I feel bad for the Ms Marvel actress. She’s actually a fan of marvel and doesn’t deserve to be in this movie or get any of the hate that she’s been getting. Hopefully one day marvel will put her in a good movie.

I kind of feel bad for Tom Hiddleston in all of this. His fiancée was the villain in this movie, which came out on the same day of the Loki season 2 finale. Only one of those projects has been reviewed positively. Got to be a little awkward at home. 😅

I hate to say it but the actress that played the villain is Tom Hiddleston’s fiancé. I wonder if she would have gotten the role if that wasn’t the case.

Ms Marvel is literally the only few things that was good about this film and I am glad she’s not the problem. There was some potential for this film but like always, Marvel doesn’t want to take any risk or doesn’t have any confidence anymore, this film is proof.

My dad loved captain marvel, and even he thought this movie was too dumb. The last straw for him, the Cats musical song playing over the kittens eating the people. For me, it was the musical number.

I feel so sorry for the girl playing Ms. Marvel. The actress seems like a really likeable person. If her character had been given better material, she could've shined more.

For me, Miss Marvel, Yelena and the new Hawk Eye are the only character that I still find enjoyable in the new roster. Sadly, none of them have a movie planned where they are the main character.

It’s almost as if The Marvels was written specifically for the Hanna Montana and Spy Kids audiences. Disney has grabbed the MCU steering wheel and yanked it over to take the Disney Channel exit off the mainstream entertainment highway. They can’t seem to figure out if they want to be a serious screen translation of the Comics or a silly kid-centric knockoff.

I have more fun watching these reviews than I do seeing the movies. In the middle of the movie I’ll be thinking like I can’t wait to see what RU-vid says about this part.

I agree the movie the movie could’ve been better, just wanted to give some context on your Fury point. Secret Invasion was actually supposed to release after this movie pre-Covid. Things got shuffled after Covid hit and we ended up getting Secret Invasion before this, but I’m assuming the implication is this Fury hasn’t gone through Secret Invasion yet, which would explain why he seems completely different. Why they wouldn’t just push Secret Invasion back? I wish I knew

I am so glad someone felt the same way I did while watching this movie. While I was watching it I had the words "embarrassing" and "stupid" circulating in my mind over constantly.

I think I've been in denial over the MCU's decreasing rep for far too long. The Marvels may have just made Quantumania and Secret Invasion look like bangers to me. Deadpool 3, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, Daredevil: Born Again, Spider-Man 4, and Fantastic 4 all better make a thorough comeback for the MCU or else!

I have to push back on one point. Ronin the Accuser was himself a terrible and undeveloped villain. If he were not in the otherwise great Guardians of the Galaxy, HE would be remembered as one of the worst villains of the MCU, and rightly so. He ran like a bitch in the first Captain Marvel movie, and his gender swapped replacement is worse in every way. Also, hammers in battle are primarily used as weapons against armored opponents, and while it might have scored some points on Iron Man or Ultron, no one Ronin or Darbin ever fought would have been weak against a hammer, so their weapon was just a useless prop to be destroyed.

The script writers were probably watching Spaceballs and decided to copy and paste the plot of stealing the atmosphere

Glad to see most people really like/feel positively about Kamala/Ms Marvel/Iman. Poor girl is doing her best and it shows. I hope she gets better movies, she really deserves better

I hated what they did with Nicky Fury too. In phases 1-3 he had a really good balance of serious/dark and comedic. But after that he became a total goofball along with Thor. Secret Invasion fixed that, only to make him more of a comedic character in the Marvels. In the Infinity Saga, his character was better written and more consistent with less appearances, no idea how Marvel could degrade his character by giving him more projects and screentime.

As a wine loving, cat and single woman in her 30s I can say me and my like minded female friend who loved the mcu have no desire to see this movie. Yes I will say the cats and kittens are super cute but that’s not enough to make me watch the film (I have my own at home who is cuter). This is a bomb of a film and I say this as a cat and wine loving single female in their 30s who has never seen barbie but thinks Oppenheimer as the best film of the year.

Disney trying to tell us that you need to watch previous movie to know what is going on and then they make a films that didn't incorporate the story of the previous movie

I was actually waiting for this movie to become a surprise hit, despite everything. Well, good thing Iman Vellani was good in it at least. Her series was surprisingly enjoyable too, despite the weak villains. She just that damn likeable. I feel bad she was introduced to the MCU at this point, she deserves better honestly. I hope Disney won't take the wrong impression and boots her.

I don't blame anyone in the cast or the director for this, I think it's safe to say this movie had a fair amount of executive meddling and I get the sense Disney is afraid of letting their directors do the work they were hired to do, for some reason that escapes me. I hope everyone involved in this can go on to better projects where their talents will be more valued.

I want to chime in and say Loki Season 2 is shockingly interesting. It is by far the best and most well-directed project Marvel has done in a long while. It is JARRING and strange that they cannot get their quality consistent across these projects.

They're so confused after Endgame. What do audiences want? They don't know. How do they provide what audiences didn't know they wanted? Clueless. What makes a good movie? Hopefully this indie director who never made blockbuster entertainment knows that. What do they wanna do with the MCU? They don't know because they didn't plan it out properly. But the brand makes money so they gotta push out content for the cinemas and Disney+ and somehow figure it out along the way, no time for breaks or the execs will be upset!

Like, what is unique about Kree culture aside from blue skin? I know some kree don't have blue skin but I feel that she should have been at least given blue features

Actors have some agency in their projects, they don't have to just sit there and act out a shit script and shit screenplay while providing no input. Can they completely change things, no, but they can put some heart into the scene. The same way Henry Cavill said "No. Im not doing that. Geralt wouldnt treat Roach's death as a joke." Then wrote his own dialogue for the scene Dar-Benn's actress couldve said "This character doesnt make sense." Rambaeu's actress couldve said "shouldnt there be more between my character and Carol Danvers?" And Imani couldve said "can i play a teen character from Marvel that people actually like?" So no. It's on them a bit, too. And if no one listened to them, pull a Henry Cavill and fucking walk. Say "No. Im not putting my name and face on that." And seeing how much people like Imani, she'd get work. Brie is supposed to be the new leader so her getting pissy should be something they want to avoid.

it is obvious to me that disney has decided to sacrifice Miss marvel to try and save Brie Larson, but it obvious didn't work and the small fun base of Miss marvel won't be enough to save this joke of a movie.

I watched this yesterday and already forgot that antagonist name 😭😂

What’s weird is the pacing/writing for this film. It literally opens with a scene that has nothing to do with it. After that, we get a very brief recap of the first film before the plot starts. I’m not joking, literally 3 minutes in, the main plot kicks into a high gear and our 3 characters immediately meet. This is not how you do a team up! Take the Avengers, for example. The Avengers took almost an hour before our characters fully come together. It’s not that it’s boring, it’s actually really interesting because it takes it time and slowly raises tension. This movie doesn’t even develop the relationship between our leads! They just meet each other and are like “let’s get to together to do something”. This movie suffers from the runtime! This movie feels like it’s written by A.I! This just feels like a series of scenes duct taped together by a VERY thin plot. There is literally a scene where Carol is flying in space, then pops up in Kamala’s house to smile at her parents, and appears on the moon to get chased by an army of Kree. We get no context for this scene! Immediately after, the other 2 heroes show up and help Carol immediately. Reminder, this is only like 5 minutes in. The whole movie is scenes like this. A bunch of random mumbo jumbo happening on screen in the matter of seconds to get to the next mindless moment! Garbage movie! Garbage writing! I’ve found a movie worse than the Eternals, She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion, and Love and Thunder combined!

Every time i see that clip of the villain walking alone in a mountainous area, she looks like a sci-fi discount Game of Thrones character.

The Marvels was supposed to drop before secret invasions but they kept on pushing it back really but yeah you definitely see the inconsistencies in tone of certain characters that don't make any sense. But there's also a lack of continuity. This film really should've came out like 2 years earlier and should've introduced both Kamala and Monica earlier as well around the same time even if it was a post credit scene. It's been 4 years since Endgame and the first movie and that's way too long of a gap without a significant appearance. To me this movie shouldn't have been a flop, they could've done a whole lot better in my honest opinion. They went away from the formula and now they're paying the price. We should've gotten a new Spider movie as well, no appearance in sight.

Only by watching Marvel at this point shall you know Pain!
