Why the Clone Army Would Have Been SO BORING Without 'the Arc Trooper Revolution' 

I wish we would’ve had a clone wars episode showing the transition from phase 1 and phase 2 armor. Like having a few with phase 2 armor and having the rest in phase 1 armor.

We thank the ARC Troopers for making us more human.

It kinda sounds like the Jedi healed the Clones from being droid-like, that by encouraging them to loosen up, they gave them the gift of individualism and what came from it. When you look at their relations like that, it makes Order 66 a little more tragic.

In any iteration, ARC troopers will be certified badasses up there with the Clone Commandos and such

Genetically modified soldiers out of a template of the most deadliest bounty hunter in Galactic history, and Jango Fett knew that Dooku hired him for his natural abilities which he hammered into each of his clones.

I think Rex was a beta class ARC. 1. Dave Filoni said that there's a lot of Jango in Rex, and they gave him dual pistols to show that. 2. Rex is also very independent and free thinking, which has led to the fan theory that he is a defective clone by Kaminoan standards 3. Omega has stated he's a Gen 1 clone, and I believe Rex mentioned he was on the first Battle of Geonosis. Why isn't his number ARC-7567? My theory is that there was a mix up. His gestation vat got swapped in with a regular trooper's vat, the quality control droid was on the fritz or something, it happens. Since Rex was a beta ARC, he's like 85% pure Jango, 10% enhancement mods, and 5% other (accelerated aging, and behavioral modifications). The RepComm books alluded to the Kaminoans making various batches of the same model of clones. The Nulls are superior to alpha ARCs. It would make sense that since the Alpha ARCs and Nulls scared the Kaminoans they would try to keep the positives from both types yet with the more docile obedience of a clone trooper, hence a beta batch and maybe even a gamma batch. Anyway that's my headcanon. Just wanted to share.

As much as I love the Clone Commando’s, ARC troopers are awesome as well. And it would be sweet to see more of them in future Star Wars projects.

It’s all fun and games until Alpha-17 come onto the battlefield

It would have been awesome to have seen Alpha during the battle of Kamino during the Clone Wars tv show. Harkening back to when he was first awoken to defend the city in legends, but this time we get to see on the tv what a fully realised clone of Jango could do when "unleashed". Even standing toe-to-toe with Ventress at the DNA chamber before Anakin showed up would have been fantastic.

Well, in Canon they’ve kept the ARC Commander Program, so even if Alpha doesn’t exist in Disney Canon, some other clone took his role. I would say that by extension, the Jedi are partially responsible for this aspect of the clone army. Alpha like the ARC Troopers and the Clone Commandos had the independence, but lacked guidance. He could easily have just stayed on the frontlines or growed closer with his brothers in the field under a Republic commander that went on to become an Imperial. Such a commander would look down on the clones, but utilize the best of them in skill to the fullest extent, like what Vice Admiral Rampart in the Bad Batch does with Crosshair. A non-Jedi Republic officer may have even encouraged Alpha to become more brutal, perhaps having him put down signs of independence among their unit through intimidation or secret execution. I can imagine that under Tarkin or Rampart’s command at least. With a Jedi on the other hand, they care about their troops. Plenty of commanders from the Original Trilogy in the Rebellion probably also would, but such people made up only a fraction of non-Jedi officers while most were either former Separatists like Cassian Andor or militia leaders like Cham Syndulla, Admiral Ackbar and Saw Gerrera. The Jedi saw the independence in the clone troopers and decided to make it expand, let it grow. In some ways the clone army may have been the perfect combination of individualism and collectivism, as while they all saw each other brothers, they also took pride in their individuality by painting their armor and giving each other nicknames. Of course, Jedi attempts to influence clones work best when they get the commanders on their side first, like Rex and Cody. As stated, it’s easier to influence the regular troops if trusted officers are pushing for such behaviors.

The coolest part about this is that being a Generation One Clone, Rex both served during the 1st Battle of Geonosis and was personally trained by one of the best ARC Troopers in the Republic Army.

I personally wouldn't want to loose Rex, or have him replaced in any way.

The ARC Troopers is why we love the Clone Troopers. From the comics, to the Clone Wars micro-series, to Star Wars The Clone Wars the clones got better and more likeable. Now we all have a favorite and completely agree that they were better than other soldiers from the other factions.

I hope in the upcoming season 2 for the Bad Batch, they come up against a ArcTrooper or two almost kicking their asses by the Arc's but still managing to defeat them.

So that's how all of it begun. I was always curious how & when Clone Trooper started to show individual traits. They've come a long way from cold and bleak "army-of-one" to the lively and warm army of *men* ... just to be back to square one three years, thanks to Empire.

As I become more and more familiar with the intricacies of "The Clone Wars", courtesy of your excellent vids, I've become more appreciative of all the depth and details they in fact provide. Similar to how the animated shows "Roughnecks" provide more detail on the "Starship Troopers" Saga, Clone Wars provides comprehensive detail on the incredible stories that took place during this horrendous war. Could you do an episode comparing/contrasting or doing a versus with the alpha/nulls against mandalorians like the protectors, death watch, true mandalorians et cetera.

The ARCs kind of remind me of the Death Watch from 40k. They're dudes taken from their respective units and essentially have their failings, pointless foibles and unhelpful traditions purged, then sent back to their respective units now more creative, individualistic and competent.

Alpha 17 is an untapped market if you ask me. He’s got pretty compelling story. He’s also quite similar to Master Chief, despite his attitude. My favourite line is, “They grow up loyal to the republic, or they don’t grow up at all.” - Alpha 17 referring to clone embryos.

I love Alpha 17’s innovative program, since it helped them win battles.

I don't think it was rare, as in absent, I think the clones at the start were extremely individualistic with their own uniqueness, they just learned to suppress it in order to survive. They saw their brothers get taken away, so they hid the parts of them that made them unique.

ARC troopers are definitely the best troopers. And the greatest ARC trooper was Fives.

So basically,Alpha trained the VERY High caliber and ELITE Commander training core which o imagine is large part WHY all them commander Droids kept GROSSLY misjudging their Clone enemies and thoroughly, repeatedly, getting their asses kicked

My Star Wars hierarchy is literally Empire, both the Clone Wars, Mando, Rogue One, Rebels. Clone Wars has to be the best media from the prequel era

Jango's motives with Boba is simple. He wanted a legacy that weould continue the culture and values he stood for, or he just wanted a son.

So what about the Battle Droids? Did they get any sort of development in throughout the Clones Wars? Aside from being thrown all over the places by the Jedi and their superiors, they can become the clones' equal in the right place and the right time.

My suggestion; do another character analysis on Jango Fett.

Not gonna lie, the Republic comics' Alpha-17, Commander Bly, and a bunch of other notables and the clone commandoes from the Republic Commando video game, tie-in novels, and the occasional comics sure did help start the fleshing out of the clones in Legends.

Whenever I hear about war crimes in Star Wars, I always think are they actually war crimes in the universe or are we just comparing them to real life? If they are in real life then are they actually war crimes in universe?

I also rewrote the prequels and had more episodes to each seasons of the clone wars and had one more season and in my Canon the clone wars last five years instead of three and the separatist won the first series of victories

This suggests that some clones were specifically created to be ARCs. But what about Echo and Fives, who were Regs who got promoted to being ARCs? Was it because they randomly showed individuality? Or was it part of the plan all along?

working along anakin skywalker was the dream for the clones. he encouraged them to be themselves hence why the 501st was tatted, haircuts and dyes. i feel like ARC Training and working with skywalker was the best (reachable) life for a clone.

I wonder how you’d distinguish the commandos from the arc troopers. I know commandos were suped up versions of the reg clones with more traits of Jango allowed in their design but had more of a team oriented mentality. So would commandos be more like seals and the arc troopers are more like rangers, or perhaps green berets?

If the ARC Troopers were the result of a specific and special cloning “recipe”, then how and why did regs like Echo and Fives attain the designation of ARC Troopers following the Battle of Tipoca City? What is it the commonality they shared with an ARC Trooper like Alpha 17 that allowed them to be designated as ARC Troopers, in spite of the lack of the specific genetic specialization?

I think it would be a close fight but if given comparable equipment/load out gear I think the arcs from legends would win imho

Want some real character development and a true dive into the lives of clones as well as the INSANELY deep EU lore that was shat all over for Mandalorians? Go read Karen Traviss' Republic Commando novels. Now THAT'S Star Wars, CW will forever fall short of the writing, characters and lore established by the EU. CW is alright for a casual fan to watch casually/in the background, with some moments that really stick out here and there, but by and large is carried by convivence, plot armor and forgettable filler. Much better than most Disney SW, but still incredibly shallow. PS kinda sucks you missed Null-class, but I absolutely love your videos man!

Alpha may have been kind of a dick, but he gave me Rex, Cody, Fives, Echo, Hevy, Jesse, Hardcase, Tup, Waxer, Boil, Wolffee, and many other Clones I love, so he's not all bad.

TCW 2008 is *incompatible* with previous EU lore, it is just idiotic to refer to Alpha as having trained Rex, because they don't exist together. Filoni made it so that either Rex *was* Alpha or he doesn't exist, and since George Lucas had that alliteration problem, Alpha doesn't exist in the TCW timeline or in Canon (which I am glad about, because he is far better than Rex, Rex is a bad character)
