lovingly as if nothing happened is disturbing. Traveler confronts her with Yae but, traveler themselves never have any hostility towards her. Not even 1 Inazuman person confronts her about the war. For some reason, everyone's behaviour becomes unrealistic when it comes to her? The only realistic character is only Yae. She called her out on her bullshit. Calling her a child throwing tantrum. Ei, traveler, and Inazuma people were too nice to each other, given their circumstances. It's nothing like the interaction between Traveler, Childe and Scaramouche. Traveler literally participated in the war, helping the resistance. Yet she's not wary of Ei, despite Raiden trying to kill her multiple times, experiencing the war, and knowing Kazuha's story. How does that make any sense. Yes, Raiden may be automated, but Ei knows what Raiden was doing to traveler. Traveler's behaviour was just odd. It's like the writers gave up and just make them simp for Ei regardless. It was a shame

I agree with you about Ei. When I played her 1st story, I thought, "Why do you accept her easily? Traveler? Inazuman??" Many people say what Ei did isn't a bad thing. Inazuma accepted her Decree. It was Fatui who things complicated. Only few vision holders got their visions consficated. Only resistance who died in war and it's their own fault. I was like "Only few vision holders? Aren't they Inazuman too? They lost their ambition, their memories, their life! Even Yae needs to call her out." Ei is aware of fatui's involvement. If she doesn't know how deep the damage they caused, she fails as a leader. If she knows but let them be, she's bad leader.

He now uses this ability to assist the Tsaritsa in her goal to achieve “world peace”. But he still wants to keep his terroristic ways a secret from his family for reasons too obvious to even say, just go play the story quest. And now, he feels like a true friend to the traveler, though the traveler themself might not see it that way, Tartaglia does, and he’d do 80% of things to help them achieve their goal of family reunion. For just as Childe said, if anyone knows the lengths one will go through and what lines one would cross for the sake of their sibling that gave them the motivation to seek power to begin with, it's *The Traveler.* And the Traveler is VERY dangerous. One of the themes of the Chasm is that the Fatui were supposedly accepted as friends to Liyue and it’s revealed that one of the continuing missions is that the Fatui never stopped battling the Abyss since the Cataclysm 500 years ago- until Tartaglia threw a wrench in the works. I think there is a lot of potential for the Traveler to make tentative ally to the Harbingers, but the “ends justify the means” methods of the Fatui will always pose problems. I think the key difference between Childe’s arc and someone like EI is that despite getting off Scott free for his crimes, it makes a lot of sense because he’s a harbinger and Liyue doesn’t have the ability to punish him without larger scale effects. Ei on the other hand is completely forgiven by everyone and we’re told that she’s a morally grey character, but nobody recognizes the shitty things she did. Childe is given a story quest where he’s simply humanized, showing that he has a life outside of just being a harbinger but never really asks us to forgive his genocide. Even during that quest, we threatened to just kill him right there and then. EI on the other hand we go on dates with, as if she wasn’t a dictator ruining the lives of everyone including us up until 3 minutes ago. Childe might not be my favourite harbinger, but I can still appreciate the fact that Hoyo actually recognized we shouldn’t be forgiving this genocidalist lmao

Personally, I believe he didn't receive a redemption arc because of a few more things alongside what the video mentions. Compare him with other Harbingers we've met and what do we see? Most don't seem to care for their own people or respect them, Tartagalia on his ownquest on the other hand shows he is willing to discipline them but not disregard them. He even takes information from others rather more calmly compared to others. Also consider how he structures his plans and when he executes them alongside his prospects for how they end. Comparing with the other Harbingers, they show more that their end goal is to get the task done with success, without worrying much if it causes too much damage to the lives of others or alternatively fully intending it brings harm to them. Tartagalia on the other hand can even see failure of a plan as a necessary step to his success. I can tell some have their eye-twitching by that comment, so here's what I mean: When Childe executed his plan to free Osial, he did so when he realized that Morax was still alive. He wasn't intending to do so if possible, but he did in the end knowing it would cause problems for Liyue Harbour. Or rather it's possible decimation. However he openly admited he had considered that plan to fail, because if Morax lived, he would never allow such harm to come to his people. He released Osial on Liyue Harbour knowing Morax would try and stop him, giving him the needed opportunity to go for Morax. Naturally, us fighting Osial damaged that prospected plan so we would need to be stopped. In short, he does rather bad things but is not an asshole about it. He is willing to cause severe damage to a nation IF it forces the Archon to come out from hidding to prevent it, but if other alternatives exists he showed to take them first, showing he is not a brute. As for how it may end with Childe... regardless we will NEED Fatui materials to level up and upgrade characters, which is why I believe we will never ally with the Fatui on a permanent capacity. In fact, I have a suspicion that something big will happened between the Fatui, the Harbingers and the Tsaritsa once we get there. And honestly... there's a constant theme in Genshin that many people seem to ignore that we all need to keep in mind, a theme that we stumbled upon in Mondstadt, the start of our journey... and again in Sumeru, the halfway point of our journey. And it envolves the Abyss. Not the Order, the actual Abyss.

I'm guessing this stems from the random Tartaglia and Yoimiya appearance in Chinju Forest. In my understanding people were angry/confused over Traveller's dialogue choices to Yoimiya... I hundred percent agree with this video. And traveller is right to be vary about Tartaglia and his future actions and what he might learn from being around Traveller and their friends. However I am baffled over the... difference of how Traveller acts towards other people in Tartaglia's presence. In the Labyrinth event, Traveller and Paimon actively covered for him and lied to Xinyan about his identity despite... everything that went on. With Yoimiya, they are outright prepared to tell her (and the children) that Tartaglia is actually a bad guy. Is this just because of the difference in situation (dangerous labyrinth versus peaceful forest) or something stemming from further interractions with other Harbingers?

You are a comrade-in-arms, a rival to be tested and he's unapologetic about it. He a strong potential ally. And I dunno what the story will be with the coming 3.3 update but I see the same sort of idea playing out for Scaramouche. With him being playable, our relationship with him will change because of it (although I believe he will have some sort of redemption arc, I just can't really say how far that will go). So, things are going to have to play out in the story for us before we have any other Harbingers in our party.

I'll second the Traveler joining the Fatui or at least allying with the Tsaritsa once they know the truth about what is happening with Celestia. I expect this to happen once the Traveler has traveled to all of the nations.

Tartaglia/ Childe is a one of kind character that doesn't need to have a moment of redemption. He knows who he is and he is proud of it. Still the guy is very sketchy and we wouldn't know what's his real goal in the end to become the most loyal Harbinger for the Tsaritsa. However I always keep an eye on him, he has gained many indications of death flags that he would carry until the climax of the story.

He isn't redeemed...yet, because if he is going to have a redemption arc it would have to be when the Traveler gets to Snezhnaya and Childe is able to reconcile the places he's been versus his own home and take a stand against the Tsaritsa personally (perhaps joining in/interfering in her boss fight with the Traveler)

Exactly. Childe never getting a redemption, never even APOLOGIZING is enough reason for the Traveler to hold reservations and feel hostile about him. I will forever judge people (specifically Harbinger stans) for making some of the most absurd arguments for why the Traveler should like or even tolerate the Fatui when they have never, EVER given them a reason to do so.

THIS. I love all of this. I’ve seen a lot of people being upset about how the Traveler (minor photo event spoiler) is so mean to Tartaglia still, but WHY WOULDN’T THEY BE??? He’s never given them a reason to fully trust him. Just because the Traveler seems to be cool with him personally, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t warrant giving a friend a heads up about who he is. I agree too that I feel like it’s more likely that we’ll end up allying with the Fatui towards the end rather than Childe “seeing the error of his ways” and leaving them. He’s said “we’re on the same side” multiple times now. Obviously he has information we as the players as well as the Traveler don’t, he just hasn’t shared it yet for one reason or another.

I would like to see Tartaglias story after the Tsarita and Fatui plotline comes to a somewhat conclusion. As of right now all we have are conjectures and hints at what all is happening in Schnezniah and the Fatuis ultimate goals. No matter what happens I would love to see how that impacts Tartaglia and his goals/plans for a future as Shenziah inevitably changes after the traveler arrives (as there has yet to be a nation he hasn't impacted in his travels 😅)

My personal opinion is that eventually he'll have to make a choice. Family or Power. If he picks power he loses his family. If he picks family he loses the chance to gain more power. Both are equally important to him. But eventually it'll come to a point where he can only have one or the other and I feel like that'll really define any development in his character.

What I see happening is towards the end of the story we'll have taken out a number of the Fatui Harbingers and defeat the Tsaritsa. At that point Childe/Tartaglia will probably take over leadership role of Snezhnaya. We'll then head to Khaenri'ah and finish up the story. I'm curious to what role Celestia will play in all of this though if at all. It's also possible that Celestia will involve itself once the Fatui acquire all the Gnosis. Because they have gotten every single one thus far without fail. So the story is pretty obvious in whats going to happen, I dunno why anyone would have any hope of stopping them from getting the Gnosis.

Yeah falling down a hole into the abyss (or close to the abyss) probably messed him up in the head and things might change a little once the journey takes us to Shneznaya and the story there unfolds. But I doubt there will be much change, at most he'll probably decide to travel the world without being tied to an organization, in a way fulfilling a childhood dream and still doing what currently interests him. (God help who ever he runs into 🤣)

Thanks for sharing your pov! I agree that the beauty in Childe's character is his duality. And another thing, for me, his way of getting stronger from any lesson thrown at him. Anyway, isn't the Traveler wary of Tartaglia because he's a Harbinger? I'd like to understand if this isn't really the case. I mean, it kinda felt like the Traveler is pretty much wary of every Fatui members (the Harbingers, Katarina, Viktor) beginning from Mondstadt quests. It seems like he/she has a black and white view of the world as of version 3.2. And I thought, I'd like to validate what I already know.

I often find myself comparing Tartaglia to a rather classic true crime serial killer archetype, the 'Hannibal Lecter' of the Genshin cast. I felt that he fundamentally does not see any tension between himself as a caring big-brother figure and himself as Tsaritsa's weapon.

I think Tartaglia is an interesting character not because I like him (he creeps me out because he looks and behaves exactly like someone who did things to me) but because of the air he has around him story-wise. I heard in another theory video that Delusions might be powered by hatred (maybe against the gods or something like that), and that they injure or even kill the wielder if their hatred subsides. Maybe, Tartaglia isn't just crazy. Maybe, he just wants more power and is skillful enough to get it from a Delusion without getting killed. Maybe he still has some values hidden that might be revealed in future content. If he doesn't have those values I think he's just a terrible character. (I might say something slightly inaccurate here, I'm not an expert of Genshin lore) So he has the Foul Legacy thing and he learned it from the Abyss and the sibling is from the Abyss and he's a Harbinger and all three dislike Celestia. I think there is a very big chance that at some point, Tartaglia's true motivations, values, and redemption will happen later in the story. Knowledge seems to be a big theme for Hydro characters, they're all very knowledgable about a topic not very known by people in Teyvat (it almost could be described as hidden knowledge), maybe Tartaglia has learned something about the Abyss (positive connotation) and that's why he gained a vision which are normally given to friendly characters with good values, but he hasn't revealed it yet, which makes his potential good knowledge and value as a friend, hidden. Also, his banner seems to show up again every time a Gnosis is taken (or supposed to be taken). Maybe he has an important role in the story about the gods and vision wielders.

8:53 Even then, Scaramouche is more likely to be redeemed (maybe not redeemed, but he will try to atone for his actions). Scaramouche may be bad, but he became like that for a reason, his tough confident act is clearly just an attempt to hide his trauma. I'm not saying Scaramouche can or should be redeemed, but he is far more likely to at least try to do something good to slowly atone for his actions. You can tell that Scaramouche is afraid to trust anyone, and I could see him joining the Traveler to travel around and try to help people, even if it wont redeem him.

Thank you for this! It never made sense to me that some people viewed his story quest as a redemption, or that anything thus far has been a redemption of any kind, so I'm glad to see a video dispelling that notion. I especially enjoyed the mention of how Childe's character isn't a single archetype and how that separates him from a lot of the cast. His duality makes him a very exciting character, and watering him down to a single layer simply does not do him justice. It's so refreshing to find a video where his character writing and execution is appreciated.

Your right childe is not a redemption character. However I still get a little upset when the traveler only talks about how untrustworthy he is. I know we can't keep guard down around him. But at least have tough love banter with the guy. The writing is just making the travel sound like someone with a grudge.

Hydro visions offer themselves to people with strong motives and moral conscience to their core. The hydro archon's all about that. So does many hydro characters. He's a man of his word, even if he sounds silly about it, check his voice overs for proof. He's where he is because of fate. I adore Ajax as well. Also, if he didn't do what he did, who knows what The Tsaritsa would have done to his family?
